Slow-cooked Rump Beef with Brandy
Meet Your COOK
The signatures on our labels aren’t the invention of slick marketers. They’re the signatures of the real, living people who cooked your food. Just to prove it, here’s a photo of Darren Card – as you can see, he’s real and living and a chef at our Kitchen in Kent.

Hello,
Discovery is our theme for summer and there are loads of amazing new flavours and recipes to discover inside. They don’t need a sales pitch and I’ll let you explore for yourself. Instead, I want to tell you about my own voyage of discovery, trying to work out exactly WHY we do what we do. It took me to Boulder, Colorado last autumn and a gathering of B Corporations - a movement of nearly 1,000 companies that believe business should be a force for good in society (Ben & Jerry’s and Patagonia are two you might have heard of). All these B Corps have passed a rigorous assessment to make sure they practice what they preach. As a business, COOK has always been about more than just making money. After Boulder, I was convinced becoming one of the UK’s first B Corps was a no-brainer. The B Corp movement is about redefining the meaning of business success. At COOK, we want to be a good business but we want to be good in many other ways too. We’re far from perfect, but I’m proud to say we’re now officially a B Corp.

The grill: it’s a state of mind not a cooking appliance. Which is just as well, as an actual grill is surplus to requirements when it comes to our gourmet barbecue grub. Everything cooks from frozen in your oven (yes, even the steaks!). So keep your freezer well-stocked and you’ll never be caught out by an unexpectedly warm weekend. (You can even finish things off for a minute or two over the flames).
Ultimate COOK Beef Burgers (2 burgers) 3.95 Brioche Style Burger Buns (2 buns) 1.49
Two 6oz burgers (that’s big and meaty, for those unacquainted with imperial measures), and posh buns made with cream so they’re perfectly soft and fluffy. It’s all about the umami – that’s ooo-maam-eee. It’s the fifth taste our tongues can detect (after sweet, salt, sour and bitter). Umami is a lovely rich, savoury flavour and our burgers are bursting with it, thanks to a secret blend of familiar kitchen cupboard sauces mixed in with the beef. We’ve served our burgers simply - with lettuce, mayo and a spoonful of The COOK Slaw (p10) - but the constitution of a burger is a very personal thing, so feel free to express yourself.

er DiNsScAToIOv NA L SE SALADS
OK, so a frozen “salad” sounds a bit weird, we grant you. But trust us on this one: the taste and texture are going to amaze you. Blast freezing locks in flavour and goodness immediately after the salad is prepared, so everything tastes much “fresher” than it would if it had been sitting on a supermarket shelf or in your fridge for a few days. Go on, embrace the weirdness! Beetroot & Feta Salad (large) 9.50 Roasted wedges of beetroot with julienne of celeriac in an olive oil dressing infused with dill and fennel seeds. Topped with crumbled Greek Feta. Persian Salad (small) 3.95 / (large) 8.50

Do the Tapas Thing...
Forget all that formal main course nonsense. If you’re getting friends over for a summer supper it’s so much better to have a selection of amazing flavours to share.
