Wildflour celebrates 7 years! By BREE LAUGHLIN The World Inside the Wildflour restaurant and public house is a bustling space with elegant and rustic finishes. The food incorporates fresh, simple and delicious ingredients and caters to most any one. The owners describe their team as “amazing.” Tara and John Moore have come a long way since they opened Wildflour 7-years ago this October. But their journey has been anything but linear. Wildflour started by selling goods at

the farmer’s market and evolved into a catering and to-go company. The owners had just opened a full-fledged café when Covid hit. They were forced to close down. A year later, they opened back up for to-go items, and eventually developed into where they are today, operating as a restaurant and catering company. During all this time, they cared for their young child with serious health issues. “It was a lot of things,” said Tara Moore. Wildflour continues on page 3

Josie’s Art Lab connects community with art By BREE LAUGHLIN The World A local artist is helping others get in touch with their creative side. Josie Keating, owner of Josie’s Art Lab, offers drawing and art classes, guided painting, kids classes and camps, and more. The artist describes her original work as witty and a little edgy. She isn’t afraid to be bold, fun and irreverent – and her art reflects that. One of Josie’s Art Lab’s most popular activities is a paint and sip style class. She has a wall inside her art lab that displays all of the different paintings she has taught to community members. “It’s something fun to do – something different than going bowling or to a movie,” Keating said. “Whether the painting turns out great or whether you even care if it turns out great, it's good for your brain. It's good for your mental health because for three hours, people are thinking of nothing except for what's happening right in front of them on the canvas,”

she said. A lot of people who participate come in thinking that they can’t paint, or they aren’t creative. “They're always pleasantly surprised at the end. They’re like, ‘I can't believe it. I thought I was just having fun and I ended up making this,’” the artist said. For those who want to take it a step further, Keating offers classes that cover techniques such as color mixing principles and the process of acrylic painting. “What stops a lot of people from taking that next step into really trying to be an original artist is not knowing the process and second guessing themselves. So, it's good to Josie's Art Lab continues on page 3
