HAY House

Visiting HAY House is always a highlight of my trips to Copenhagen. This year’s 3daysofdesign was exceptional, showcasing a revamped HAY House that blends bold use of colour with Danish design sensibility and quality. The immersive exhibition, including upcoming launches, the ASICS collaboration, and the LOCALE 21 restaurant takeover of the fourth floor, beautifully illustrated HAY’s innovation and heritage.

Set against Copenhagen harbour, Fritz Hansen’s ‘ISLANDS OF WELLBEING’ showcased extraordinary design in visionary architecture for outdoor lounging, hospitality, and workspaces. The collaboration between Fritz Hansen and Cobe architects at Operaparken and Papirøen and the premiere of Fritz Hansen’s outdoor collection beautifully illustrated the future of wellbeing through innovative design.
PP Møbler Workshop Tour

I’ve always been a big fan of PP Møbler’s work, so visiting their workshop was a real treat. I was blown away by the incredible craftsmanship behind shaping their products’ complex forms, something machines just can’t do alone. Watching the craftsmen work with each piece of wood, adapting to its unique grain and using their hands to perfect the shape, really showed me the irreplaceable value of their skill and dedication.

CULT Brands
&Tradition invited guests to join its global community through an immersive exhibition in its Copenhagen home. Introducing new products and a new classic designer to their roster, this curated experience presented their network in a culmination of international design. Guiding guests through a collection infused with character and unique expression, &Tradition reaffirmed their commitment to preserving icons of the past while creating the classics of tomorrow. In addition, guests were encouraged to dine as part of the Quarter Past Noon community in the Lille Petra café, with a menu featuring dishes from their travels throughout the year. Carl Hansen & Søn invited guests to explore lighting and furniture novelties by Hans J. Wegner, Rikke Frost, Børge Mogensen, Henning Koppel and Kaare Klint. The flagship store in the heart of Copenhagen was transformed into the exhibition "Shaping the Future" highlighting the 110th anniversary of Wegner, while the courtyard featured outdoor news by EOOS and Gudmundur Ludvik.

Visitors discovered new and reintroduced creations from designers such as Jasper Morrison, Barber Osgerby, Damian Williamson, Nanna Ditzel, Kaare Klint, and Børge Mogensen, along with exciting previews and timeless icons. They immersed themselves in the Fredericia legacy and its deeply rooted values through a dedicated craft exhibition that explored the techniques behind crafting the icons that have stood the test of time. At Fredericia, the commitment to precision, sustainability, and craftsmanship was evident in every piece, showcasing the art of patience and the pursuit of excellence.
Fritz Hansen presented ISLANDS OF WELLBEING - an exploration of extraordinary design in visionary architecture.
Over 12,000 visitors explored inspirational settings for hospitality, inviting workplace design, and saw the global premiere of Fritz Hansen’s extraordinary outdoor collection at Operaparken, Væksthuset and Papirøen – three incredible new harbourside destinations by Cobe architects.

GUBI invited visitors to discover and explore the intersection of color and texture – the point where shade and surface met, and the emotions they inspired. Alongside new furniture and lighting editions from designers like Pierre Paulin and Mathieu Matégot, GUBI unveiled fresh material concepts from contemporary studios such as Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt and GamFratesi in a colorful and graphic display. The revered Italian fabric house Dedar and sustainable leather specialists at Sørensen Leather collaborated with GUBI to showcase a tactile textile and leather installation. Additionally, for UNICEF, GUBI presented a collaboration featuring its iconic Pacha Lounge Chair in surplus fabrics to support children worldwide.

Setting the scene for guests at this year’s 3daysofdesign, HAY overhauled its flagship store, HAY House, located in an eighteenth-century building in the heart of Copenhagen.
HAY joined forces with Copenhagen’s new local favorite, LOCALE 21, to bring the best of casual Italian dining to HAY House. HAY curated products from all parts of its legacy to create the restaurant. Among others, guests dined with the Barro Collection by Rui Pereira, the Rey Collection by Bruno Rey for Dietiker in collaboration with HAY, STUDIO0405’s new Tiny Vase, and Marc Morro’s new Taburete 8 Bar Stool.

Guests joined Karakter at Galerie Mikael Andersen, nestled in the historic street Bredgade in the heart of Copenhagen, to celebrate the visionary works of some of the most influential designers of the past century. The showcase featured reissued lamps by the renowned 1970s Italian sculptor and designer Angelo Mangiarotti, alongside mid-century masterpieces by Danish architect Bodil Kjær, and contemporary creations by Dutch designer Aldo Bakker.

