Thank you

Ifeel really lucky to have been able to work on Your East Anglian Wedding for the last two issues, it’s been a pleasure. After the legend that was Sarah Reeve, who had been on the title for many a year and moved on to pastures new in October 2022, there was only one option for me: I wanted to look after the readers, advertisers and wedding industry friends until I knew you would be in safe hands. Step up, the lovely Melissa Cullen. She’s taking a leap from editing Your Surrey Wedding, and moving up north oh very slightly, to take the helm of Your East Anglian Wedding. There’s only one thing I needed to say to her, ‘You’re going to love it!’. For a nature lover like me you’re blessed with the coast and countryside, with a town or two thrown in for some metropolitan vibes. The love of nature and sustainability has shone through in all the real weddings and features I’ve worked on in this short time. The venues are certainly to die for, from grand historic mansions to rustic barns and boutique hotels, there’s something for everyone and I’m going to miss learning more about the region. This issue, check out where to wed in North Norfolk on page 19, and if it’s a venue with history you’re looking for take a look at page 29. We love to champion local businesses here at Your East Anglian Wedding, and on page 67 to 71 we meet a handful of professionals in the local area. For 2023, there’s a whole host of wedding trends to be inspired by which we cover over on page 63 and finally, for true inspiration, read our local couples’ stories in four real wedding features this issue from page 35 to 56.

All the best, take care

NORTH NORFOLK

CURDS HALL BARN

Where to tie the knot North of the county

07377 138 882 | www.curdshallbarn.co.uk

Dating from the 17th century, Curds Hall Barn is set within 12 acres of parkland and arable fields, including mature woodland, a pond, and a lawn which is surrounded by uninterrupted views of the Norfolk countryside.

Curds Hall Barn is made up of two conjoined rooms: The Main Barn is the venue’s showpiece. Light and airy, it has whitewashed walls showcasing unique chequered brick and flintwork, high vaulted ceilings with original beams and contemporary lighting. The Woodshed provides a contrasting space with its darker wood cladding and atmospheric lighting – the perfect blank canvas for a romantic and intimate wedding breakfast. Festoon lighting and a firepit outside the main entrance create a welcoming atmosphere into the evening and make a great space for food trucks to pull up.

Ceremonies for up to 120 loved ones can take place in the following: The Main Barn, as previously described is a bright room with huge, glazed doors and underfloor heating. The Woodshed, a contrasting setting to the Main Barn, has dark wood-clad walls, upright beams mark a natural aisle down the centre of the room and can be dressed with

swags of fabric or fairylights for a magical feel.

For al fresco nuptials, couples can tie the knot under the Old Oak Tree, positioned on the edge of the woodland, or outside on the lawn to the rear of the barn with stunning uninterrupted views of the Norfolk countryside. It has an adjoining open-fronted Cartshed with beautiful original brickwork and upright beams which can be decorated.

Post-vows, wedding breakfasts and receptions can take place for up to 120 loved ones in both The Woodshed and Main Barn. The Woodshed has long rustic dining tables and limewashed Chivari chairs and can host an evening reception for up to 200 guests with ample space for a band and dancefloor. Long rustic dining tables can fill the length of The Main Barn for banquet-style dining and can take tall floral arrangements due to the high vaulted ceilings. Alternatively, this space is used for an evening reception for up to 200 guests with a bar in the same room as the dancefloor and access to the loft area – the perfect space for a snug breakout area.

When tying the knot here, couples have access to a dedicated wedding coordinator and, although Curds Hall Barn is a dry hire venue, it can provide many of the services needed such as heating, lighting, tables and chairs, lavatories, a PA system and a staffed bar, leaving couples to focus on the elements that they want to enjoy putting together.

THE DIAL HOUSE

01603 879 900 | www.thedialhouse.org.uk

Nestled within the heart of Norfolk The Dial House is a grand Georgian, Grade II listed building set in the picturesque and historic Market Town of Reepham – just 30 minutes from the Norfolk Broads National Park as well as the North Norfolk Coastline.

To the front of this historic property, the terrace is quite the sun trap, with shade for those that want it, and is the perfect place to enjoy a drinks reception of local tipple!

The interior is an eclectic mix of Georgian elegance and playful, contemporary, mid-century modern influence. The venue boasts a retail wing ‘Vegas Vintage’ which means all you can see you can buy.

When couples choose this big-day venue, they can tie the knot in the quaint Drawing Room perfect for intimate weddings. Or, for a larger wedding, there’s a beautiful church just opposite. For the reception, couples have exclusive use of the venue, you get the entirety of the venue as your playground, all eight bedrooms and all the quirky spaces within ‒ from formal dining rooms, secret rooms behind bookcases and neon-lit cellars it’s yours for the day.

THE WOODYARD AT WORSTEAD ESTATE

01692 536 226 | www.worsteadestate.com

Arriving in Worstead Park, via a grand lime tree avenue, guests travel through 300 acres of historic parkland to The Woodyard. The centrepiece of the landscape is an 11-acre lake complete with lake island, boathouse and summerhouse – all of which are part of the hire.

The Woodyard includes a lovingly restored thatched sawmill, courtyard and west-facing terrace to enjoy the evening sun. The listed building is around 300-years-old; the walls supporting the thatched roof are a patchwork of traditional red brick and lime mortar and is in keeping with the other Georgian buildings within the park.

For each element of the wedding day there’s a dedicated space. Ceremonies can take place either in the Mulberry Room (120 guests), Thatched Barn (120) or on the lake island (60) – where you may choose to arrive for your ceremony via the venue’s very own vintage rowboat!

