Celebrate in style The Lakeview Gazebo provides a truly picturesque setting for a dreamy outdoor wedding, available between April to September on days when the weather is fine. If the British weather decides not to play along, Mulberry House offers complete flexibility and can arrange for your celebrations to be moved inside under the vaulted ceiling of the Cedar Suite. Both spaces seat 130 guests. For your reception, the air-conditioned Mulberry Suite boasts a
stunning oak beamed ceiling and statement chandelier. Seating up to 120 for your wedding breakfast, it’s perfect for a contemporary whilst traditional wedding breakfast and evening reception. Located on the ground floor of the main house, there’s also a private bar and cloakroom. The décor has been kept neutral, with wooden floors and exposed oak beams ready to be dressed as you wish! Hidden behind the beautiful Georgian house lies our stunning and newly refurbished all season’s marquee, seating up to 130 guests for a sitdown meal or 200 informally for an evening reception. It also has its own built-in bar and private decking area with lower outside terrace for use on warmer days or simply for some fresh air. The ivory draped, starlit ceiling with crystal chandeliers creates a magical feel for night-time occasions. A beautiful 18th century, Grade II listed, four-star country house hotel with a contemporary twist on the Essex/Suffolk border. It was originally built in 1759 by Thomas Reynolds for the first owner Isaac Rebow and immortalised in canvas by renowned British artist John Constable, when he was commissioned by the then owner Major-General Francis Slater Rebow in 1816.
Time to celebrate The Drawing Room and Signatures Room in the main house are traditionally used for the wedding ceremony or intimate breakfast. With large bay windows offering spectacular views over the parkland, the historic rooms have an impressive fireplace and period features. The Main Barn known as the Grain Store incorporates a large, open fireplace and mezzanine gallery to make full use of the 35-foot-high ceilings. The new Terrace Bar (launched in June) is a rustic outside bar set at one end of the terrace from where reception drinks will be served and perhaps a ‘cocktail hour’ offered following the wedding breakfast.

llie proposed to Emily in New York City, at the Edge NYC (the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere). The pair first visited the Big Apple back in 2018, their first holiday together, and the first time Ollie told Emily he loved her. Romantically, the proposal was a surprise on Emily’s birthday, 28th December 2021. Getting stuck into wedding planning, the pair said their I do’s at Braxted Park on 15th July 2023. Here, Emily tells us more about their day...

sabella and Kane met during freshers week at the University of East Anglia in Norwich and somehow managed to fall in love whilst drinking VKs and listening to Queen on repeat! Following University, the pair moved back to Kane’s family home in Essex whilst looking to buy a house of their own. Kane proposed at Tonnage Bridge in the Norfolk Broads. Tonnage Bridge is a beautiful remote location with luxury camping lodges. Isabella describes, “It was so special to return to Norfolk, the place where we met and lived for three years together and start this exciting new chapter. The day after we got engaged, we returned to Norwich city centre and it felt like such a full circle moment.” On August 10th, 2023 Isabella and Kane tied the knot at Channels Estate. Here, Isabella tells us more...
SETTING THE SCENE Kane found the venue online and booked to go and view it. Isabella tells us, “We both fell in love straight away. The outside ceremony ‘church without a roof’ is what really sold it to us. Channels is so well set up, the ceremony options are stunning, the barn feels really light and grand, and the accommodation is incredible.” The venue looked so tasteful. On every table, beautiful centrepieces were loaded with white florals and green foliage on tall standing gold plinths. The flowers were a mix of real and silk. Isabella describes, “Abi from Prestige Petals made me the most incredible bridal bouquet with white roses and hydrangea with green foliage whilst Kane had a matching buttonhole. She also created three dried lavender, bunny tail and gypsophila bouquets for my bridesmaids.” The cake was an elegant two-tier design with a bow and a small figurine of their gorgeous pooch, Winnie.
DRESSED TO IMPRESS Isabella’s dress was so special, “I had a bespoke wedding dress designed and created by Lora Nova. I went to the Wedding Show in London with my mum shortly after I got engaged and tried on some dresses. I knew that I wanted an A-line, off the shoulder lace gown.

