37th Annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival Posters
Bio of Artist:
Donald Scott Masterson is based out of Cannon Beach, working in multiple genres and mediums. With projects ranging from Art Directing at Disney World and Universal Studios to walking the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival; from large-scale Renaissance ceiling murals to fine art pieces in galleries, he strives to bring out the best look for his clients and patrons. If asked what medium he enjoys working with most, he will tell you, “All of them.” Beginning his professional career as a graphic designer at a record label in Nashville, TN, Donald moved to Oregon to paint and expand his understanding of the art world. Painting for commercial and private clients led him to new opportunities in film/television. As a Scenic Artist and Sculptor for over ten years, he’s been able to incorporate some of those techniques into his paintings and artwork.

Bronze Coast Gallery
224 N Hemlock Suite 2 | Cannon Beach art@bronzecoastgallery.com
Bronze Coast Gallery has been in operation for over 30 years and represents more than 50 artists from the northwest and beyond. We offer a wide variety of sculptures, from classic limited-edition bronze to unique and innovative contemporary artwork, as well as unique paintings. We are delighted to participate in Cannon Beach’s annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival, where our gallery will be hosting four of our remarkably talented artists.
David Crawford
“As an artist, I’ve been inspired by people and things both in and outside the ‘fine arts’ disciplines, but I probably owe as much to my rural upbringing and surroundings as to any other influences for the images I produce. Growing up living and working among cattle ranchers, art was not really the kind of thing that one should take too seriously. So, initially, I tried to focus my creative energy on functional objects, such that I would be considered useful. But time would inevitably lead me to make things that had no purpose whatsoever.”
Sara Swink
“I think my style could be described as almost folk-arty, sort of folk art from the culture of me. There’s thought in it, but for me, it’s much more how it feels. And, if I can’t decide about how I want it to look, I picture how I’d want it to be if I kept it in my own bedroom. Adding color is when it all comes together. It’s when the vision really starts to happen, because so many of these pieces are so much about the color.”
Hans Schiebold
Hans was actively involved in the New York abstract art scene of the ‘70’s, where his paintings were displayed in over 10 major museums on the east coast and was featured in several international museum shows. He taught at Wichita University in Kansas, from 1978 – 1982. When he decided to move to the Portland area the inspiration of the Oregon landscape crept into his work taking his images from the abstract into a more representational realm.
J. Christopher White
If one word could be used to sum up the style of J. Christopher White’s sculptures it would be movement. While wood sculpture has traditionally been cast as static, stiff or massive, White’s use of S-curves, negative spaces, and fluid lines into shimmering ribbons of wood, has broken the mold stepping out of the cast and into the halls of fine art. Every line and plane has a function in the design and draws the eye around, through or ultimately to the focal point of the sculpture.

To celebrate the 2024 Stormy Weather Arts Festival, the Jeffrey Hull Gallery will introduce giclée prints of his award-winning watercolor ‘Be Still’, along with brand new original paintings. ‘Be Still’ was recently recognized with Best Of Show and the People’s Choice Award at the 30th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition. This exhibition is the American Society of Marine Artists regional competition for the entire western United States and is the oldest continuous maritime art competition on the West Coast. Jeff has earned several accolades at this exhibition over the years, including being the Featured Artist for the 25th annual event.
Jeff started painting in his teens, but focused on watercolors over 50 years ago and never looked back. His command of painting and love for the Pacific Northwest Coast places the viewer right into scenes of sandy beaches, wind-sculpted trees and dramatic cliffs draped in coastal mist. Since 1987, he and his wife Carol have offered his paintings of the beautiful coast in their spacious second-floor gallery at Sandpiper Square in the heart of downtown Cannon Beach. Over time, both the gallery and his paintings have grown; he’s added oils to his repertoire; and he also now proudly produces his own high-quality reproductions.
New Exhibition Opening at White Bird Gallery
White Bird Gallery kicks off Stormy Weather Arts Festival with a new exhibition celebrating mixed media artworks that are carefully crafted from an array of materials ranging from ceramic, metal, wood and glass to paper, stitching, collage and more!
Our weekend events include an artist demonstration by Valerie Savarie who uses altered books as the centerpiece of her creations. Watch Valerie transform vintage books through cutting, carving and stitching them into one-of-a-kind wall sculptures that tell her own unique stories.
Join us in the gallery on Saturday and Sunday for a weekend jewelry pop-up show with Debbie Shaner of BeMused Creations. We’ll be showcasing her old-soul enamel jewelry that is inspired by the colors and textures of nature. Mainly working in torch and kiln fired enamel, Debbie’s pieces have a vintage feeling. Her designs use botanical forms and richly saturated colors to create original pieces of wearable art jewelry. Come find that special piece at Debbie’s pop-up show!
