GALLERY. ENTRY TO THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY IS ABSOLUTELY FREE, SO PLEASE DROP IN ANY TIME. From local amateur artwork to contemporary craft or photography, our programme is mixed so our exhibitions appeal to all tastes. See our website for ‘How to Exhibit your work at Cornerstone’.

THE INVISIBLES 28 August – 30 September

This reflective exhibition is the response from a group of mature arts students to the theme of loss and disappearance and its effect on the human condition. The artists work in a variety of mediums including pastels, sculpture, print, illustration and multi media, creating a varied and interesting exhibition.

THE BIG DRAW 6 and 7 October

Join us for the national event which aims to get everyone drawing. With over 1500 events organised across the UK, don’t miss your opportunity to be involved, right on your doorstep. Have fun with paper, pens and crayons in the gallery to draw snowflakes for our Winter Wonderland.

CONTEMPORARY CRAFT FAIR 13 and 14 October

For one weekend only we will dedicate our gallery space to local and regional crafts people. Come and look for gifts, or a treat for yourself – choose from a stunning range of crafts. Last year’s fair included jewellery, textiles, wooden homewares, ceramics, glass, fashion accessories, metalwork and sculpture. See our website to download an application form to exhibit at the fair, the closing date is Sunday 26 August.

ANNE GRIFFITHS 18 October – 25 November

Step into the world of Alice in Wonderland, told by textile artist Anne Griffiths, who has illustrated her favourite scenes using hand and machine stitch onto gauzes and transpaent fabrics. Anne’s beautiful textiles conjure up stories from the book, using intricate sewing techniques and details, in this highly imaginative exhibition.

WINTER WONDERLAND 29 November – 23 December

See the transformation of our gallery into a seasonal wonderland! A colony of penguins, made by local schools, groups and visitors to Cornerstone settle in the gallery for the festive season, joined by a sky filled with hand-drawn snowflakes and sound installations to create a truly magical environment.