REAL WEDDINGS We found Lora’s stand and discussed creating a bespoke design. I felt really beautiful and classic. I’ll always remember getting into my dress with my husband’s little sister (who was my bridesmaid) holding my hand so beautiful.” Isabella accessorised with ‘something borrowed’ (which was a Tiffany’s pearl necklace from her bridesmaid), a ceramic floral hair comb, Lily and Roo pearl earrings from her parents, a stud in her second ear piercings which had three stones to represent the past present and future, as well as her engagement ring.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We were both in the most surreal but lovely bubble on the day. We spent a lot of the day with each other and let it sink in that we were actually husband and wife! There was also huge relief as absolutely nothing went wrong. Walking up the aisle to my future husband, whilst holding my dad’s hand with At Last by Etta James playing will always be such a core memory.”

hoshi and Lucy met through work colleagues in London on a night out. Lucy tells us, “Shoshi arrived with a spare ticket to see Roger Waters play in Hyde Park that coming weekend and offered it to our group, a few of us said we wanted to go, Shoshi picked me, and we went together the following Friday. It was an amazing evening!” Romance blossomed and the pair got engaged in Edinbugh – a complete surprise for Lucy. Now to plan not just one, but two celebrations, as Lucy explains, “As we were having two weddings one in the UK and one in Bangladesh, we wanted each one to be very traditional to each of our cultures. We both felt that a beautiful countryside venue perfectly represented the true beauty of English culture. So, when we found High House Weddings we knew it was the perfect setting for what we wanted our day to look and feel like.” Shoshi and Lucy Hossain said their vows in front of friends and family at High House Weddings on 29th April, 2023. Here, they share with us some of the details from their day... 43
High House Weddings gave us a good variation of aesthetics: the beautiful English flowers, the barn, the outside gazebo the heartshaped lake and the neighbouring vineyards.
I was extremely nervous which I hadn’t thought I would be... It was nerve wracking hoping that everything we’d planned for the day took off as we’d visualised it.
I knew I wanted a floaty boho style dress in keeping with the venue theme and my own personal style. I’m a country/beach girl at heart so this style of dress is what I feel most comfortable in.
The groomsmen wore a mix of suits and colours and Shoshi and the two fathers wore grey suits.
I just wanted my bridesmaids to wear what they felt most comfortable in. We went for smoky green and a smoky purple floaty silk dresses which went perfectly. 44
We had an incredible string quartet before, during and after the ceremony. They were brilliant and really added to the romantic and happy mood of the day.
REAL WEDDINGS
We asked for English country wildflowers. We wanted a bright and rustic feel to these, as if they had been picked from a nearby meadow
Our amazing celebrant Amanda created a beautiful, personalised ceremony for us and the joining of two families and friends coming together for a fantastic celebration!
We decided to use Party Squared as our supplier of all the final touches, including a cake hoop and candles to make sure the cake was framed and looked great in pictures too.
Caroline (our florist) did an incredible job bringing it all together and to add that extra wow factor we had an arch which was displayed behind us on the main table which was stunning.
The look we wanted was English country/boho and to mix the two aesthetics of English and Bangladeshi cultures. So, the orange glasses mixed with the gold cutlery complemented each other.
For our food option, we opted for an informal and intimate choice of BBQ which we adapted to a more wedding appropriate setting, mixing it with crudites and canapés to start 45
We opted for summer cocktails and no tails on entry.
Everything went to plan and looked amazing! And even though the weather had been so cold in the weeks leading up to it, on the day the sun came out and was the hottest day of the year so far, just perfect!
Both our families prepared beautiful speeches that were full of love and laughter, which bought a lot of happy and proud emotions up for both of us.
In the evening we had a pizza oven and the pizza was served in individual boxes in case anyone wished to take it home and snack on it later.
We added a few trees around the marquee just to make sure every white wall was covered and the whole room came together to bring the outside in.

hoot coordinators Marina Moore and Victoria Taylor took inspiration from the classic poem The Owl and the Pussycat’ for this whimsical woodland bridal shoot. Every detail from the picnic platter, the copper and wood signage, bamboo furniture, and the luxury Pampas archway was carefully thought out. Marina adds, “Our magical aisle was delicately lit, showing potential couples the possibilities in this new outdoor venue, Barnfields. The colour palette was rustic and natural with hints of gold, black and copper, mirrored in the groom’s suit and our bride’s alternative gold dress. The cake and stationery picked up hints of the theme with feather detail, which looked so pretty.” It’s safe to say, the show-stopping image of this shoot was the rowing boat filled with flowers by Charmaine.

