OBITUARIES IVOR BREARLEY
It is with great sadness that I have to let you all know that Ivor Brearley has passed away. He was a longstanding member, ex Chairman, ex Committee Member and Webmaster for the Essex Group and will be sadly missed by us all. Pot luck pays off I was interested to read the Summer One Pots recipes on p61, Food and Drink in the August 2021 of Motor Caravanner magazine and decided to try the French-style chicken with peas and bacon at a recent rally. Living dangerously, as I do, and having not yet tried the recipe, I invited a couple of motorhoming pals to share this dish with hubby and me. I slightly changed the method by ‘prepping’ the meal up to and including simmering for 15 minutes, leaving just the addition of peas and lettuce, plus finally the creme fraiche, when our pals arrived.
The dish went down a storm – in fact it was so good I should have either made double quantity or two pots! My thanks go to whoever created this particular dish – now firmly embedded in my motorhome meals repertoire! Barbara Noble, SWPG See p61 for this month's 'Slow Cooker Comforts' recipes. The West Country Group are sad to announce the death of one of our long-standing members, Thelma Smith. With her husband Fred, they ran many rallies often including tea and cakes or best of all Thelma’s scones with jam and cream. Our thoughts are with Fred and his family at this time.
