Revealing the Root of Consciousness in Humanity’s Existence with Faith in God Acclaimed coauthor twins Rohan and Mohan bring the meaning of life to a new level of understanding. Perhaps the most significant questions of all time about humanity’s existence and what is consciousness, are scientifically analyzed with the uncommon clarity in this new release. “This divinely inspired narrative imparts a compelling comparative examination of the philosophical, religious and scientific viewpoints on the elements pertinent to attaining spiritual growth.” – Pacific Book Review

Thank you to the Illinois Distributors: Julie Roberts, Tina Marjan, Ellie Stewart, Randall Hoel, Joe Johrey, Jonathan McConaughey, Kristen Panek, Laurae Kozlik, Chris Dylanski, Barbara Osterdock and Jo Ann Broder. Thanks to Wisconsin distributors: Keri Silk and Stephanie McDonald, as well as to Rose Fier in Indiana. Thank you to all of you for your cooperation and backing me up. Thank you to all our readers, in print and online, for all the comments that you’ve sent me regarding the changes that we’ve made this year. They inspire me to make a more mindful magazine that will continue to expand our consciousness with each issue! We are still learning, growing and experimenting with different things, and I apologize for whatever did not work well. We are all on our spiritual journey, and we all do our best to be more whole, compassionate and spiritual human beings. We are looking forward to continuing to fulfill our mission to elevate conscious in 2018! In this December issue, you will find many fascinating articles on diverse topics. You will discover how to make an impact in the community and ways to look at stress from a different perspective. You need to try Janae’s recipes for healthy superfood cookies. [COMMUNITY Q&A]
ASK ALECIA by Alecia Rice
Q. I’m dreading our family holiday gathering. I don’t share views with my family about religion, politics or world events. I feel like I’ll be enduring it instead of looking forward to it. Any advice. — Feeling Grinchy A. Dear Feeling Grinchy, My sense is that many are facing the same concerns this holiday season. People seem stretched thin lately, mentally and emotionally, which creates less tolerance, compassion and understanding for opposing viewpoints. Combine that with perspectives that are emotionally charged and grounded in fear with little wiggle room for contrasting opinions...well...personal irritations and frustrations can mount. This is the perfect season to experiment with the concept of detached observance. Holiday gatherings create ripe circumstances to sharpen our ability to play the conscious observer while staying connected to our thoughts, the feelings in our bodies, and our choices in response to strained personal encounters. It’s important to own and manage our energy. These interactions offer the opportunity to monitor the feelings that move through us as we engage with others who may have strong, differing points of view. There are various intentions available for navigating such gatherings. One choice is to engage in Ho’oponopono, the ancient Hawaiian practice to make “right relationship” through personal reconciliation and forgiveness. This can
be done before the gathering, during, as well as after, to attempt to restore balance in oneself with others. The shorthand of it is that you envision someone in your mind’s eye with whom your energy is erratic. Fill up your heart with good energy and repeat these words in a sincere way, silently or aloud, as many times as needed to bring balance, “I love you. I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.” These words acknowledge that whatever is in another is also within us and we take responsibility for that issue within ourselves instead of judging the other for it. This practice has shifted relationships when one person had no knowledge that the other person was engaged in the process. I invite you to research this powerful practice to understand it more in depth. Another choice is to attempt to avoid the larger macro topics by bringing them down to micro topics, which are on a personal individual level. Try engaging Uncle Joe by asking him something personal about himself that lights him up, so he can share himself with you. This is the stuff of relationships. For example, ask him how he met and fell in love with Aunt Sally or about his world travels. This engages him on a personal heart level which often keeps external world topics at bay, which may be more controversial. One final practice is to manage one’s energy by not allowing triggers to be acted upon or verbalized, while regulating them within oneself. This allows
one to bear witness to how easy or difficult it is to be pulled out of one’s own space. It takes two to tango. When one of the parties stops dancing, the dance is over. Q. My husband doesn’t care for short hair and I don’t care for disheveled beards. I’ve kept my hair long for him, but he doesn’t trim up his beard for me. Am I wrong to ask that we both compromise instead of me being the only one? — Hair’s the Issue A. Dear Hair’s the Issue, Conscious marriage is a contract of compromise, love and respect. It’s important that lovers remain true to themselves, while being open to places for compromise to keep their spouse engaged and attracted. This issue has the potential to dog you throughout your marriage. It’s a classic situation that requires you to be clear within yourself as to what’s truly important...and the same for him. You need to talk about it; it’s best to find a way to come to an understanding now, so it can be settled. Watch for an opening when you’re feeling really connected with hearts open and then bring it up conversationally, not controversially. This will allow you better flow and understanding for communication. Each of you gets to make a choice. If you respect each other’s desires, you can each compromise by giving a little to please the other while getting a little, so you’re both doing something that’s attractive to the spouse. If one doesn’t wish to compromise, then the other is free to make their own choice as well. At that time you’re both still getting what you want, which is doing something with looks and self-maintenance that makes you feel the most comfortable and confident. Alecia Rice integrates higher concepts with wisdom to bring forth balance, perspective, and clarity. She’s a personal advisor, speaker and gatherer of women. For perspective on personal issues, you’re invited to text questions and comments to 681-321-1109. Discussions continue at Ask Alecia on Facebook. CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

COMMUNITY BUILDING: HOW TO BUILD A
MORE COOPERATIVE CULTURE. Interview with Jamaica Stevens
Interview by Janae Jean and Spencer Schluter JS: My friend, Julian… we’ve been in the festival world for a long time. I did a lot of event production for a very long time. When I met Julian I said, “I feel that I have something here. I feel that I have this story to share that’s cre ating a space for the stories of many to be shared.”
