Tiny the T-Rex - Story Script

W

Today we’re off to meet a dinosaur - a T-Rex! His name is Tiny! He’s a very young T-Rex. Pretty much the same age as you! To visit Tiny we have to travel back in time…by about one hundred million years! Now here’s the big secret, to go back in time we have to cross over a rainbow!

IE

First we need to make a rainbow and for that we need sun and rain! Let’s start with the sun. Coming up to stand, reach your arms up nice and high to say Hello sun. Now folding forwards we wave at the ground and say Hello Earth! We step a leg back to start our sun engine! Beep beep! Step both legs back, lower to our belly, hands under our shoulders and wiggle up like a ssssnake! Tuck your toes, lift your hips to the sky and let’s hear your woofy dog sound. Woof woof! Lift a leg and wag it like a tail, then step forward, starting your sun engine again on the other side beep beep! We step our other leg forward and wave down to the earth again - Hello Earth and stretch up tall waving at the sun saying Hello Sun! Now for the rain – pitter patter. All over our heads, faces, arms, legs and whole body! Look! In the sky we’ve made a ginormous rainbow. It arcs over one way and over the other way too. The rainbow makes a bridge for us. When we cross it we’ll be back in the time of the dinosaurs! Yay!

EV

Coming up to stand! Wow! Up ahead we see Egg Mountain. Coming into our Mountain pose. This is where Tiny the T-Rex lives! Standing tall and still like Egg Mountain, we take in the world as it looks in the age of Dinosaurs. So green and lush! Let’s climb up this mountain now and go find Tiny… at the egg patch. We take big steps up the side of Egg Mountain. At the top we find the Egg Patch. Lots of dinosaur eggs all huddled together. Let’s try our egg pose and see if we can balance, lifting our toes off the floor. Lots of the eggs seemed to have already cracked. This means the baby dinosaurs have hatched!

PR

Look! Here comes Tiny the T-Rex! Coming into our dinosaur pose! Here he comes clomping over with his big dinosaur feet. Clomp clomp clomp clomp! He’s making his baby t rex sound. Arrrrrggggghhhhh! He comes up to stand and gives us an ginormous hug! Oh lovely to see you Tiny! He’s very excited to see us! “Hooray! You made it! Let’s go to the Candy Cave to celebrate and go get some candies and sweeties! My favourites are the DinoPops!”

Well! We didn’t know that dinosaurs eat sweets and candy – but clearly Tiny does! So off we go! Here we are at the Candy Cave. Coming into our cave pose! Inside we find it buzzing with lots and lots of honey bees! We come to sit with our legs crossed and do a bumble bee breath! Wow! That was a really good buzzy bee sound! Tiny asks for some of his favourite sweeties. “Please can I have some DinoPops?” The bees wrap up a bag of the DinoPops in a nice leaf. Rolling our hands around each other saying wrrrraaaaaaap them up! We say Namaste to thank the bees.

Outside the Candy Cave we find a broken branch. We sit on the broken branch in a squat position, eating the DinoPops and having a lovely chat with Tiny about what it’s like being a dinosaur!

W

He tells us that it’s pretty cool except one thing – he’s got all these teeth and he keeps getting tooth ache! And right now he has a wobbly tooth! Well we know that our baby teeth do fall out naturally but seeing how much Tiny loves his candy – that must be one of the reasons for the toothache – he must be getting cavities or holes in his teeth. We wonder if he knows about how to look after his teeth, like we we do?!

IE

“If we eat lots of sugary sweet things, we end up getting holes in our teeth! And we feel pain in them - that’s tooth ache! “

Let’s take Tiny to visit some other animals with big teeth like his and see what they do to look after their teeth.

EV

Along the water’s edge we find a rather grand looking crocodile! It’s Colonel Crockles the crocodile! Stretched out - with his mouth wide open! He explains that after visiting Dr Flossy the Dentist he now cleans his teeth every morning and night and it’s stopped him getting tooth ache. We sit back on our heels kneeling and move forward to hands and knees to peer inside Colonel Crockles mouth. Wow! Inside we see lots of little tweety plover birds – they tweet and peck away at all the left over food in Colonel Crockles mouth! What a cool way to keep your teeth clean! Tiny can see this might be a good idea for him too!

