COPPULL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER JULY 2011 A big thank you to all pupils, staff, parents and Governors for a really successful school year.    

The children have worked hard and made good progress. We have increased the number of school trips which have enlivened the children’s learning. The range of PE & Sport activities available has increased dramatically & resulted in our school receiving an award for the most improved school for PE & Sport in Chorley. We have further developed the school grounds with new equipment & increased the amount of fruit & vegetables we have grown. I wish everyone a good summer break and lets hope the weather improves!!! Mrs J Stallard Headteacher School Uniform We do have plenty of school uniform items & school bags in stock. We have information in the school office about a local Name Tape Sewing Service. 50p per name tape. Please note that only black shoes or black trainers are to be worn in school. No heels or ballet pumps should be worn that can slip off when running. PE Kit that should be worn in school is white T shirt, black shorts and black pumps. Games Kit should be trainers, black jogging pants and a red hooded top. Textile Bank We now have a Textile Bank situated at the front of school which will take clothes, bedding & shoes. If you are having a ‘ sort out’ during the summer you will be able to deposit any old items in September when school re-opens. Clothes should be placed in a bag & shoes should be tied in pairs. More information will follow in September.

COPPULL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEW WEBSITE The new Coppull Primary School website was launched on Monday 20th June 2011. The website address is www.coppullprimary.com All of the latest letters, school news, the school prospectus, photographs, samples of pupils work and newsletters are available. online. Educational and „just for fun‟ games are available in the Pupil Zone. Any announcements ie: school closures will be displayed on the home page.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY School closes for summer after school on Friday 22nd July 2011 and re-opens on Tuesday 6th September 2011.

LOST PROPERTY If your child has lost any items of clothing or footwear please come into school to check the lost property box before Friday 22nd July. Any items left after that time will be disposed of.

The photographer will be in school on Tuesday 27th September to take individual & family photographs. Letters will be sent home in the autumn term.

Please pay any outstanding Dinner Money immediately to the school office so that records can be kept up to date. This is very important for Y6 pupils who are leaving Coppull Primary on Friday 22nd July. If you would like your child to stay for school lunches they are £9.25 per week payable in advance on a Friday. The school meal menu offers a wide variety of different meals, the menu’s can be viewed in the school foyer. If you already qualify for free school meals this should continue in September. However, if your circumstances have changed and you no longer qualify or you now think you may qualify please contact the Pupil Access Team on 01772 531812.

SPORTS NEWS AND ACHIEVEMENTS The school has entered lots of sports competitions during the summer term. Southlands High School hosted a football competition for Y3-Y6 boys and girls. We won two and came third in the other. The girls cricket team won the Chorley School competition and represented the Borough at County level. The mixed cricket team managed to win the qualifier held at Charnock Richard and did very well in the finals. At the Chorley School rounder‟s tournament the children played really well, winning one of their three games.

Y6 competed in Crown Green Bowling against St Oswald‟s Primary school on Friday 15th July. Unfortunately we were narrowly beaten, however, all of the children received a medal.

OPEN DAY: Saturday 23rd July 2011 2pm—4pm Coppull Youth Centre Springfield Road, Coppull. “Only A Year To Go” to Olympics 2012 Urban Street Soccer Trampoline Zumba Dance Body Combat Free Climbing Wall Athletics Dodge Ball Basket Ball Plus a special drama improvisation of Comedysportz from Comedy Club, Manchester.