This episode we spoke with Jamaica Stevens, workshop leader, event producer, group facilitator, community organizer, organizational development consultant, project manager and life coach. Her experience ranges from large event production at festivals, such as Envision and Lucidity to her latest project, “ReInhabiting the Village: CoCreating Our Future.” The “ReInhabiting the Village: CoCreating Our Future” project features a 352page book with over 60 contributing authors and the work of 12 visionary artists, the companion workbook with interactive exercises and practical applications, the eBook and the website, ReInhabitingTheVillage.com. The project explores village mindset through 12 themes. The project is hosting an online course as well, beginning in January 2018. — J.J. Spencer: What is the purpose of your project? Are you trying to create a dialog about these things; or do you have a specific community that you are building? 10
| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE
DECEMBER 2017
Jamaica: For me, the project has been partly about creating a cultural narrative and a dialog that includes “Voices of the Village.” What does that mean to people to live with “The Village Ethos?” Not only [to create] cultural dialog, but also the project’s aim is to support the tools and best practices necessary to build a more cooperative culture. A lot of times people will say, “Great! I’m on board! I feel this growing sense of wanting to be more interdependent, more thoughtful of my participation of what’s happening on the planet and more engaged in my community. How do I go about doing that? How do I work with other people? How do I start projects that have the best foundation built on these frameworks and these principles?” So we also have the workbook and with that a series of classes and courses that we do to help guide people into the conversation and from the conversation into action based on the values. Janae: I’m curious how did you get the association with Keyframe Entertainment. Was this your project and you brought it to them?
SS: Art and music isn’t just entertainment, it’s also where a lot of these concepts are played out. It is an ongoing dialog, and I think that is one of the roles that the arts play in civilization. Where have we been? Where are we going? What’s next? Art has always been part of that visionary process. JS: As humanity we’ve been convening for a very long time; we’ve been gathering for eons. A very intrinsic part of our human connection is to gather, to convene, to celebrate, to share ideas, to come to the public piazza and trade wares and trade cultural understanding. I believe that the arts and music, and even festival scene, has been a way for modern humans to come together and to create a sense of community with the purpose being dance, expression, art and movement. What’s grown from that, I’ve seen from my years in event production, is that we have also been creating temporary villages. We’ve been prototyping. … It’s not just about coming together to celebrate, convene and share art. It’s about then taking what you’ve been inspired
by, what you’ve learned, what you’ve grown into and bringing it out into the world so that it serves everybody, not just a certain sub-sect of culture or community. Everybody can benefit. So I’ve very much seen the village as a growing ethos, and we practice it when we come together. JJ: It almost feels like we’re going back to early man. The idea of the village … the idea that you have the healer, the artist, the elder … all of these different roles in society and they all serve their purpose... and we’re starting to come back to that. I feel like that’s what you’re trying to do with your project; show how everyone’s role plays on everyone else’s role, and we can truly just work together instead of against each other. JS: Absolutely, there’s some core ethos that we’ve been playing with in the project and promoting as being these underlying factors. … How are we in good relationships with each other and with the living world around us? How we make a positive impact in the place that we live? How do we start shifting the economy to more sense of local place and promotion of local economy? We have this distributed global economy and what you find is that we now have become dependent on things that perpetuate this system that degrades our ecology. How do we become more supportive of a living economy that focuses on “upliftment” of place and people being able to live their lives and take care of their family?
we teach our children and we learn from our elders and we continue that vitality of life and we think about our impact on the ones who are still coming. These original values were part of the village culture. Almost by default you had to do that to survive. When we begin to grow in our comfort and had more access to trade with other places, I think we started to grow in ways that are amazing. Humanity is so diverse, and we’ve done so much in that time. Yet at the same time, it’s like we’ve gotten too big, almost too fast, that it’s not a sustainable way to grow and it’s not a regenerative way to grow. Now we have great advancement of certain people with a lot of people still in a great deal of poverty and suffering, so there’s an imbalance there. … I think that what’s trying to happen is the restoration of that balance. I believe strongly in coming back to village-based principles; we are interdependent. We very much rely on each other, and it is a matter of survival. It isn’t just comfort. We have to have stronger, more resilient communities to make it through these times. … We have to start with what we can do, and that’s more local engagement. You can make strong, local, thriving places that then the premise is by connecting with those other places that are also doing
that work of resilience we can build a network of resilient hubs that are prototyping different ways to live, better community ethic, and better economic and ecological practices. However we have to start doing that in mass numbers; we have to have a lot of people starting to participate in living a more village ethos based way for that transformation to happen on the scale it needs to, as rapidly as it needs to, to make that kind of change. For the unabridged transcript and audio podcast, visit consciouscommunitymagazine.com. Janae Jean is the editor and social media manager for Conscious Community Magazine. She has a master’s degree in computer music composition from Johns Hopkins University, and is actively researching using electronically generated sounds for healing. Spencer Schluter is the advertising account manager and social media manager for Conscious Community Magazine. His experience includes visual communiations, advertising, social media, marketing, public relations, and business development. He is also a master level Reiki and traditional Chinese Qigong practitioner.
