Cherry Tree Angling Club

Clubs & Groups

The club has a long history having been formed in 1946 at its first headquarters of the now closed Cherry Tree pub in Bungay - hence the name. Over the years the club as grown and now has a membership of around 300. Run by a committee of volunteers, full membership is just £65 per year. In addition to some quality stretches of the river Waveney including purpose-built swims at Dunburgh, the club also has three lovely still waters close to Bungay. Bungay Tennis Club A small and friendly club catering for a range of abilities and ages located at Maltings Pavilion. Coaching sessions are available for those who wish to start the game from scratch or develop and improve their existing tennis skills. Club session stake place on Monday and Thursday evenings and Saturday morning. With the benefit of newly laid artificial grass courts and floodlights, play is possible all year round and in most weather conditions! Contact bungaytennisclub@gmail.com for further details.

Bungay Flower Club Formed 40 years ago in 1982, this active and successful club is always keen to encourage new members. Alongside regular demonstrations and talks, the club organizes other events such as lunches, afternoon teas and visits to open gardens.

Bungay Bowls Club Believed to date to at least 1886, Bungay Bowls Club has been a part of the town for around 140 years. The club is based in Bardolph Road and runs nine teams in five leagues as well as entering all Suffolk (Bowls England) and EBF County Team Cup competition. Bungay Black Dog Running Club A friendly club encouraging all abilities to join them. In addition to running there are lots of social events on the calendar throughout the year so this really is a community. Bungay Army Cadets Meetings take place at Community Centre on Upper Olland Street every Monday between 7:30pm - 9:30pm. You can join the Army Cadet Force if you are in year 8 or above. This is a great way to make new friends and gain new life and leadership skills that will set you up for life.