Inside The Woodyard, the interior design makes the most of the historic

building and reflects the industrial heritage of the space but with all the modern amenities you could require. The venue has the capacity for a wedding breakfast of up to 120 guests and evening receptions of up to 160 across any of the following areas. The Thatched Barn, with its vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, Georgian brick walls and soft lighting, is the venue’s most romantic space. Later on, when the sun is setting, enjoy afterdinner drinks on the West Terrace and your first dance in the barn.

Forming the southern wing of The Woodyard, and once home to the sawmill which now stands just outside, The Mulberry Room is a light and bright blank canvas for the wedding breakfast. Alternatively host your wedding ceremony in The Mulberry Room before retiring to the Thatched Barn for a candlelit supper.

Opposite the venue is Estate Cottage which constitutes the bridal accommodation and has its own private walled garden. While 31 additional guests can stay across the estate in the Estate Cottage, Holly House, New Lane Cottage and Gate House North.

HOLKHAM HALL

01328 713 108 | https://yourwedding.holkhamweddings.co.uk

Nestled amid a 3,000-acre rolling deer park, you’ll find Holkham Hall, an 18th-century mansion with the grandest of staterooms, each as captivating as the next. From the sumptuous Saloon with its gilded coffered ceiling and rich caffoy walls, and the suitably roman Statue Gallery, to the showstopping Marble Hall with its 50ft domed ceiling, towering columns and sweeping staircase. Its splendid colonnade was inspired by the Temple of Fortuna Virilis, while the breathtaking ceiling is reminiscent of the Pantheon, both in Rome. Overseeing your ceremony from the niches above are statues of ancient Greek and Roman Gods, brought home from Italy by the first Earl of Leicester.

Palladian in style, Holkham Hall boasts a grand exterior. Its iconic south façade, with a breathtaking portico overlooking the parterre

gardens and Grade II listed fountain, makes for a perfect backdrop. Couples can tie the knot in The Marble Hall with up to 170 loved ones, The Statue Gallery (100) or al fresco in the Temple with 25 loved ones, and a further 100 guests outside. Tucked away in a Bohemian Woodland among ancient trees the Temple lends itself perfectly to a more relaxed whimsical wedding.

Post-vows, The Lady Elizabeth Wing seats up to 200. Originally built as a Victorian bowling alley it’s steeped in history. Alternatively, dinner for 150+ can be held in one of three marquee locations: Holkham by the Lake, a magnificent setting, the Walled Garden adds an enchanting, botanical feel, next to The Temple romantic and whimsical.

Holkham has just a limited number of wedding dates available each year to ensure every couple receives undivided attention. The team are on hand throughout the whole planning process and on the big day itself to guarantee that you have an unforgettable day.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE rainbow

Kerry and Chip had a colourful wedding day at Chaucer Barn Images courtesy of Graham Baker Photography

Kerry Davis and Marina Withers (Chip) first met on Facebook!

“Chip was my first female relationship,” shares Kerry. “She spotted me on the Facebook Dating App shortly after it launched, she said ‘yes’ to my profile and it immediately asked me if I wanted to say ‘yes’ and pair with her – she has the most beautiful eyes! We talked online and were a couple from the first date!”

Kerry popped the question on Christmas Day. “Chip is Estonian

and English is her second language. I drew my proposal on paper – I’m a terrible artist – and it took her about 25 mins to guess each word, eventually I thrust the ring at her and said ‘Well? Will you?!’ oh-so romantic,” laughs Kerry.

The big date was set, 3rd September 2022 with Chaucer Barn, Norfolk, setting the scene and a rainbow/Pride colour scheme ran throughout the day. Here, Kerry tells us more about their day…

35 REAL WEDDINGS

We only went to see the one venue and knew instantly that that was where we wanted our day to be.

We had rubber ducks with our names and wedding date on that had to be fished out of a paddling pool if you wanted a favour.

I had a bouquet of rainbow roses from Christine’s of Hockley.

We spray-painted ornaments and had photo frames with love quotes and remembrance photos in.

We had a rainbow-coloured three-tiered cake with little models of our three passed pets on.

I

wore a traditional wedding dress bought from Big C Bridal Boutique in Norwich which was then ‘rainbowed’ by Gemma, one of my bridesmaids. I accessorised with a rainbow-coloured tiara and personalised shoes by Miss Molly’s.
36
The ceremony was down at the willow arch, while the reception was in and around the barn.

Our sidekicks wore red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple waistcoats with matching shoes, black shirt and trousers.

Our DJ Jason was brilliant too, he really made sure his side of things ran smoothly with communication before and after. Our first dance was amazing, and it was just an overwhelmingly happy occasion. I was so worried that Chip’s anxiety would be too much for her, but she had an amazing day too.

Generally, everyone just entertained themselves and everyone is still saying what a genuinely happy day it was.

We played Cornhole on ‘Pride’ boards supplied by Norfolk Boards, dipped for ducks and took photos with cartoon character signs that had recently been used in our performance of Shrek on Cromer Pier.
“I sang to my girl Never Enough from The Greatest Showman.”
The bridesmaids wore fairy dresses each in a rainbow hue from Louki’s Hippy Heaven with matching coloured shoes.
37 REAL WEDDINGS
Chip wore a suit with a waistcoat she had made herself with rainbow details.

Both of us suffer with anxiety so emotions were right on the surface on the wedding day. We had a bit of a stress while we were getting ready, Chip had lost her Spanx and we couldn’t find them anywhere – turned out I was wearing them!

