UNDER THE RADAR WITH MADDISON KREBS Maddison Krebs tells Countrified Canada how music can keep us all connected.

First song I ever sang was Can I Have This Dance by Anne Murray . It was a favourite of my great grandma's and I made sure to learn the song when I was five. I felt pretty proud of myself at the time and performed it at my grandparents' anniversary . It?s still one of my favourite songs of all time! My dream Canadian country artist duet partner would be Ian Tyson! I look up to him as not only an artist but a creator that has successfully touched people's hearts through music; by always being honest and authentic. He's had a long lasting career and has definitely made his mark on Canadian country music something that I think every artist strives for. A duet with him would be a dream come true. I chose music as a career because music has the ability to heal and

touch people's hearts in (sometimes) a matter of seconds. It has heals and helps me get through life everyday. The fact that I'm able to create and share it with others is something I will never take for granted. Music is something that can keep us all connected! A hidden talent of mine is that I'm an artist (painting) as well. I've loved painting and creating since I was a little girl. I have a very large collection of paintings that I've compiled over time! My dream venue is the Grand Ol Opry . Performing there is one of my biggest dreams . The fact that country classics like Elvis to Johnny Cash have played there gives me shivers. It's a house that holds respected artists and that's definitely where I want to be.

Tell us about your debut album ?Steal Your Heart?? Did you have a hand in writing the singles? How did you chose the singles? I wrote a little over half of this record and I've been writing for it

since I was in high school about 3 years ago. The album is a very cool look into my life over the past 3 years. It's hard choosing the singles, especially ones that you wrote, because it's like having to choose which child to send off into the

JASON BENOIT Tell Countrified Canada about your latest single ?Waves?did you write it? Why did you chose to record this single?

You are scheduled to play several Canadian music festivals this summer? What is your favourite thing about festivals?

I wrote Waves on the 1 year anniversary of my Dad's passing.. He died of Cancer in 2014. We spend a lot of time together at his Cabin at the beach, he always loved fishing, and being by the water.. his life revolved around the ocean.. so now every time I see and hear the waves I think of him.. He was a huge inspiration for me in my life so I jumped at the chance to release "Waves" as a tribute for him.. he was definitely the inspiration for the song..

Festival crowds are always the best to perform for.. they're out for a party and I always have the most fun with them.. It's always a rush playing for 10s of thousands of people!

DIRTY MOUNTAIN

Countrified Canada talks to Elli Hart from Dirty Mountain Can you tell Countrified Canada readers the story behind your interesting name, ?Dirty Mountain?? Were there any other contending names? I was hiking up a mountain outside where I grew up in Metchosin and I had never seen it so dry and dusty before. I decided on that hike that we would name the band Dirty Mountain to keep ourselves grounded and to remind ourselves that our planet is

changing and we need to be as conciseness about our actions as we can. You recently released your debut album what kind of pressure is there in creating a debut album? There are so many little details that go into making an album that go far beyond the songs and the recording process, like spelling everyone's name correctly (Yes - I misspelled Lane's last name - head smack!) But beyond

GORD BAMFORD Countrified Canada talks Switzerland and fun summer songs with Gord Bamford. 2016 has been quite the year for Canadian country music superstar Gord Bamford and we are not even at the half way point for 2016. Gord Bamford?s eighth album Tin Roof was released on Sony Canada on April 8th. Countrified Canada discussed the album, his recent trip to Switzerland, living in Nashville and why Canada will always be home. Gord is currently finishing up a major cross-country tour (co-headlining with Joe Nichols) that kicked off on April 7 in

Medicine Hat, in addition Bamford also recently learned that he had won the Country Music Association?s prestigious Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award. The award recognizes outstanding achievements by a country music artist originally signed outside of the United States. Bamford also won the Award in 2013, and this marks the first

time an artist has won it twice. The winners of the award have come exclusively from Canada and Australia, and the list includes some impressive Canadian artists such as Paul Brandt (2005) and Jason McCoy (2006). If winning the award twice wasn?t cool enough, the way he received the news sure was! No other than Country music royalty Reba McEntire gave Gord the news via a video message. Gord Bamford doesn?t take success for granted, this past

March he flew into Switzerland for two sold out shows in Zurich. He was surprised by how much the audience liked Country music and especially 90?s Country music. They were a very energetic crowd and could do a pretty mean line dance! Shortly after a whirlwind trip to Switzerland Gord was lacing up the skates to compete in the Juno Cup celebrity match in Calgary on April 1, as well as participating in the Juno Cup Jam the night before.
