The last 12 months saw the News-Times undergo a succession of modifications, including changes to the paper’s publication dates and the Sept. 1 sale of the NewsTimes from News Media Corporation of Rochelle, Illinois, to Salem-based County Media, Inc. Now, the News-Times, established in 1882, is in the process of undertaking a rebranding. County Media, publishers of the News Guard in Lincoln City, beginning with the Wednesday, Jan. 17, edition, is combining the county’s two newspapers — the NewsTimes and News Guard — into a single publication, and in doing so will revive the Lincoln County Leader, a paper published from 1893 to 1987