All of that comes from a sense that we have to shift into a more regenerative perspective. Certainly intergenerational value, access to good education, celebration of cultural diversity and difference, really looking at social justice issues, these are all values and codes that were intrinsic when you were in a village. Based on survival, groups of people came together to say we have to work together. We’re stronger together. We each have different passions, purpose or skills … more of an artisan culture … where CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

[ALL ABOUT TOWN]
START TO SAY “YES” TO YOURSELF IN 2018
New Year’s Resolution Time by Theresa Puskar “I keep giving and giving until there’s nothing left of me. What about me? Who’s taking care of me?” At the beginning of my autobiographical one-woman show, “Beauty, Bollywood and Beyond,” I yell the above phrase at the top of my lungs, in hopeless desperation. I ask my divine for help, realizing that I am exhausted and that something has to change. I know that I am not alone when I utter those words. Many of you are in the same boat. It’s been a year since I started performing the show, and I know that it is time to put my money where my mouth is. In truth, most of us have been raised in a culture that makes “selfishness” a dirty word. We are taught at an early age that we need to give to others, but most often at our own expense. The “giving” that we practice is not rooted in a place of love, but in a place of shame. “I should”. Then any support we give to others comes from a place of duty, as opposed to coming from our hearts; therein lies the problem. “I’m shifting my perspective from ‘Selfishness’ to ‘Self-fullness’!” I have decided to stop “shoulding” all over myself, and I am focusing on me. If I don’t, then I will literally burnout. Years ago, I was invited to the Oprah Show. Iyanla Vanzant was the guest, and she asked Oprah what her greatest spiritual challenge had been. Her response was 12

that she struggled with the wants and needs that others imposed upon her, because of her fame and fortune. I asked her how she worked through it. Her response profoundly affected me. She said that she learned to only give to others when she wanted to; when it made her feel good. Soon after, I committed to doing the same. I took baby steps. I gave up my position on my community’s Board of Directors, I baked less homemade goods for my daughter’s school events, and I started focusing more on loving and caring for myself. While I’ve still got a long way to go, I know that I am moving in the right direction. “If I say ‘No’ to others guiltlessly and with an open heart, I will not offend.” When I first started my journey of saying, “Yes” to myself, I found it tough to say “No” to others. I felt defensive, and I was often caustic when I turned their request down. I soon realized that I was edgy because I didn’t really believe that I deserved self-care. So I soon learned that if I opened my heart, especially to myself, my “No” response would be gentler and easier for both of us to accept. “I’m making 2018 my year of being self-full and saying huge, delicious “Yes-es” to myself!” This upcoming year will be my “Yes” year. I am saying “Yes” to greater abundance of joy, ease, fun, laughter and financial support. Basically, I am
saying, “Yes” to all that is good. What has impacted me the most thus far, has been my morning routine. When I awaken, I take a couple of deep breaths. I say, “Yes” and focus on opening my heart. I then meditate and give deeksha blessings, first to myself, and then to others. As I do this, I can feel delightful and delicious causeless joy radiating throughout my being. I start my day in faith, joy and trust. It truly is an amazing way to start each day! I am committed to extending my joyful “Yes” journey out to the world. I will start by sharing my daily “Morning Joy” routine. I will be offering live sessions on the Internet and I hope you will join me. To do so, log onto www.sayyesanddestress.com. I will be sending links and to my morning “Joy” sessions, along with some free de-stress meditations and other offerings that I am creating. and spend all your hard earned money on more stuff for your loved ones, stop and think how you can give a purposeful gift from your sacred HeART space instead. Tap into your creative HeART and shower your loved ones with drops of meaningful kindness instead of material things. Its time to be Big-HeARTed in the most simple and genuine way and to always give from a creative space of grace.