Walking down the aisle, and totally focussing on looking in to my girl’s eyes, was very emotional but it was all about her.

During our private pictures we spent the whole time giggling about our photographer’s methods, he wanted to make us relax and very much succeeded, we had such a great time!

My dad’s speech entailed him telling everyone how I was ‘such a whingey baby, they nearly abandoned me in France but felt they couldn’t inflict me on the French’. I haven’t heard that story before but loved it, as did everyone else.

My parents were just amazing just making the day go so smoothly, if there were any stresses, they didn’t show. They were parents to both of us on the day and we truly felt their love and support even though they are not ones for normally showing their feelings.

Ann and Janet did an awesome job looking after our dogs. My bandits (bridesmaids) were amazing but special thanks to Sarah and Gemma for dealing with the whole run-up and stressed me!

Lucy and Teejay’s wedding had a very special guest

Images Olive Branch Photography

40

Lucy

and Teejay met while working together and hit it off straightaway becoming great friends. After 18 months the pair started dating, visiting restaurants, and exploring Norfolk on dog walks. “We went out to lots of different places and even ice skating!” recalls Lucy. “We both supported each other in each other’s interests. Horses are a big part of my life and Teejay fully supports me with achieving any goals and vice versa. We both have a great sense of humour and are always having a laugh, which I believe was the start of everything! I think because we built up a great friendship at the beginning when it evolved in to a relationship everything just fell into place.”

Fast forward to Saturday 12th December 2020 when Lucy was surprised with a festive proposal. “As I went into the living room, pinned to the fireplace were four stockings asking me the big question: Will You Marry Me?” shares Lucy. “When I turned around Teejay was on one knee. I was so shocked!”

The big date was set 4th September 2022, on what would have been the couple’s five-year anniversary, with Pentney Abbey setting the scene and a eucalyptus theme running throughout the day. Here, we find out more about their special day…

SETTING THE SCENE

The couple went to Pentney Abbey for a viewing and fell in love! Looking for a small ceremony venue that allowed Keltic, Lucy’s horse, and had a team to oversee the day was top of their priority list. “Pentney was the only venue I truly got butterflies when walking around,” recalls Lucy. “It’s modern take on an old gatehouse was beyond beautiful! It had outbuildings and a farmhouse to accommodate us and our staying guests – it also had a camping green if required. The barn for our reception after was amazing, and the staff incredible! Hannah, our wedding planner, made the day run so smoothly and calmed any nerves. At the end of the night, we had most of the staff at Pentney dancing to the Macarena with us!”

The venue was breathtaking so Lucy and Teejay didn’t feel the need to do much more to improve the setting. The flowers were simple, using them in the ceremony room and in the barn. The centrepieces were hurricane vases with beautiful flowers to go round them in white and light shades of green which looked so timeless and subtle. “My bridesmaids and I had lovely bouquets, and our florist made me the most amazing matching ring of flowers to go round my horse.”

The big-day bake was a tower of doughnuts with a matching topper of the happy pair! While other finer details included log slice place and table names, light-up initial lights and loads of old photos of the newlyweds and their families past and present. The catering was all provided by the venue, from the canapés at the beginning of the day to the main meal which was beef roast – they tied the knot on a Sunday – and the fish and chips in the evening certainly went down a treat. The couple vouch it was all delicious!

LOOKING THE PART

Lucy wore a dress that was not what she had imagined but simply beautiful. “I had the overcoat specially made to go over the dress with a slight touch of bling on the front,” recalls Lucy. “When purchasing the dress, I wanted a ballgown style that would flow over Keltic and complement both of us. I did get some horse slobber on my dress but, after our lovely photographer said she could edit those bits out, I didn’t care one bit as I was living my dream! I think that the dress picks you; I tried on many dresses at the start, I didn’t think I would have gone for something so plain, but I fell in love with the dress and its pockets!” Lucy accessorised with a blue necklace gifted to her by Teejay’s mum, something old was a gold bracelet from her nan, and her perfume was borrowed from her sister. Her something new were her earrings; “all very simple accessories that made the whole outfit complete!” adds Lucy.

Teejay wore a very smart, country style navy tweed suit teamed with brown Chelsea boots; the groomsmen wore matching suits to Teejay with different coloured ties and waistcoats with personalised cufflinks. Finally, the bridesmaids wore eucalyptus-green dresses, pearl jewellery and accessories matching the bride’s.

TIME TO CELEBRATE

Lucy and Teejay had ample entertainment on the day to entertain their friends and family, “Rodeo Bull is a must I believe!” shares Lucy. “It’s great for the kids and the young at heart – I even got on it in my wedding dress! There were a few split trousers but laughs and memories that will go on forever.”

The couple also offered guests sparklers to create a picture-perfect lit tunnel of light for Lucy and Teejay to walk under. Lucy adds, “It was magical! We had a roulette table as well which was great fun and kept our guests occupied for hours!”

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

On the day the pair were excited, nervous and overall trying to take it all in slowly, “We were remembering to breathe and to enjoy every single second of the day; I can truly say that’s exactly what we did!” shares Lucy. “Seeing all our families and friends having a good time was amazing!”

Standout moments include having her horse there and watching everyone enjoy the day! “Seeing my sisters in their bridesmaid dresses, and my mum, dad, as well as my brothers, dressed up and looking very dapper (and of course my very handsome groom) was special,” adds Lucy. “Teejay mispronounced his vows, and we both nearly fell down the aisle together, and the bridesmaids even over-walked the aisle and had to come back, but were standout moments for us.”