Exploring their longstanding heritage with exceptional lighting design, Louis Poulsen celebrated their 150th anniversary at this year’s 3daysofdesign.
Founded in 1874, the Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen creates products that encompass the duality of design and light. Every detail in the design has a purpose. Every design starts and ends with light. Louis Poulsen offers a range of lighting aimed at the commercial and domestic lighting markets, with illumination and solutions for both indoor and outdoor applications. In close partnership with designers, architects and other talents like Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Øivind Slaatto, Alfred Homann, Louise Campbell and Oki Sato, Louis Poulsen has established itself as one of the key global suppliers of architectural and decorative lighting and has a global presence with showrooms world wide.

During 3daysofdesign, Mater launched their new biodegradable furniture collection, ALDER, by Patricia Urquiola. The ALDER collection is made of biodegradable plastic mixed with either coffee or wood waste—natural materials that can eventually return to nature. For the presentation at 3daysofdesign, Mater and Patricia Urquiola teamed up with Danish studio Tableau to create a captivating, must-see installation that celebrated the use of natural materials in the design industry.

For this year’s 3daysofdesign, Montana Furniture unveiled exciting novelties at its Copenhagen showroom, welcoming visitors into a world of vibrant hues. Under the theme ‘Dream in Full Colour,’ guests were invited to explore playful spaces and discover comforting yet innovative interior color schemes. Visitors had the opportunity to be among the first to experience exclusive new launches, design collaborations, thoughtprovoking talks, a panel discussion, and a live broadcasted podcast.

Nanimarquina unveiled its latest 2024 collections during 3daysofdesign at the Ruby Atelier Gallery, showcasing rugs as authentic artworks, transcending their utilitarian nature. Among the highlights were the Colorado collection by Inga Sempé, new designs from the Chillida collection, the Wabisabi collection by Nani Marquina, and the Pearls collection by Sabine Finkenauer. The gallery was transformed into a quasi-theatrical backdrop, seamlessly blending carefully selected pieces by Nanimarquina. Curated by Openhouse and styled by Henriette Schou and Pernille Vest, the exhibit presented Nanimarquina and Expormim in an elevated setting, showcasing them as curated pieces.
Nemo Lighting participated in 3daysofdesign at its showroom in the center of Copenhagen. After showcasing new designs by Lina Bo Bardi and Álvaro Siza at the vibrant Milan Design Week 2024, Nemo Lighting welcomed visitors to discover the eclectic spirit of its catalogue, always characterized by a strong search for balance between tradition and innovation.

PP Møbler celebrated the 75th anniversary of Hans J. Wegner’s masterpiece, the pp501 Round Chair, which marked a significant breakthrough for Hans J. Wegner personally and for Danish design exports in general, becoming known simply as The Chair.

At 3daysofdesign, SOFTLINE took over the raw and rustic venue PRESSEN in Central Copenhagen and transformed it into an inspiring design universe filled with lounge chairs, sofas, modular sofas, sofa beds, and even an alcove system. All pieces were designed, developed, and produced in Denmark. SOFTLINE also introduced new and exciting textiles and colors, carefully selected to inspire and spark creativity, helping visitors find the mix of furniture, fabrics, and style that matched their vision. For 3daysofdesign 2024, Vipp celebrated its 85th anniversary with a special exhibition dedicated to the brand’s heritage in design and metalwork.
The showrooms at Vipp headquarters underwent a significant transformation. Visitors discovered the new V3 aluminum kitchen and received an exclusive preview of upcoming Vipp designs and novelty upholsteries, including a new furniture duo for the Open-Air collection, as well as a long-anticipated stainless-steel bin and accessory collection.

During 3daysofdesign, Wendelbo and Paper Collective joined forces in a collaborative exhibition. Hosted within Wendelbo’s recently unveiled showroom, this exhibition served as a platform to showcase both new and established designers from Wendelbo’s curated portfolio. With a deliberate nod to Wendelbo’s rich history of upholstery traditions, the exhibition featured a selection of distinctive artworks, delicately printed on fabrics handpicked from Wendelbo’s fabric collection. Each piece embodied the intertwining threads of creativity and tactile sensibility, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the interplay of texture, design, and art.