THE GREATEST GIFT I give you my shoulder so you have a place to cry, I give you my unity so we never have to say goodbye. I give you my smile to brighten your day, I give you my hand to help you on your way. I give you my heart to fill yours with love, I give you my prayers to bless you from above. I give you my body so we can release your pain, I give you my happiness when it’s pouring rain. The greatest gift you can give does not have a price tag. It has a heart tag, a sentiment from a deep place in your spirit that speaks love in its very presence. The greatest gift cannot be bought in a store; it’s mainly found within your sacred HeART space. A poem, a song or piece of art made by you will last in their spirit much longer than an insignificant material possession. Even something as simple as a hug and a smile or giving all your attention to that person in the present moment is truly one of the biggest forms of love you can give. A gift from the heart is filled with a powerful intention for someone’s happiness and can deeply touch the person’s life forever. The HeART of generosity is giving without expectations. Giving from a space of true unconditional love is not about what you will get in return. Cultivating good karma in our lives is based on what we give is what we get and having the attitude of gratitude. Giving from our heart is an outward expression of our spirit’s compassion, understanding and forgiveness of others. No act of kindness is ever wasted and unexpected kindness is always the best. You don’t need a holiday for a reason to share your love. Gifts out of obligation carry no spiritual meaning, but gifts out of genuine good will carry true happiness with them. There is no better reward than seeing a smiling face after you have reached down to help rise another up or given something worthwhile from your heart. When you are full of generosity in the spirit, then you are full of joy in your heart. Your gracious heart is shown by your benevolence throughout your lifetime. Before you run out

How to Welcome Abundance
THROUGH YOUR FRONT DOOR! by Kristina Hollinger
Abundance. It’s a word filled with optimism and hope. But what does it truly mean to you? Abundance can come to you in many different forms in all areas of life. Do you long for more time? More money? Deeper connections and relationships? Your desires have been given uniquely to you for a reason. Whatever it is you are longing for in this moment is within reach, but first you need to know how to create the space to receive it. Get ready to design the life you deserve with the ancient practice of feng shui! One of the first steps when trying to implement feng shui in your home or office is to start with the front entrance. This article explains how to welcome new opportunities and positive energy into all areas of life simply by enhancing your front door!
WHY IS THE FRONT DOOR SO IMPORTANT? The front door is considered the “mouth of chi.” Chi (also spelled qi), is the natural life force, or energy, that is within everything. Every time you open your 14

front door, fresh chi flows in and replenishes your whole house. Allowing sunshine and fresh air through your front door naturally elevates the chi of your home. This is why it is so important to use the front door entrance everyday. If you do not use your front door, at the very least make an effort to at open it daily so that the natural light can flow through it.
the positive energy to “find” your house. You can attract positive chi by painting the door a different color from the rest of the house so that it stands out. This is highly recommended if there are multiple entrances to your home.
Whether you live in a house or an apartment, the front door of your home is so important when it comes to applying feng shui principles. The front door has two major functions. It protects your house and it welcomes in abundance!
HOW DO YOU FENG SHUI THE FRONT DOOR? In addition to using your front door daily, here are five suggestions that will help you elevate the chi of your home. These basic front door feng shui suggestions will protect your home and help you attract abundance. Make a “Yang” Door: When it comes to your front door, think bright! You want all
Carla Baldacci painted her front door Valspar “La Fonda” so that it stands out. The doormat, colorful flowers and address label complete the look, welcoming abundance to her home.
Create a Solid Door: A solid door is considered ideal in feng shui because it protects the house from any negative outside chi which could be caused from busy roads, arguing neighbors, construction, power lines or other outside factors that are beyond your control. If your door has a large glass window, you can create protection by hanging a colorful wreath. You can also try placing brightly colored flowers on either side of the door. Red flowers are ideal. Red is a power color with vibrant energy that will provide protection as well as attract more prosperity into your home.
and magnifies the positive effects each time you open the front door.
ARE YOU READY TO ATTRACT ABUNDANCE? Applying feng shui to your front door will be a breath of fresh air for you and your home! You will start to see things from a new perspective, which will give you greater clarity in all areas of life. You will see new opportunities that you did not realize existed, and helpful people will show up as if out of thin air.
Everyone’s feng shui journey is different, but if you try some of these front door feng shui suggestions, you will experience a shift. Your home will smile, and so will your heart! Kristina Hollinger is the author of “Teaching from the Heart with Feng Shui: Inspired Living for Teachers, Parents and Kids.” She is a school administrator and feng shui consultant who is passionate about helping others design the life they deserve. www. KristinaHollinger.com
