Module Title Design Process
END OF MODULE SELF-EVALUATION NAME
1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
I have developed a range of skills throughout this module which have benefited my graphic design career. I have found that one of the greatest aspects that I have taken away from this brief is the client and designer relationship and how crucial it is. I say this because the better the communication between the client and the designer the more interesting and to the point your work is going to be. Another skill I have developed is being able to juggle 3-4 briefs at one time, including the briefs from other modules. I feel as though these skills are essential when I plunge into the industry and start working with paying clients.
2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process? I have developed a small passion for screenprinting as well as laser cutting. I have also developed a general improvement on the digital side of things, i.e.: becoming more skilled at Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premiere. On the organisational side of things, I felt as though I could have improved a great deal, I say this because I was juggling so many briefs at a time that it all became a bit too much work. When I feel that there is too much work on my shoulders, the effort and time I spend on one brief means that my other briefs become neglected. This is a habit that I want to steer clear of and move on from.
3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
The strengths in my work were most definitely on the branding side of the briefs because I felt as though I enjoyed doing those briefs more. The reason I loved doing branding briefs so much is that with all the effort and dedication one puts in to branding something, the end result is very rewarding. I will capitalise on this by starting to really delve into the world of branding and really start to understand how that world works in the industry. Another main strength is that my design boards have improved tremendously, which is essential for the industry, where even showing mock ups for your work to your boss has to be in pristine condition.
4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?
One of the main weaknesses was the overload of work which lead to me not putting as much effort into one brief as I did the other. I feel as though my time management could have severely improved, I will address this in the future by creating a small calendar and time sheet to complete my work.
5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
I will organise my time more efficiently in the future so that I have time to complete multiple briefs at one time. I would have liked to have taken up a packaging brief as I seemed to lack any of those within my set (minus the boost brief) Get more client based work so that I am prepared for the industry when I leave Uni. I would take up more collaborative briefs with other peers. I will do more crits with other groups next time and make sure that we design better off of the advice given.
6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (please indicate using an ‘x’) 5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor 1 2 3 4 5 Attendance 5

The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
