Aquatics

The Aquatics staff is a team of dedicated, trained professionals providing individual personal service to all our patrons. NCRD Aquatics offers a full range of classes and activities for people of all ages and abilities. The Aquatics Program encompasses and speaks to every aspect of the District’s Mission Statement: Fitness, Youth, Adults, Education, Therapy, Recreation, Sports, Life Saving, and general Well-being.

Our pool was built in 1930 as an addition to an existing school building. The pool and its programs have a long standing history! Through several generations it has enabled every child in our community to learn water safety and swimming skills. Students K – 5 receive weekly instruction as part of their school curriculum. No doubt lives have been saved because of this vital program! The pool is 75 feet long and 30 feet wide. It’s ideal for lap swimming and athletic training. It ranges in depth from 3 feet to 8 feet, with diving possible in the deep end. We also have a small wading pool offering a non-threatening introduction to the water environment for young children.

Making A Difference in the Lives of Every Student in Nehalem for 83 Years The cornerstone of the Aquatics program is our “Learn To Swim” component. We offer swim lessons for every age and ability from infants to seniors, from the physically challenged to the accomplished athlete. Students in Nehalem have received weekly instruction in the pool as part of their school curriculum since 1930. Over the past 15 years the program has evolved dramatically. Today’s school swim classes offer comprehensive swimming instruction and a vital Water Safety Awareness program to all students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, and also includes the District 56 Adaptive Swim program. These classes contribute to the students overall health and quality of life by building strength and confidence while teaching them skills that could potentially save a life.

Swim Club Take your swimming to a new level. Swim Team work-outs Flip turns, butterfly, breaststroke, racing starts and much more. Lots of fun! Monday and Thursday after school Coach Kiley Konruff For information call 503.368.7121.
