Three Former Dames And A New Leading Lady!

Panto’s back – oh yes it is! After the disappointment of cancelling last year’s performance, Thetford Players are back bringing you the best of Panto as ever. Alice in Wonderland – A ‘Curious’ Pantomime by Tom Whalley is set to be a Panto with a difference but with a host of well-loved Players faces. Producers Jo Lylie Cooper and Leonie Sweden are thrilled to be back, “We are so excited to be doing panto again, doing what we love. This is a show that was born in lockdown and has been on hold for what seems like an eternity. It’s a different kind of panto to what we’ve ever done before, and it’s an adult cast this time. This year we have fast paced musical numbers and the whole thing is totally crazy mad.”

Katie Wright and Craig Plumley, the duo behind the la ers summer roduction outh acific are directing their first hetford la ers anto with a cast of 19, “It’s going really well, we’ve got a super keen cast who are glad to be back,” Katie said, “Covid has formed this into being a different show, it’s effectively a panto with some big musical theatre numbers.” Craig continued. Laura illiams stars in her first leading role as Alice, with Tim Lovejoy returning not as the Dame, but as the “most rock and roll Caterpillar you’ll ever see”. Gary Largent will be making his debut as the Dame (aka The Duchess) and Dave riffiths takes on the role of the hite a it Luke Jefferies leaves his successful stint as the Dame behind him as he becomes a panto villain – The Knave of Hearts along with Amanda Kingsnorth as The Queen of Hearts. When asked how she felt about following in Helena Bonham Carter’s steps, Amanda said that the person in her head was ueenie from lackadder his is m first baddie and I’m looking forward to it!” she laughed. Another former Dame, Adam Bond has been cast as the Mad Hatter. He said that to be cast in such an iconic role is quite daunting, but also extremely exciting to be able to put his own spin on it. He plans to make the role his own as much as he can saying that whilst Johnny Depp might have done two accents, he’s planning more including Scottish, Welsh, American, Scouse and English. Thetford Players favourite Phil Pearson is taking on two roles this year – the door (look out for some superb knocker jokes!) and King of Hearts. marks ears since the first hetford la ers anto ow a firm fi ture in hetford s cultural calendar, for an evening of belly laughs and a night to remember grab your tickets quick!