Place a Solid Doormat Outside the Door: The doormat is believed to welcome helpful people and opportunities to your doorstep. There are three things to keep in mind when selecting your doormat: • A solid doormat is best because it is the most energetically stable. • The mat should not be wider than the front door. A mat that is too wide will actually bring you too many opportunities, making it difficult to prioritize and handle the workload. • Avoid doormats that have your last name or monogram on them. You don’t want people “walking all over you.” If you live in an apartment and cannot place a doormat in front of your doorstep, have no fear, in feng shui, there is always a solution! You can make an energetic doormat. Take a red pen (leave the cap on!), and “draw” a doormat in front of your door. For an added energetic bonus, “write” affirmations on the doormat of all that you wish to attract into your life. Have Your Address Clearly Labeled: You might know where you live, but visitors and FedEx don’t always know. Make your address visible so that nothing passes you by, both literally and symbolically. Place a Metal Wind Chime Outside: A metal wind chime outside the front entrance is a feng shui must-have! The wind chime is believed to circulate the positive energy that flows to your house CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

10 Principles
That Will Change the Way You Look at Stress by Marianne Clyde What do we do when it looks like the world is going to hell in a hand-basket? We change our focus. Not by putting our head in the sand, but strengthening our own internal locus of control. So that rather than become part of the problem, we become the solution. The world is groaning for strong capable leaders. Leaders who are strong and compassionate, grounded and wise. Leaders who know better that to jump into the firestorm with everyone else just because “everyone else is doing it.” Leaders that are equipped with skills to enable them to pull others out of the firestorm and lead them in a more productive direction. We can’t do that if we are reacting to anger with anger, hate with hate, accusation with accusation. We must be able to display a strength that can’t be rooted up when the winds of circumstances whip up all around us. We become the safe place in the storm. How can we do this? There are 10 simple to understand and easy to implement principles, that, if practiced on a regular basis, will strengthen your sense of self and sharpen the wisdom that already dwells within you. You will be able to respond instead of react, and be the voice of reason when chaos begins to ensue. We cannot change all external stressors. They will continue to come. People will continue to have opinions, strong opinions, and continue to be unreasonable. Illness and strife will happen around you. But that doesn’t mean you have to be knocked off balance by any of that. You can be the leader you know you are called to be. How? 1. Connect with your creator on a regular basis, through meditation, prayer, and awareness of your connection to all that is. If you can’t do 20 or 30 minutes twice a day, start with 10 minutes. If you can’t do that, do two minutes in the show-

er or at a stoplight. But start quieting your spirit and learning to listen to the wisdom within you. It’s there, but it doesn’t shout; it whispers. 2. Know your true identity. By connecting to the wisdom within, you begin to see that you are one with your creator. All that love and joy and peace, all that kindness and creativity and abundance, that’s who you are. That’s your true nature, and when you are happiest. 3. Nurture awareness. You begin to become aware that while you may experience negative emotions, that is not who you are. You will begin to realize that when you dwell on anger, hatred, fear, you stir up stress within your body that creates physical health issues as well and mental health problems. You learn to discern where someone else’s anger starts and yours ends. 4. Just breathe. When you are stressed or experiencing strong negative emotions, just stop for a moment and take a deep breath. When you are angry or fearful or hateful, your heart beats fast and your breathing gets shallow, and the oxygen is not able to circulate properly in your body. Your IQ even actually goes down, not a great way to make good decisions. 5. Respect. When you begin to respect yourself fully, you will be better equipped to respect others, treating them as individuals, seeing them for whom they are, not just labeling them according to race and gender, nationality or sexual preference. 6. Practice gratitude on a regular basis. When you are tempted to slide down the slippery slope of anger, blame, reactiveness, stop for a second and think of 3 things to be grateful for in the situation. Think of things to be thankful for you as you wake in the morning and go to sleep at night. It will help you sleep better because you are programming your mind and body for peace and joy.
7. Limit judgments. Judgmental people are negative. Criticism and judgment comes from a false sense of superiority and creates an unhealthy stress response in the body. 8. Detach from unnecessary drama. Stop reacting to anger with anger and to hate with hate. Take a deep breath and detach. It will give you a minute to develop a thoughtful response that leads to better productivity. 9. Communicate effectively. Make no assumptions about what others know or should know. Tell people what you need. Share calmly how their actions made you feel. Ask for what you need. It just saves time, aggravation and misunderstanding. 10. Forgive quickly. Don’t hold onto grudges, even if what they did was wrong. Forgiveness doesn’t mean there won’t be consequences. Forgiveness doesn’t excuse bad behavior. It just allows you to release the burden of hate and revenge. These simple principles take focus and persistence, yet they can change your life and your view of the world. The world needs you to be the leader you are called to be. You’ve got this!

[LIVING IN FULL CIRCLE HARMONY]
LIVING IN HARMONY The Kapha Yogi by Shannon Chada Just as a yoga practice is unique to each individual, so is the art of being in-tune with our doshas. We are all different in mind and body, and our yoga practice should be a unique devotion to our overall wellness. Using supportive asanas, pranayama, nutritional choices, herbs, spices and essential oils specific to your dosha is an important aspect of your yoga practice. In this article, we visit qualities of Kapha dosha, which governs the structure and stability of the body, lubrication of the joints and skin, along with tissue building that provides stamina, stability, and strength. Kapha is primarily located in the chest, throat, head, pancreas, stomach, fat, nose and tongue. The grounded Kapha supplies nutrition, creates bodily tissues and holds bones and muscles together. Ruled by elements earth and water, Kapha can be unconditionally loving, calm and devoted. When out of balance, Kapha yogis are physically prone to upper respiratory illnesses, obesity, along with tendencies of procrastination, stubbornness and over-attachment.
