A group of Marjon students have won a prestigious national award for their efforts in raising awareness of the lifetransforming work of the speech and language therapy profession. The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) presented the Marjon Give Voice’ student group with a national Giving Voice Award. This prestigious accolade recognises the students’ creative commitment to raising awareness of the cost-saving, life-transforming work of the speech and language therapy profession. Earlier this year the group organised a

series of events both on campus and in the city centre to provide the local community with a greater understanding of how speech and language therapists help people with communication needs. In addition to these activities, the students wrote, performed and recorded an inspiring Giving Voice video which they uploaded onto YouTube to spread their message even further. One of the Marjon Give Voice student winners, Lucy Singer, said: “It was a great experience bringing the class’s ideas and talents together to create an event which spread across Plymouth to reach such a wide and enthusiastic audience. The Giving Voice team were all very supportive and were always available to offer advice and ideas.”