Full steam ahead

Kevin and Samantha had a glorious autumnal day at Mid Norfolk Railway Station

Images courtesy of Zera Knights of Avec Amour Photography

Kevin and Samantha first met through work and were attracted to each other’s shared sense of humour. Kevin popped the question in style at The Savoy, London in the foyer of the hotel which was festively decorated for Christmas.

The happy couple set the date, 10th September, 2022 with Mid Norfolk Railway Station setting the scene and an autumnal theme running throughout the day. Here, Samantha tells us more…

47 REAL WEDDINGS

We adored the venue as it was something completely different.

We had afternoon tea on the steam train and our table plan had a carriage design.

The flowers were autumnal in style and colour.

The cake was the centrepiece of the table in a cream-colour surrounded by cupcakes in assorted flavours.
48
The place settings were little blackboards with names on. Our wedding transport was a white Asquith Mascot Wedding Bus. Our bridesmaid wore a burgundy-coloured, full-length dress. I wore a Justin Alexander wedding dress.
49 REAL WEDDINGS
Kevin wore a station master’s uniform.

The wedding day was spent having steam train rides with afternoon tea, then footplate rides on the engine. In the evening we had music playing in the marquee.

Everyone who contributed to our day made it really special.

Childhood sweethearts

Madeleine and Michael’s autumnal day had a gorgeous burgundy, navy and blush colour scheme

Images courtesy of Katherine Ashdown Photography

REAL WEDDING 53

Maddie

and Michael met 10 years ago while still in school, “Although we were in the same year, we had never really spoken to each other until a History trip where we were in the same group. After spending the day together, we instantly connected, and the rest is... history!” recalls Maddie.

Michael proposed in May 2021 on a weekend break to Bath, “We visited Prior Park Landscape Garden where Michael knew there would be beautiful scenery, and a Palladian bridge which I had desperately wanted to see. Although the day had showers, it had stopped raining as we got to the bridge where Michael popped the question. I knew it might have been a possibility as I always joked it would be a beautiful place to get engaged!” she shares.

The big date was set, Thursday 27th October 2022, with Woodhall Manor and burgundy, navy and blush colour scheme setting the scene. Here we find out more about their day…

SETTING THE SCENE

Woodhall Manor was the first and only venue the couple visited and by the end of their viewing they’d fallen in love. “It felt perfect for our day,” Maddie says. “It was rural and secluded, and we loved that we could use the venue for the entire wedding and that there were separate rooms/buildings for each part of the day. The manor house itself had around 13 guest rooms and, the part that sold it for me, was the party room which was also beautifully decorated.”

For favours, Maddie and Michael gave guests hot chocolate jars, perfect for an autumn wedding and something they both love. The table plan was placed on an old mirror with wax seal stamps, which also featured on the place settings, while the table centrepieces were domed flower arrangements on short candlestick. “Our flower arrangements complemented our colour scheme and included roses, eryngium, amaranthus, astilbe, dahlia, lisianthus, berried eucalyptus, protea, waxflower and mixed foliage,” shares Maddie. The big-day bake was a threetiered semi-naked cake design adorned with matching flowers.

The couple also decorated the space with black and white photos of themselves at various locations they’d visited together (also the table name inspiration).

54

LOOKING THE PART

On the day, the bride wore a dress called Elora by Madi Lane, “This was the first dress I tried on in the only shop I visited,” shares Maddie. “I always wanted either an off-shoulder or sleeved dress, and Elora was just perfect. The detailing was insane, I did try a sleeved dress on but it wasn’t quite for me. I accessorised the dress with a sparkly belt which a seamstress attached to the dress. Heels were not a big thing for me as I’m a trainer girl at heart, so I bought some simple white shoes and had platform white Vans for the evening.”

Maddie’s something borrowed was her sister’s veil, and her something old and blue was her nan’s sapphire ring which was extremely special after losing her unexpectedly at the beginning of 2022. “I wanted to wear pearls, so found a lovely pair of pearl earrings and a simple pearl necklace, and my mum then gifted me a pearl bracelet on the day.”

Michael looked dapper in a three-piece, navy tweed suit which had burgundy details so he teamed his look with a burgundy tie and pocket square. The best man and one of the groomsmen wore the same as Michael, while the rest wore suits they already had. Complementing the groom’s party, the bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses in different styles ensuring they were comfortable.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

The morning of the wedding, Michael felt excited and not as nervous as he’d anticipated to feel. However, while waiting for Maddie to come down the aisle so many emotions came over him. Michael adds, “Standout moments for me were the feeling of togetherness getting ready with the boys in the morning; the sense of joy and relief when seeing Maddie come down the aisle; and during the evening reception you could really feel the love in the room which created the best atmosphere for a great end to the wedding.”

Maddie says, “I only had two/three-hours sleep the night before as all the excitement had kicked in. The girls and I arrived at the venue before Michael, but from the room we were getting ready in we could see Michael and the boys arrive, once I saw the smile on Michael’s face I felt so much more relaxed knowing he was already enjoying the day. Right before the ceremony I was nervous but so excited, the moment I saw Michael crying set me off, but from then on it was smiles and laughter all day.”

Maddie had arranged with the wedding planner, Beth, to walk down the aisle on a key part of the song and Beth aced it, which Maddie credits to making the moment feel so special! “The originality of the best man’s speech was amazing, we didn’t stop laughing throughout,” shares Maddie. “All of our wedding party were amazing throughout our wedding journey, organising fun and thoughtful hen/stag dos but also being a helping hand for all the prep! All of our suppliers were just brilliant, we couldn’t fault them. They made the whole process so easy and were on hand with any questions or ideas we had.”