kidney beans, sweet, sour, salty, heavy, oily and cold foods such as ice cream, and deep-fried foods, as these types of foods will increase Kapha in the body. To help balance Kapha dosha in your Yoga Practice: • Kapha will benefit from practicing at warm temperatures and at a more vigorous pace, such as vinyasa, and utilizing Ujjayi breath techniques. It is good for Kapha to challenge oneself and to keep moving allowing short rest periods between poses. Being engaged with entire body paying attention to alignment. • To help balance Kapha, choose asanas that focus on the upper half of the stomach and the chest. Back bends that extend the chest, such as setu bandhasana (bridge pose), bhujangasana (cobra pose) and rajakapotasana (the dove pose), are asanas that will have this effect. Chair pose, rebirth warrior, along with side planks help to open and expand the breath. • Essential Oils to support Kapha: Choose warm, spicy, and stimulat-
ing aromas such as clove, basil, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, juniper, orange, oregano, myrtle, thyme, eucalyptus and marjoram. If you are looking to take your yoga wellness journey deeper and are interested in working with an Ayrevedic Professional, I highly recommend Karla Cain of Sattvic Sage, www.sattvicsage.com. Shannon Chada is a Spiritual Holistic Practitioner of Full Circle Harmony Ministry. She has15+ years experience as an Essential Oil Educator, Reiki Master Teacher and Certified Yoga Instructor, www.FullCircleHarmony.org.
Examples of emotional and physical Kapha overflow are depression, possessiveness, excess mucous production, weight gain, nasal/throat/chest congestion, lethargy, swelling, nausea, diabetes, sluggish digestion and high cholesterol. To balance Kapha dominance, eat smaller amounts of food and emphasize food that is light and dry. Look for foods with pungent, bitter or astringent tastes, along with foods that are hot or sharp. Examples include: puffed cereals, such as puffed rice or corn; astringent grains such as millet or quinoa; bitter vegetables such as leafy greens. Spices like ginger, turmeric and chili are generally good for Kapha people. Kapha would want to steer away from foods such as dairy products, wheat, avocados, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, tofu, CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

COSMIC DAILY WEATHER December 2017 by Kaye Berjot
Overview This month we will experience an array of emotions. As the winter solstice arrives on December 21 you could see yourself wanting to push ahead as you feel the encroaching remnants of shortened days. Do your best to remain calm as the moon becomes your light. On Dec. 3 Mercury will retrograde until Dec. 22. This cosmic event will have
you contemplating events that transpired to the middle part of November; therefore be confident in your decisions because others will do their best to have you rethink them. On Dec. 1, Saturn will finally leave its retrograde zone, presenting you with the opportunity to create new karmic alignments as it makes its way into Capricorn. This is perfect especially when Uranus finally goes direct at the beginning of the year. So, what is this month all about? It’s about bridging gaps between time and space. This means that you get the opportunity to align your true self with your future self, so that you can walk in your own footsteps. Every year around this time, you get this opportunity, yet this year is somehow different. Perhaps that’s because Saturn returns home, or because the wounded healer is finally healed, or simply because Venus meets Saturn in a way that allows you to start fresh. Whatever it is that makes this December different from all of the other Decembers doesn’t really matter because you have new tools that will make the journey ahead worth fighting for. As a side note, I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to share with you my take on the daily planetary movements. For two years, I have been the author of this article. It has helped me heal Chironic wounds that I didn’t even know existed. The Conscious Community Magazine family, of which I count you a member, has helped me grow and expand in ways that I could not have done alone and for that I am truly grateful. This will be my final daily astrology article as I set off on a new journey. I wanted you all to know that I will forever cherish your likes, comments, kind words and feel good emojis that you have provided me with over the course of these years. Please show my predecessor all of the kindness that you have shown me. Love and Light. Muah!
* Please see the end of the month for information about the Moon Void of Course (VoC).

DECEMBER 2017
Friday, December 1
The Moon trines a conjunct Saturn and Mercury in Sagittarius today. This indicates that you have become more versed at directing your emotions and verbal thoughts. A little goes a long way when you deliver the message in a way that is valuable to all who receive it. Moon VoC begins 7:53 PM until tomorrow.
Saturday, December 2
You have learned how to be more disciplined when it comes to balancing the intricacies between you and others. It’s not that you are holding back. It’s that you are recognizing that if you plant your emotional values strategically, they have a better chance of creating the change that you really want in your life. Passive aggressiveness has no place in the new paradigm, so be mindful of this as you start building from the ground up. Moon VoC ends 3:21 PM enters Gemini.
Sunday, December 3
There are three T-Squares in the sky today involving the Moon, Neptune, the Sun, Venus, Pluto, Mars and Uranus. All I can say is that the struggle is real as you triage through your emotional self, others emotions, the past, the future, love, light, boundaries and breakthroughs. Do your best to resist overwhelming yourself and others. Big changes often require big clean ups. Therefore, even though it’s an emotional journey, it is one that needs to be undertaken. Full Moon at 11 degrees Gemini.
Monday, December 4
When the moon lands in communicative Gemini it opposes a conjunct Saturn and Retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius. This could push you to say exactly what’s on your mind as Mars in Libra battles it out with retrograde Uranus in Aries. You’re not likely to let others push you around today, even if that has been the norm. Indecision no longer works. You’ve made your choice, and you’re going to stick with it. Moon VoC begins 1:12 PM until 2:36 PM enters Cancer.
