Moments in my life
There are many things that people have never imagined in their lives.
I had a chance to see them with my own eyes.
I had the pleasure to see many cultures, different nationalities, and live with my family,
but with time I learned how to see life differently.
The first time I traveled to the US, I went with my sister Sandra. I was three years old and she was seven. A month after we got there, we started to go to school. Lucky us, we started to learn English, and that is why we are bilinguals. My sister helped me with my homework.
I had the chance to touch snow! Something that I could have never thought of doing!
I saw many things in my years in the United States. The most special place I went was the NASA space base. I was in a spaceship that is at a museum.
It was so big, that when I came up close I almost fell into my back. I couldn’t see it whole, and I still had to see it inside.
I liked being there; it was very easy to get used to be there. I went to school, but could not understand much. So I stopped.
Years later, I got to travel to Monterrey, Mexico. There I met one of the most important friends of my life. His name is David;
he was the one who taught me how to ride a bicycle that looked like a motorcycle.
Even though I left school my grandmother kept me busy. I helped her sell tostadas- that’s how the Mexicans called them- with a lot of chili and orange juice.
After 4 months in Mexico, it was time to go back to the United States. Classes were about to start in my school.
I spent 2 more years in Junior High there.
After a while, because of different reasons, I had to go back to El Salvador.
Out of curiosity I visited Honduras. I went to the beaches of La Ceiba and Roatรกn. There, there were many Caribbean people, with darker skin, lovely people.
After going to Honduras, I came back to my homeland.
My lovely El Salvador.
Now, I understand the principles and values from different cultures. I know traditions and different ways of being. I also realize how important my country is and see the fruits that the harvest gives. Now that I am older, I’m proud to say that from a very young age, I got to learn about different cultures, traditions, foods and more.