The historic city of Cambridge provides the perfect backdrop for this wintry shoot, followed with some serious Christmas and New Year sparkle-vibes at Mill Farm

The inspiration for Carrieanne Cook, of Happy Moments Co., was the beautiful city of Cambridge. “As the photographer and shoot coordinator, I wanted to create some outstanding images to support local suppliers within Cambridgeshire and inspire couples to show them what is possible working with the talent on this shoot,” shares Carrieanne. “The afternoon shoot at Mill Farm come together later on with inspiration from the Mill Farm team as their land provides you with the space to be creative. As the photographer, I wanted to not shy away from cold nights drawing in earlier in the winter, and instead create some images with flash photography to show the more romantic Christmassy and fun NYE-vibes you can use to create a unique wedding reception and intimate celebration during the winter months.” Enjoy!

STEAL THAT STYLE

2023 venue styling trends to be inspired by

Atrend, as the definition suggests, is ‘a general development or change in a situation or in the way that people are behaving' – but who really wants to follow a crowd anyway? Movements in the wedding industry, from popular colour palettes to the must-have catering choices, are there to inspire couples rather than dictate what should be done. The wedding day should be completely bespoke and unique to the couple and that’s not going to fit any trend! It’s hard to even pinpoint trends nowadays as couples are truly owning their nuptials, theme, style and choices ‒ anything goes!

If you’re planning your wedding and feel a little overwhelmed with Pinterest and Instagram, then here’s a guide to what’s hot in 2023 to put your personal spin on….

COLOUR AND TEXTURE

Although neutral colour palettes will always be a main stay when it comes to wedding décor and styling, it’s classic and elegant, there are plenty of opportunities to bring in colour and texture for those that want the wow factor. Think: floral designs, textiles, furniture, motifs, and patterns ‒ the brighter and bolder the better!

If you didn’t already know, Pantone’s Colour of the Year is Viva Magenta; it’s vibrant, it’s fun and looks incredible mixed with other colours, complementing weddings at any time of year. This shade works

radiantly as an accessory or as part of a colour palette (check out the options below).

When it comes to texture elements couples are now mixing and matching different styles of décor to create a unique look that reflects their personality. So, if you’re a boho bride who loves vintage glamour explore how you can combine these looks to create your overall aesthetic. Think: macrame and pampas grass combined with coloured glass and goldplated cutlery.

VENUE STYLING 63

LIGHTING

Possibly an overlooked element of styling your wedding day, but lighting isn’t just functional it can also be chosen to create features throughout the day, highlighting (excuse the pun) ceremony and reception spaces.

On-trend industrial-chic bulbs complement any wedding theme and can be interspersed with flowers to hang over the top table or, among floral archways and surrounding photo backdrops. You can even use lighting to detract from areas you may not like too and help give them a

much-needed makeover.

Neon signs, which were trending in 2022, looks set to be bigger and better in 2023! They can be used to add a personal touch to proceedings: cute messages, or the couple’s names/initials are go-to choices.

Finally, lighting can be cleverly used to emphasise themes and the times of the day of the day, easing the transition from daytime settings to evening festivities. As the sun sets think: candlelight, neon signs, glitterballs, festoon lighting, fairylights – the choices are endless.

MICRO WEDDINGS

Micro weddings are here to stay! Yes 2020/2021 were anni horribiles, but a positive thing was a love of small, intimate weddings. Couples embraced the smaller guestlists, the pressure was off for those that feared a big wedding, and it meant weddings were about couples and their loved ones. The movement also paved the way for new trends associated

with these intimate nuptials where people kept the budget but overindulged in things like the catering, gift giving and accessorising. These micro dos saw a boost in design elements such as: sweetheart tables for the couple, table scaping meaning there was a feast for the eyes not just the bellies, huge ceremony backdrops and extravagantly decorated aisles – it was all about the vows!

64

MAXIMALIST

In contrast to the love of intimate weddings, there are those that are embracing the restriction-free road ahead and are going bigger and better with their nuptials. From fashion being more daring to themes being over the top such as futuristic-circus (yes that exist!).

The ‘wedding weekend’ is set to be on most guests’ invitations, where

you attend the day before the wedding for a pre-wed get-together over dinner with activities, followed by the day itself and the ‘I dos’, and then all gathering on the day after for brunch to reminisce about the weekend. For all-out styling, incorporate breakout areas, create statement aisles, make your guests look up with stunning ceiling décor.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability continues to be at the forefront of our minds, particularly those planning a wedding after staggering facts have emerged of how wasteful weddings can be. Reports suggest that 4,910 tonnes of unrecyclable plastic was used up and left behind at British weddings last year. That’s the equivalent to 47 blue whales. Individually, one wedding can produce as much as 20kg of plastic waste. What’s more, the black bags used to collect the rubbish are themselves potentially harmful. They can take as many as 90 years to break down under the ground. First and foremost, choose suppliers that offer sustainable packages and state their low-emissions policies. Within your décor and styling, reduce the use of plastics, stick to natural materials and fabrics, and ensure items are reusable after the big day. Key words: reclaimed, recycle, upcycle!

DESIGN

Architectural elements are being incorporated into modern nuptials. From embracing materials such as concrete, to opting for geometric shapes – a trend circa 2019 but to keep it current go big!

To hit the right note with this 2023 theme, it comes down to the lines, shapes and silhouettes created. You can utilise ceilings for hanging installations be it floral or structural, the same goes for ceremony and cake backdrops and surrounds.

