Leadership and Political Engagement Political Science Degree
Students Ellie Bartlow '14 and Leisha Anderson '14 talking with Representatives Kevin Cameron and Sherrie Sprenger
Our hope is in Christ and His power to create change in politics
I am honored to lead this innovative and highlyintentional initiative in faith and politics integration. The Pacific Northwest needs strong Christian leaders in every vocation. Since 1935 Corban University has been preparing Christian leaders to engage with an increasingly pluralist society.
...we present our students as a Corban, “a gift to God. These are exciting and challenging times in politics for Christians because our society is fragmented by divergent and competing cultural and spiritual values.
...we choose to view it as an opportunity. Our faculty are well-equipped to prepare students for the challenges of political leadership through a rigorous political science degree built on the foundation of a Christian worldview. Upon graduation, students are ready to enter graduate school, business, law, and non-profit professions, or start their own political organizations, each of which provides them with further leadership experiences required of political office. During their course of study, students will have many opportunities to network with and foster professional relationships with politically-engaged educators, legislators, and church and civic leaders that will benefit them in establishing themselves as leaders in their community.
...we shape students as intentional Christian thought leaders. For more information contact Tony Caito, Assistant Professor of Political Science: 503-375-7081 or tcaito@corban.edu Visit us on the web at: undergrad.corban.edu/lpe

What people are saying “Our Christian faith is relevant in today’s culture and this program is offered from a Christian worldview. If you don’t know what you believe and why when engaging in the political process, you are unable to give reason for and stand firm on your convictions.” Leisha Anderson (‘14)
Intern for Oregon Representative John Davis and Senator Tim Knopp
“Our republic is best served when those who lead are “citizen-legislators “ - those who understand the servant-leader model and that public service is the duty of every citizen – not just the privilege of the elected few. Training servant leaders is at the core of Corban University’s mission. I am proud to be associated with Corban University’s program to prepare leaders to be involved in the political process.” Gene Derfler
former Oregon Senate President
“The internships prepare students for their careers by giving an experiential background in how the political process works whether that is in Salem, Washington D.C., or another capital. You interact with the public on many different levels and that is a rewarding experience, even for students who might not go into politics as a career.” Samuel Pearson (‘13)
Intern for U.S. Representative Greg Walden