Shoot organisers, hair stylist, Marina and make-up artist, Samantha wanted the look to be luxurious, yet whimsical, so focused on ivory and pink hues. The flowers were supplied and designed by C Taylors Floristry - a selection of shimmer peach pink roses, astilbe and floating stems of ammi majus to express a natural gathering of country garden flowers, still staying true to the warmth that many brides love for their wedding day. Samantha adds, “The hair and makeup for our model Emily, was to create and achieve the look of sheer elegance; a Hollywood waved ponytail with timeless make-up. Eyelash extensions can be a great idea with your bridal make-up look, especially when you want your eyes to stand out in your photos and your make-up to look complete. They can make your eyes appear more defined and are available from silk, faux mink and volume lashes. These are great for teary eyes on the wedding day and can be worn without applying mascara - so no black streaks! You should get your eyelash extensions done at least two to three weeks before your wedding day and have a patch test up to a week before to ensure you’re not allergic to the glue. Lash extensions give you a perfect look without the hassle of everyday mascara, which can be a big help on your honeymoon also. They can last up to four weeks if cared for correctly so care should be taken with any products around the eyes, especially oil containing

THINKING AHEAD I can’t get ready at my venue. How can I make the best of my living space at home and what will my hair and make-up team need? I also have three bridesmaids that need to get ready! Do you have any tips to avoid stress on the day? Getting ready at home for your wedding can actually be a really fun experience. After all, when you’re in your own space you’ll be at your most comfortable. Whilst most hair and make-up artists are super adaptable and will work with whatever space they’re given, the better area you give us to work in, the easier it’s going to be for us to give you the look of your dreams! Here are a few things to bear in mind, that will help your hair and make-up team do their job to the best of their abilities: •We have big kits that take up lots of room, so we need table space and lots of it! Dining tables tend to be the best option as they are spacious, and a comfortable height for us to work from. •Natural light is always going to be the easiest light for us to work in. A lot of lighting you have in your home reads very yellow, and it’s much harder to get true colour matches in that kind of light. If possible, have your make-up artist set up near a window. If you know the lighting isn’t the best in your home, let your hair and make-up team know as they may have a lighting setup they can bring with them. •Different types of chairs are going to be needed for hair and makeup. The ideal chair to have your hair done in is a standard height dining chair, without too high a back so we can get to the back of your head. For make-up, having a higher chair saves our poor old backs! Bar stool height chairs tend to work best, but don’t worry if you
don’t have one, as most make-up artists have foldable directors chairs they can bring with them. To keep the getting ready process as stress-free as possible, when getting ready at home I recommend keeping your space as tidy and clutter free as possible (this will help your photographer too). Have any bags you need to take to the venue packed in advance and try to steam your dresses the night before if you can. Make sure to communicate with your hair and make-up team what time you’re going to need to leave by, so plenty of time can be scheduled in to get everyone ready without feeling too rushed. BE OUR GUEST I’m trying to find a wow-factor table plan that will be a real focal point at our wedding. How would you suggest I achieve this? You can create a wow factor table plan by thinking outside the box and not choosing a standard printed board. Create a design by adding colours to match your wedding, add metallic leaf or try different layouts. Set your guestlist in alphabetical order rather than table order to speed up the process of getting your guests seated. You can try having the table plan in a freestanding box or hanging from a rail. You can also add florals or candles around the bottom to really make it pop. Add a personal touch by printing photos of your guests and say ‘find your face, find your place’ or you can write personalised notes to each guest in mini envelopes with their table number on. The last thing is location, place your table plan as the central focus as your guests enter the dining area. This will make an immediate focal point and conversation starter. So, it was only right for us to check it out for our couples. Located between Newbury and Hungerford, this 18th-century country house hotel & spa is the perfect spot to unwind pre- or post-wedding whether you want a cocktail aside the heated outdoor swimming pool; or are ready to don your hiking boots and clear your mind on the close-by North Wessex Downs. You’re so warmly welcomed as soon as you enter the lobby lounge. Waiting at the reception desk was a lovely couple sipping a glass of wine checking in – yes you get a glass of the good stuff on arrival - and who was at their feet but two four-legged friends. Living the life of Riley, these pampered pooches were also looking forward to their stay in one of the several dog-friendly rooms. They even get a doggie welcome pack on arrival! With a crisp rosé in hand, I check into the Sutton Suite. An interior designer’s dream, sunlight pours into the room which overlooks the surrounding countryside. It’s warm and inviting with whimsy wallpaper, mix-match plush textiles and the prime centrepiece, the stunning copper roll top bath, is just waiting to be enjoyed. With a private mini bar, as well as raiding rights to the pantry (yes, there’s a pantry where you can help yourselves to snacks and drinks!), you’re guaranteed to switch off, unwind and feel truly spoilt. When it comes to food and drink, 1772 Brasserie offers a fine choice of contemporary dishes for all tastes. I chose crispy chilli squid followed by Berkshire lamb rump, cooked to perfection. The Italian dream
Louise Prance enjoys her inaugural visit to Italy, discovering the delights of Sardinia with a stay at the impressive Forte Village
F
or many, when you think ‘honeymoon’ you think white sands, clear seas, sunshine and an abundance of rest and relaxation. But, if you’re anything like me, sometimes you need a little bit more – enter Forte Village, Sardinia. A self-confessed travel addict with eternal wanderlust, I’m ashamed to say that my recent visit to Sardinia was my virgin voyage to Italy. And what an error or judgement that was. Just a hop, skip and a very short two-hour flight from the UK it was clear from touch down that Sardinia lived up to the Italian dream stereotype and then some.

