The Colors of my life
My name is Lupita. I was born on December 15, 1970. I was born in a beautiful circus.
Soon after my birth, my mother became a star in another country’s famous circus.
She flew one day and left me in a place where everything was dark as a storm with thunders.
Everything scared me.
But in that place there was an old lady,
she was my grandmother. She was pretty with
hair like cotton and wrinkled skin as coconut leaf.
I begged God that time moved as fast as the clouds in the sky and when I thought of her, it was the most beautiful day in my life.
It was Christmas Eve when someone knocked the door and I answered. It was a colorful day: it was my mother.
I was happy because for all the kids of my age, there was a party, gifts and colors.
At midnight, we lit up fireworks that shined into the sky’s darkness.
At dawn, my mother said to me: “Lupita, we’re going to a new place. There, there’s a very handsome and strong man waiting us. His name is Roberto”.
It was the first time that I met my father. I looked at him from behind: he wasn’t like my friends’ fathers. He was different. He had long hair in a ponytail, his face was painted with the colors of the rainbow.
His name was: Cannon-Clown
I got close and he hugged me. I felt like he was strong as a bear and fast as a cannon.
Later, I met my brothers and sisters: Xiomara Estrella: a beautiful girl with eyes blue as the ocean and Jerรณnimo: a cute boy and the best clown in the circus. Daniela was there too: the contortionist that bended like clay and last was: Yesenia, she likes animals, lions and snakes.
Soon after I became an artist myself.
I was the best star in the small stage of the circus. I loved it!
When they announced: there she comes! The Japanese! I went out smiling to the crowd and my act was the strength of my hair. My hair was long and strong. I was lifted to the top of the tent. I felt like a bird flying around.
I remember that in one performance they called me: Paty “the coquette” and when music started and I was dancing, all the men were saying:
“Baby girl, yes, just like that, shake it, tasty like chocolate”.
I was blushing. Red as an apple.
In that circus, I met a handsome young man, Coffee-clown. I liked him and married him.
I had beautiful children with him that grew so fast like the clouds that fly in the sky.
My children grew and became famous. I went to a place where I met many more friends and they showed me a place filled with sadness and darkness.
For me everything is joy in this dark place even when my family is far away, I know they are filled with happiness and beautiful colors.
In this place, everything is sorrow tears and sorrow. But I said to myself: “I´m a clown and I’m going to bring happiness to this place”.