Tuesday, December 5
Now that the Moon is comfortably placed within its home sign of Cancer you can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s either that or let the floodgates open and release fear, uncertainty and doubt. A brand new wave of influences head your way as you release old values that you once held dear. It’s days like today that clear a path towards your future. Water your gardens appropriately and they will eventually bear fruit.
Wednesday, December 6
As the Moon travels through Cancer, it squares Mars and retrograde Uranus while opposing Pluto. This tug of war won’t last for long as you set boundaries and distance yourself from the ties that bind. Prosperity can be yours when you exert the right amount of energy and effort so remember that one step at a time is all it takes. This is one of those moments when time is on your side. Moon VoC 11:55 AM until 2:37 PM enters Leo.
Thursday, December 7
When Venus, the Sun, Mercury and Saturn congregate in Sagittarius, you are bound to gain insight that has the potential to stop you in your tracks. The Moon squaring Mars in Libra and Jupiter in Scorpio could have others in a bit of emotional turmoil causing you to think fast on your feet. Luckily enough, you have been through this rodeo before and you understand how to be compassionate while being stern.
Friday, December 8
When you call upon your intuitive senses, you are able to show others the benefit of learning lessons. Chaos is often there to make us stronger by showing us where the bridges are weak. With a little bit of coaching, others will be able to see that too. Where they see the end, you see the beginning. Moon VoC 4:40 PM until 5:08 PM enters Virgo.
Saturday, December 9
The Sun, Venus, Mercury retrograde and Saturn conjunct today in Sagittarius causing a square to the Moon in Virgo. Emotional health is important for you as you pick and choose your battles. Utilize your blade to cut the cords, rather than using it to harm yourself. You do not have to sacrifice yourself all the time, therefore, give yourself a fighting chance.
Sunday, December 10
Today the Virgo moon analyses patterns. Learning life’s lessons is often determined by ideologies of love, value, connection to others and obligatory duties. Recognizing which duties are yours and which ones are others will become an essential learning tool for you. In this next iteration of your life, you won’t be so willing to take on others baggage because that only creates chaos for you. Learn to create a chaos free zone. Moon VoC 9:02 PM until 11:01 PM enters Libra.
Monday, December 11
Today is a bit of a balancing act as the Moon enters Libra. Basically this means that you must practice what you preach. You can’t run to everyone’s rescue. Some people cry wolf because that’s all they’ve ever known. Therefore, you’ll have to determine whether the sky is falling around you or if it’s a stepping stone.
Tuesday, December 12
Manipulation by others is a very powerful weapon often used to undo your plans and destroy your work. Don’t let others manipulate you in this way. Guilt often disguises itself as love so do your best to see things clearly. The illusion has been broken, and eventually, the other party will see this too.
Wednesday, December 13
Temper tantrums are at an all time high right now. You can often feel change before you hear it, you hear it before you see it, and you often see it before you understand it. This means that there is no use in holding on to faulty scenarios because the truth will be exposed. Neptune, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, the Sun and Saturn have spoken. Moon VoC 6:27 AM until 7:58 PM enters Scorpio.
Thursday, December 14
Today it’s show time when Uranus trines the stellium in Sagittarius and Neptune trines the congregation in Scorpio. As you educate others about what you’ve learned
it becomes obvious that course correction must follow. The beautiful thing about these aspects is that it’s not necessary to turn around and go back to ground zero. What you are doing is showcasing how you are going to pull a rabbit out of a hat. Moon VoC 7:42 PM until tomorrow.
Friday, December 15
Someone in the position of authority sees your vision today. Even though you might find it hard to believe, they have experienced the same things that you have. Your ability to quantify their beliefs has been a real wakeup call and a bit of a relief of the both of you because that was the objective you were being measured on. Moon VoC until 7:07 PM enters Sagittarius.
Saturday, December 16
You could be a little emotional today as you release emotional attachments. Sighs of relief and tears of joy are on the agenda and as the Moon inches closer and closer to Mercury, Venus, the Sun and Saturn. You’ll understand why you had to go through certain obstacles. Uranus wanted you to uncover a different path which was one that exposed your true potential.
Sunday, December 17
With five planets in Sagittarius, you are exposed to many opportunities. Deciding which ones to take can seem overwhelming; yet you know that it’s important to take decisive action. You don’t have to choose disruptive change to get what you need. The only requirement is that you write your destiny in a way that allows you to truly believe in yourself.
Monday, December 18
Redefining the meaning of true love requires you to be present all the time. Questioning your trials and tribulations means that you don’t show up for your own tests. As Mercury continues its last few days retrograde remember that. You are the only one that can live in your future. No one else can do that for you. New Moon in Sagittarius at 12:31 AM. Moon VoC 7:09 AM until 7:33 AM enters Capricorn.
Tuesday, December 19
The wounded healer, Chiron, has been squaring Venus and the Sun for some time; so if there was an undercurrent of pain, now you know why. Roots run deep and as you snip away at the harmful ones you’ll understand what true healing feels like. CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

Wednesday, December 20
The Moon and Pluto meet up today creating a cosmic ka-pow. These are groundbreaking events occurring around you. This change will be fast and furious, and you will love every moment of it. Moon VoC 9:37 AM until 8:29 PM enters Aquarius.
