Parents say: A casualty is transferred to road ambulance after the Search and Rescue helicopter landed at Bickleigh

Search and rescue (SAR) helicopters bound for Derriford hospital have landed at Bickleigh Barracks, in Plymouth, the home of 42 Commando Royal Marines, for the first time. The Plymouth based Royal Marines offered their football pitch as a landing site after the hospital lost the use of their previous site at the nearby University of St Mark & St John. The first landing took place in January when an RAF Rescue Sea King, from Chivenor based 22 Squadron (A Flight), landed to transfer a casualty from elsewhere to a waiting ambulance. Sea Kings are too large for the current landing site at the hospital and require an ambulance to transport casualties over the final leg of their journey. A £2 million plan was announced in

September to build a new helipad at the hospital which will be capable of handling the huge SAR helicopters. The regular SAR landings will be just another feature of daily life at the busy Bickleigh Barracks as marines there prepare to leave for imminent training exercises in the icy temperatures of northern Norway. 42 Commando Royal Marines are one of three deployable units which form the global reach of 3 Commando Brigade.

“My boy loves nursery and I am recommending everyone to come here. I’m really happy.” Prince Rock parent

“I have viewed plenty of nurseries before making my final choice; by far the staff were the friendliest and most welcoming in Noah’s Ark.” City Centre parent “This nursery has helped my child loads. He started going when he was a very shy 18 month year old. He is now 3 and his confidence has grown dramatically… I would have no hesitation in sending my future child here.” Cattedown parent

“I love this nursery, they are excellent with the children and are always willing to help and answer any questions I may have. Outstanding!” Devonport parent “Brilliant nursery, my daughter loves it and has come on loads in her development.” Plymstock parent “The most caring and friendly nursery I have ever known.” Stonehouse parent “I’m over the moon I made the right decision in sending my boy to Noah’s Ark and he has done really well.” Efford parent
