Dog Training & Development What puppies and dogs experience has a huge impact on their behaviorespecially if these experiences happen when a puppy is young. Many behavior problems can be prevented with early socialization and positive, consistent training during puppyhood and adolescence. Having clear structure and boundaries for your canine companion is also important. Your canine needs to know what is allowed, and you need to know how to portray the rules in a clear way so there can be mutual understanding. Positive outlets for energy are necessary for every dog on a daily basis. The right mix of physical and mental exercise will help your dog be a better companion. The Coulee Region Humane Society is dedicated to helping owners and their canine companions through individual counseling as well as a classroom environment. We offer support for you to help develop a solid relationship using positive training techniques. Visit www.couleehumane.com to learn more about the current puppy and dog classes available at the shelter. Information about certified dog trainer, Shirlery Richards, can also be found online.

Urgent Need: Foster Care Parents! Hundreds of lives have been saved so far because of the Coulee Region Humane Society’s Foster Care program. Since its implementation nearly three years ago, nearly 1,000 animals have received care through the program. More than 500 animals received foster care through the humane society last year; numbers surpass 300 this year. Orphaned neonate kittens, who, left alone, cannot survive, are the most common animals in need of foster care. The Coulee Region Humane Society has taken in dozens of litters this year so far and is always in need of help. Foster care is the most direct way you can impact the life of a shelter animal.