Within this one design trend you can also accomplish previously mentioned trends: colour, texture and maximalist. Ceilings and bar areas are your features you can make standout; using draping and streamers you can also change the shape of a room to fit your desired aesthetic.

Usinglocal businesses when planning your wedding not only benefits you but also the planet. From stationery to jewellery, here’s a handful of companies from across the region you need to know about…

CLARE WARREN CALLIGRAPHY

Clare warren says… I create bespoke stationery and signage for your wedding day in unique, handwritten calligraphy. After a rewarding career managing the visual team of a well-known department store, I found real joy in learning and perfecting the art of calligraphy. I started Clare Warren Calligraphy in 2019, and it’s grown into a full-time business. I’m at my happiest with a pen in my hand and a vision in my head, and I’ve been so lucky to help so many couples with such an intimate part of their most memorable day.

What’s your most popular product for weddings? Beauty is in the details, and my most popular product is by far the smallest: place cards. These tiny finishing touches don’t just tell your guests where to sit, they show them how important they are with their own name lovingly written by hand on premium quality card. Most of them make their way home with the guests as an extra keepsake, and when they’re matched with a stunning table plan, they can really bring your décor together.

Why is it important to choose local suppliers? Small businesses are the heart of a community, and what is a wedding without heart? I talk to every one of my couples to make sure that I understand exactly what they’re looking for, and offer experience and guidance to help them achieve their dream look. Stationery and styling can be confusing and going local is the best way to get what you want instead of just something from a shelf.

I’ve supplied stationery for weddings in Beverly Hills, Australia and even further afield, but I’m most proud of the work I’ve done here in Norfolk. Having worked closely with many of the local wedding

AMELIA BRENNAN

Amelia says… Amelia Brennan offers beautifully crafted, traditional pageboy and flower girl outfits. The designs are timeless and can be passed down through the generations.

What’s your most popular product for weddings? Our most popular outfits are our linen pageboy outfits and dot cotton dresses with matching linen sashes (pictured far right, also available in blue). They offer couples a classical look at a fraction of the price of other designers.

venues, and collaborated with a lot of other suppliers, I know how much care, passion and skill has gone into every aspect of those events. We communicate, we problem-solve, and we’re often on hand to help out with any last-minute fixes for unpredictable changes.

What do you love most about weddings? Every wedding is different, and everybody has their own idea of what makes it beautiful. One of the best things about what I do is that every order is unique, and as long as the couple are happy then I’m ecstatic. It’s even better if my work makes them cry a little bit… just a little bit.

Why is it important to choose local suppliers? We are solely based online but choosing local suppliers helps small businesses in our local area.

What do you love most about weddings? Being from Norfolk, I love a country wedding, allowing the flowers and natural beauty of our incredible countryside to create the most wonderful backdrop.

LOCAL BUSINESS 67

CATHERINE DOWNES

Catherine says… Based in West Norfolk, I’ve been designing and making bespoke giftware in silver, copper or pewter for 22 years. I do a lot of work to commission and make quite a wide range of products from pieces for the home to jewellery.

What’s your most popular product for weddings? My most popular product for a wedding gift would probably be the flower holders which, like all of the pieces that I make, can be commissioned in either silver, copper or pewter or a combination of metals. I always think a freshly cut single flower has so much meaning, so it’s always lovely to have something nice to display it in. Bowls and spoons also make a nice gift. I’ve also made pieces that can have elements added at a later date to mark anniversaries or maybe the arrival of a new family member!

Why is it important to choose local suppliers? In a faceless world of mass production, it’s so nice to have the connection of working with a maker to have a handcrafted piece that can be cherished for years to come, and even passed on to future generations. There’s also an inevitable environmental benefit which is always a good thing.

ELIZABETH FITZGERALD CARTER

Elizabeth says… A professional marine and river landscape artist, I offer original oil or acrylic paintings as wedding gifts either specially commissioned or selected direct from the studio. Liquid light flows and dances through paintings of the East Anglian coastline and waterways; these are works of art to visually sink into and treasure for a lifetime. My work has appeared previously in Homes & Gardens Online, World of Interiors as well as local publications like KL Magazine and North Norfolk Living magazine.

What’s your most popular product for weddings? I am most often commissioned to paint coastal images or favourite walks.

Why is it important to choose local suppliers? As well as supporting the local economy, a locally made product is often a reflection of the area the happy couple have a real connection to. Equally they or their guest can be assured of an interested and in person tailored service.

My customers want a painting that engages their senses in memory or a feeling of wellbeing generated by a particular landscape or combination of colour and composition. In the case of a commissioned work, this is enhanced a hundred-fold as the painting is special and unique to them, and is a timeless addition to their home. It is not unusual for close family members or friends to get together to chose a painting based on somewhere which has special significance to the happy couple.

What do you love most about weddings what you do? An instance of the last bit above happened to me a few years ago, when I was asked to paint a river view as a gift from the best man to the groom. It was a place where local children had played, teenagers had messed about and where the groom proposed to his bride. A few weeks after the wedding I had a phone call from the bride and groom so moved they were in floods of tears it meant that much. They are in the military and the painting travels with them wherever they are posted.

Elizabeth Fitzgerald Carter,

What do you love most about what you do? I love all aspects of my working life. My inspiration comes from the vibrant energy and movement that comes from my love of music. I also find inspiration in the natural world and I love texture in pieces, it seems to bring them to life. As each piece is individually handmade, I’m fortunate that I can cater for most styles from the very minimalist to the more detailed. I love the variety of my work and can’t imagine doing anything else.