PR

“It’s helpful to learn from others how they look after themselves. We all have to learn to take care of ourselves.”

Further into the water we can see a large fin poking up! It’s a shark! Shona the Shark! She lols over lifting up to smile at us with her big pearly white toothy smile. We ask Shona how she keeps her smile in such good condition. “Well Dr Flossy, the Dentist said I need to be careful that I don’t eat and drink too much of the stuff that will rot my teeth… And to keep them clean I have my friends the Pilot fish to help! This is Gnash and Fang!” Bobbing up to say hello are two little pilot fish. Coming into our fish pose. Just like the tweety plover birds, they swim into Shona’s mouth to clean out the leftover food and keep her teeth nice and clean! How fantastic!

Perhaps we should take Tiny to visit this dentist everyone keeps talking about – Dr Flossy. Together with Tiny we clomp through the ferns and the swamps. We arrive at the Gum Tree (tree pose) where Dr Flossy the Dentist has her dental practice. Let’s see how big we can make our smile while we’re in our tree pose. Ding! And the other side. Ding! Lovely smiles! We take a seat in the waiting area - hugging our knees in tight. Tiny is feeling a bit scared of seeing the Dentist, but we tell him that it’s ok. We just need to stay calm and know that the dentist will be kind and make our teeth feel much better.

IE

“By staying calm and breathing slowly, we make visiting the dentist very easy. ”

It’s time for Tiny’s appointment. So he takes a seat in the dentist’s chair. Coming into chair pose. In comes Dr Flossy the Dentist who is in fact a crab! She gently digga diggas one way into Tiny’s wide open mouth and digga diggas the other way to have a good look and count all the teeth. She sits herself down and uses her claw (lifting one foot) to clean out all the sugar bugs. Then she uses her other claw (lifting the other foot) to gently wiggle the wobbly tooth - pointing and flexing our foot like a wobbly tooth going forward and back. All of a sudden it comes out! Tiny didn’t even notice.

EV

Sitting with legs crossed, Dr Flossy tells Tiny that he needs to look after his teeth by cleaning them every morning and night. And not to eat or drink too many sugary things otherwise his teeth will be full of holes. Dr Flossy gives Tiny his tooth to take home! We say Namaste to Dr Flossy the Dentist. On the way back to the egg patch we help Tiny make a toothbrush using the ferns and a big stick. Sitting with legs out long, we pick up one foot to be the ferns. Stretching and straightening our leg - this can be the handle! It’s a giant toothbrush compared to the one we use! We show Tiny how we clean our teeth using the giant toothbrush doing our rowing move and teach him a special song!

PR

Brush, brush, brush your teeth. Brush them every day. If you do not brush your teeth, they will rot away.

Using our other leg now in our giant toothbrush rowing pose!

Brush, brush, brush your teeth, keep them nice and clean. If you do not brush your teeth, they’ll turn brown and green.

Back at the egg patch Tiny shows us his bedroom in the moss. We tell him about the tooth fairy who will visit him tonight when he’s asleep. We show him what the tooth fairy looks like doing a fairy dancer pose. He’s excited about the tooth fairy visiting tonight and so we dig in our digging pose a hole in the moss to put the tooth into. We know that back in our own time, Tiny’s tooth would be a fossil! Look it’s raining again. And the sun’s still out - stretching up to say hello sun. This means our rainbow is back! We’d better go catch it so we can get home. We hug Tiny to say goodbye. Then head out over the rainbow one way and then the other way. Back in our own time on the other side of the rainbow, we crawl tiredly into our beds. Taking a moment to rest and relax lying on our tummies.

Relaxation

W

In our dreams we think back to the calmness we felt when we went to the dentist and how that made Tiny feel ok about his visit. Then in our dream we see the tooth fairy. Oh it looks like there might be three fairies – They’re riding on a bear. The first tooth fairy is called Winkin and tells us to be kind to our teeth by not eating too many sugary snacks – and this includes dried fruit! The next fairy is called Blinkin and tells us to be kind to our teeth and tongue by not drinking too many sugary drinks. The last fairy is called Nod – who tells us to take care of our teeth by brushing them twice every day and keeping them clean. We love how our mouths feel after we brush our teeth – we have a fresh feeling on our breath that feels clean and pure. MMm.