Thursday, December 21
On this Winter Solstice, agendas are being pushed today. Everyone seems to be chasing a deadline which can cause emotions to run rampant. Don’t let aggression get the best of you. Consider what is the most important in your story. Yes, details are important; yet the true importance lies in where you’re headed.
Friday, December 22
Saturn finally makes its way into its home sign of Capricorn while conjuncting the Sun. You are the leader of your destiny, and you start that destiny today. Mercury finally stops its retrograde status and has

led you up to this moment in time. If you hear the choir singing in the background make sure to sing right along with them.
Saturday, December 23
Emotionally you are feeling just fine. Moments like this remind us of the song, “If You’re Happy And You Know It.” There is something to be said about feeling like a kid again, yet with all of the knowledge of adulthood. Moon VoC 4:12 AM until 8:41 AM enters Pisces.
Sunday, December 24
Words misspoken in haste can cloud your judgement, which is why it’s necessary to create boundaries that protect your unconscious state. When you change the frequency, you change the message because you hear what it is that you need to hear because you are directing rather than following. Moon VoC 8:48 PM until tomorrow.
Monday, December 25
Venus meets up with Saturn today at 0 degree Capricorn. Today your worlds mix allowing you to bring love, light and stability into your view. Emotions could run high, yet that’s only because you have changed your perspective and bridged your communal gaps. Moon VoC 6:26 PM enters Aries.
Tuesday, December 26
Today you are on fire as your passions run deep. It’s difficult to contain your excitement so why should you. Be happy, content and on fire.
Wednesday, December 27
When Mercury makes a positive aspect to Uranus and the Moon you have this sense of knowing, yet you can be unsure of what it is that you know. Feeling your way through this sensory connection means that you must vocalize your concerns so that you can address them in a way that doesn’t encourage breakdowns. Moon VoC 2:57 PM until tomorrow.
Thursday, December 28
When the Moon enters Taurus it positively aspects Saturn in Capricorn allowing you to remain grounded. You know what you love and you know on which side your bread has been buttered. Even when you’re away those that hold the keys to your heart are always there with you. Moon VoC until 12:23 AM enters Taurus.
Friday, December 29
The opposition between Mars, Jupiter and the Moon can create a bit of static causing you to be a little stubborn and defensive. Think about what it is that you are building before you go about destroying something that is vital to you. Don’t let your thoughts get the best of you. Moon VoC 8:01 AM until tomorrow.
Saturday, December 30
Now that chaos has been thwarted you have a better grasp on reality. As you prepare for the end of one year and the start of another realize that all of this groundbreaking activity has occurred because you needed a new way to interact with yourself. Moon VoC until 2:31 AM enters Gemini.
Sunday, December 31
Today Mercury in Sagittarius opposes the Moon in Gemini causing us to reflect. As your daily astrologer for these last two years, I find myself on the tail end of a journey that has allowed me to write about what I know about astrology while sharing my intuition with my Conscious Community Magazine family. It has been a real honor and one that I will always cherish. Like many of you, I too am moving on to a new journey in my life and with every like, comment and heart emoji just know that you have helped me to heal my own Chiron in ways that I never would have been able to do alone. Please show my predecessor the same kindness and love that you have shown me. Namaste. Moon VoC begins 5:38 PM until tomorrow. The Moon Void of Course (VoC) is the time period from when the Moon makes its last aspect in one sign before moving into the next sign. The Moon is the fastest-moving planet, and transitions from one sign into the next every 1-3 days. What that means is that the Moon is constantly in motion, it’s never retrograde, so it’s inevitable that she will connect with “something,” i.e. another planet or transit, until the moment that she doesn’t. During the moments when she doesn’t connect, we call it the Moon Void of Course. When these events occur, the best things to do are to meditate, sit still and listen to your higher guidance. Sitting still does not mean to physically sit still, although that can be beneficial.

HEALTHY COOKIES WITH SUPERFOODS by Janae Jean What’s in season this holiday season? Winter squash? Root vegetables? To me, the holiday season is cookie season! We all have our family favorites. Many of us have family and friends with dietary concerns that make this time of year difficult to suit their needs. I flipped through some of my favorite recipes and innovated some gluten-free vegan versions.
ALMONDS
MATCHA Japanese matcha powder is a finely ground green tea. It is packed with antioxidants, fiber, zinc, magnesium and amino acids. It comes in many grades, but I suggest using the high quality ceremonial grade for the best flavor. Matcha is known to increase caloric burn and provides energy without the jitters for which coffee is known.
CACAO
Almonds are tree nuts, which contain saturated fatty acids, unsaturated fatty acids, fiber, protein and antioxidants. Almonds lead to satiety, and those who eat them daily reduce their overall caloric intake. According to Ayurvedic tradition, almonds may increase intellectual level and longevity.
Cacao is rich in antioxidants. Raw cacao has up to four times the antioxidants than Dutch processed cocoa. Cacao can improve health of your heart, cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation. It is known to release positive brain chemicals including: endorphins, anandamide, phenylethylamine and serotonin.