OLIVE & IVY WEDDING STATIONERY

Emily says… Olive & Ivy began as a favour to my best friend, designing and creating their invitations and wedding stationery. It gave me such joy to be a part of such a happy occasion I knew I wanted to be able to do the same for other people.

We offer bespoke, quality wedding stationery from save the dates to on-the-day items.

What’s your most popular product for weddings? Our most popular product of late has been our concertina invitation, rather than three different pieces of card it’s an all-in-one design which has been a real hit.

Why is it important to choose local suppliers? By choosing local suppliers you receive that personal service you wouldn’t necessarily receive with the auto-generated stationery giants.

What do you love most about what you do? Having done a lot of watercolour designs (which I love creating) it’s refreshing when someone chooses the more modern design that focuses on typeface and colour. I’m working on one at the moment which uses natural earthy colours and elegant fonts, giving a stunning finished look.

ANNE REEDER MILLINER

Anne says… I offer bespoke and ready to wear hats, fascinators, tiaras and other headpieces for brides, bridesmaids, mothers-of-the-bride and -groom and wedding guests. Working from my studio in Ipswich, customers can try on headwear in different styles to see what will suit their face and body shape, personality, outfit, the season and the occasion before I design and make something just for them.

After a long career in the NHS, I retrained as a milliner at Kensington and Chelsea College, Janie Ashford School of Millinery and attended many millinery master classes.

I also offer hen parties where everyone can make their own fascinator or hat for the wedding while enjoying afternoon tea and a glass or two of bubbles.

What is the most popular product you offer for weddings? My most popular products are bespoke hats and headpieces for mothers-of-thebride and -groom. Some ladies like a big hat for their special occassion, while others, who don’t really like wearing hats, prefer something small and unassuming.

Why is it important that couples choose local suppliers? When it comes to headwear, choosing a local supplier means you can get advice from your milliner about what will suit you best and make sure that no one else at the wedding has anything the same. You can have fittings to make sure your hat is perfect for you and try it on with your outfit.

BAKE A SHOE

Rachel & Angelo say… Bake a Shoe is a start-up fashion brand creating realistic cake-themed heels, handbags and accessories. Items are ‘hand-iced’ to order with faux frosting and fruit for a sweet statement that is sure to impress. Using a mixture of felt, vegan leather, foam and polymer paste, a tasty-looking statement piece is meticulously handmade in three to four weeks.

What’s your most popular product for weddings? Bake a Shoe’s newest range of handmade wedge cake handbags are each ‘hand-iced’ to order with faux frosting, fruit and sprinkles ‒ perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth and eye for glamour. Each bag is around 26cm wide, 15cm tall and 13cm deep at its widest point ‒enough to fit a large iPhone, keys and make-up! SANYUKTA

SHRESTHA

Sanyukta (seen here on the red carpet with her daughter, Ameya at the recent world premiere of Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio) is one of the UK’s leading sustainable wedding dress designers with a conscience being among the first to introduce sustainability to the bridal industry with the launch of her bridal collection in 2011. In 2022 came her Ready to Wed 2022 collection of ethical, vegan wedding dresses. Each one was handmade by highly skilled artisans in Nepal from hand-spun and hand-loomed 100% Fairtrade bamboo; 100% organic cotton; TENCEL (which is a luxe floaty vegan eco-fibre made from the cellulose of wood pulp which is 100% biodegradable and compostable) and also recycled fibres. Her Iconic Bridal collection (pictured) which captures the mood of the 1930s is also made from these organic materials, and her Zero Waste philosophy strongly influenced it. One of the Nepalese-born designer’s bridal creations is preserved in the Fashion Museum, Bath. A London College of Fashion graduate, Sanyukta’s evening wear has been worn by celebrities including Victoria’s Secret supermodel Candice Swanepoel; classically trained soprano Natalie Coyle and English actress and singer Amy Nuttall to name a few. www.sanyuktashrestha.com

GRACE LOVES LACE

Grace Loves Lace has launched its Memoirs Of Her collection for 2023 of eight stunning made-to-order and ready-to-wear gowns priced between £1,200 and £2,500 plus two intricately embroidered veils. It features silhouettes made with a new 100% recycled eco lace, exclusive to the Australian based-brand which is committed to ethical and sustainable manufacturing with all gowns made in Australia. Founder and creative director Megan Ziems tells us, “There’s plenty of skill that goes into making a dress look effortless, each gown in this collection is an ode to craft and creativity - we have challenged ourselves and our in-house artisans to create pieces that will move you. This level of detail, softened by flowing fabrics, texture and effortless silhouettes strikes a unique balance. These gowns are true works of art.”

Always pushing boundaries, the brand has launched the first-ever wedding dress using lycra swimsuit material to hug and shape the body. Megan adds, “We wanted to introduce a completely unpredictable fabric in this collection that makes a statement. The Zsa Zsa dress is hand-crafted from beautiful and highly visual stretch lycra. Think of a dress that makes you feel supported all over, creates the most beautiful curves and accents the body. For the fun and adventurous bride, you can even swim in it at the end of the night.”