For me, the focus on health and fitness was an instant draw, there are, wait for it, a whopping 11 pools, a gym, tennis club – the resort offers exciting events such as lessons with tennis legends – football pitches, boxing arena and climbing wall – which induced a severe bout of FOMO from my climbing-obsessed partner back in the UK. If that’s not enough, there’s a plethora of fitness classes available in the ‘FIT-ZONE’ including the likes of HIIT and yoga.
RESPLENDENT IN ITS BEAUTY
The focus on fun doesn’t stop at the exercise offerings, with there being something for all the family. Heading off on a Familymoon? The kids club feels like a separate resort in itself with its own swimming pool, Mario’s Village and, my personal favourite, life-sized Barbie Dreamhouse. Fancy some family activities to enjoy together? The on-site Go Karting and Bowling tick that box nicely.
Those looking for the aforementioned honeymoon vision of sun, sea and sand would be hard pushed to beat this beautiful destination. Giving off Greek island vibes, Sardinia is resplendent in its beauty, with the softest white beaches, dream-like crystal clear oceans, and an impressive history – there are Roman ruins at archaeological site Nora and a network of underground grottos some 530 million years old at the Caves of Is Zuddas, to explore. And of course, there’s the food. With Italy known for its cuisine, Sardinia didn’t disappoint, and neither did the culinary offerings at Forte Village – a resort set in a whopping 50 acres in the South of Sardinia.
A FOCUS ON FUN
FITNESS FIRST While of course exploring the island is a must-do recommendation, when you stay at Forte Village, you really won’t feel like you’ve missed out if you decide to stay put. Village by name, village by nature, the resort emulates a quintessential small Italian town, with residents getting around either by foot or on the quaint bikes provided, where the 21 restaurants (with three boasting Michelin stars) being just the beginning of what’s

own space, being just a stone’s throw from the white sandy beach and breakfast restaurant.
LOOKING FOR MORE?
Back to newlywed life, Forte Village’s spa is its shining glory. Loved by the Italian National Football Team, the Thalassotherapy Circuit was perhaps one of the most memorable spa experiences I’ve ever had. Offering six Thalasso pools, the circuit is designed to follow a pre-designed route to generate optimum health benefits. My personal favourite? Pool number one was a magnesium-heavy sea oil pool heated to a balmy 38c. Wearing an inflatable neck pillow you’re encouraged to simply float in the water, which is effortless thanks to the high salinity. I challenge anyone to leave the pool after the recommended 20 minutes feeling anything other than heavenly. The further five pools offer similar blissful experiences, which were only surpassed by the spa treatment I received after. The treatment rooms are set amongst the trees in a private tropical garden, with floor-to-ceiling (one-way) windows providing an awe-inspiring setting. My full body mud treatment left me feeling rejuvenated and relaxed, ready to take on another day in paradise.
For me, a getaway is not complete without a water-based excursion, and Sardinia offers ocean activities galore. However, always up for trying something new, I jumped at the chance to be taken out on a Jeep safari up the Monte Santo di Pula. Led by a knowledgeable guide, we bumped our way to the top of the mountain to take in some wow-factor views. We were then met by local Shephard Roberto, who did a demonstration under the forest canopy of how his family continue to make pecorino the traditional way. Coupled with some delicious red wine and authentic Italian fare, it was a memorable experience. It’s safe to say that Italy didn’t disappoint, with the Sardinian town of Cagliari being a wonderful final destination to explore. And while it may have been my first venture to the country, it certainly won’t be my last. Intoxicated by the setting, people, food and culture, Sardinia, and Forte Village, is a destination that should rank highly on your honeymoon shortlist.
DOWN TIME The endless fitness, spa, food and activity choices aren’t the only things you’ll no doubt have the pleasure of deciding upon at Forte Village, with the accommodation options as wonderfully expansive as the rest of the resort offerings. There are a selection of hotels, suites and bungalows dotted around, each with their own restaurant and pool. The decision between beach front, private garden, terrace, or balcony is where the difficulty will end, with each choice being as decadent as the next. My private garden bungalow was the perfect place to relax in my
