Funny old world
In the small town of Blokhus, Denmark, the world’s tallest sandcastle has been constructed. Weighing in at nearly 5,000 tonnes and soaring to a height of 20 metres, it has exceeded its predecessor by three metres. Master builder Wilfred Stijger took inspiration from the global pandemic when creating this masterpiece and included a striking representation of the virus wearing a crown atop the castle - alluding to its worldwide control. Assisted by 30 expert sand sculptors, he added vibrant local features such as windsurfing, beach houses, fish and lighthouses to make it even more spectacular. Unfortunately though, this remarkable work of art will not stand the test of time - containing only 10 percent clay with glue for extra protection against winter weather, it is expected to be lost by next year.