The Memoirs Of Her collection will also be the brand’s first dive into the Metaverse, with 10 brides-to-be to receive an exclusive NFT gift with their gown purchase. Megan said it was the perfect opportunity to introduce something new to the bridal market. “We have always been early adopters in the industry, so introducing NFTs as a gift with purchase is our way of starting to immerse ourselves in the Metaverse, where we can already see highly respected fashion brands investing in.” She adds, “We wanted to explore this idea of taking something old and breathing new life into it, which is how the NFT idea came about. I knew this was the collection to pair traditional heritage art forms, like poetry and calligraphy, with modern keepsakes like NFTs.” https://graceloveslace.co.uk

VERA WANG BRIDE

Vera Wang Bride, the high fashion, luxury brand that forms part of Pronovias Group which is on track to reach its goal of a 40% sustainability component in all its dresses by 2025, launches its new collection for 2023. From charming, reworked classical silhouettes to edgier fashion-forward statements, these 54 dresses and accessories all have the hallmarks of Vera Wang’s fashion language.

Hi-lo and bustled skirts, clean bandeau tops and deconstructed ball gowns mixed with debutante design details such as belted ties with lace peplums are some of the highlights along with corseted bustiers with see-through panels and cross-your-heart drapes are modest, but also put a deliberate focus on the décolleté.

Style directions in the new collection see experimental silhouettes including modern bridal shapes such as skirt and crop-top two pieces, pantsuits, and sensual dresses. Lustrous fabrics include new Duchesse, mikado, and taffeta fabrics that are softer and silkier than ever and embedded in crystals and pearls. Playful design details such as lace peplums, cross-your-heart bodices, and mini bows create a certain sense of modesty while also highlighting the décolleté with artisan-made accessories playing a prominent role. From detachable peasant sleeves and opera gloves to Elizabethan-style ruffled collars and bibs, these new add-ons allow brides to transform even the most minimal styles. “What I tried to do this time is create accessories that can personalize your wedding dress when and how you want,” clarifies Wang. She adds, “Women right now are reconsidering what bridal means,” referring to the current mood for unorthodox looks and ‘secondary’ bridal dresses for the wedding celebration. “I think we’ve done everything possible to create a wide range of looks with this collection, which I hope will appeal to so many different brides everywhere.”

In line with the Pronovias Group’s inclusivity policy that applies to all the brands in its portfolio, all the Vera Wang Bride 2023 dresses are available in a range of sizes from 32 to 64 (from 0 to 32). www.verawangbride.com

BO & LUCA

Bo & Luca couture gowns are made, hand-beaded and hand-dyed in their Indian-based atelier. Using an ancient Indian technique known as Tambour, each bead is carefully hand-sewn onto the finest silk by local master craftsmen and women over a three to six-month process. The entire journey celebrates the feminine and carefree romanticism which only the delicate hand-beading, embroidery, and hand-dyeing can emulate. Incorporating this age-old technique into each design produces a finer, more intricate, and higher quality result than machine beading, which is a more favoured method in modern garment manufacturing.

Bo & Luca encourages handmade creations and intertwines this value into each gown created under their diffusion brand, Temple. Whilst many Temple gowns are created in their Indian ateliers, the recent partnership with their European atelier has allowed them to diversify their offering into commercially viable gowns which appeal to their bohemian-loving brides with a reduced budget. Temple allows inclusivity and ensures that more brides can make the dream of being a Bo & Luca bride a reality. www.boandluca.com

ANDREA HAWKES

British bridal designer Andrea Hawkes has introduced her Amaryllis 2023 collection named after the flower which stands the tallest of all winter blooms and symbolises pride, strength and determination which has been Andrea’s creative inspiration. She tells us, “I designed Amaryllis as a celebratory collection, each look has a unique element that will allow our brides to truly express who they are. We have seen so much strength and determination in our brides over the last couple of years; it only seemed right to design a collection that will make them feel proud when walking down the aisle. It’s all about confidence and enabling each bride to sparkle and shine bright whilst enjoying their special day surrounded by their loved ones. Amaryllis is a celebration of individuality.”

Cut from the highest quality natural silks, Andrea’s collections are made in London by her in-house team. Featuring 12 dresses and two tops in light to heavy-weight silks, Amaryllis showcases Andrea’s signature clean cut and minimalist aesthetic with a focus on fit and shape to create both natural and sweeping silhouettes for the modern bride. Contoured corsetry and structured box pleat skirts with hidden pockets feature alongside fluid and split-front dresses. Necklines and back details are square, V-shaped or low, designed to be worn bare or layered with sheer chiffon and georgette silks. Sleeves are either statement blouson, off-the-shoulder, classic long or wide or slim spaghetti straps to perfectly offset the skirt shapes.

Sustainability has always been at the heart of Andrea’s brand ethos working exclusively in natural silks including dress linings. All lace is sourced and produced from French mills with ethical working practices. The London studio enables Andrea to work closely with brides across made-to-measure and bespoke designs and a recently launched post-wedding alteration service offers brides the opportunity to re-purpose their dress by the in-house team creating luxury wardrobe staples that can be re-worn for years to come.

TRIED AND TESTED

Over time, our natural hyaluronic acid levels decline, making the appearance of those dreaded lines and wrinkles more pronounced. But RoC’s new Hydrate + Plump Daily Moisturizer comes to the rescue with SPF 30 helping to restore skin’s natural moisture, visibly replumping lines and replenishing hydration. CWM editor Rachel Westall put it to the test.

“As a woman in my 30s, my skin is an area I need to pay attention to, and with RoC endorsed by one of my all-time fave gals, Sarah Jessica Parker, I was already sold! These winter months can be so harsh on your skin so this has been a welcome addition to my morning routine, keeping my face hydrated with a natural glow. It’s superlightweight so it’s easy to apply and leaves no residue behind, only soft smooth skin all day. I can’t wait to try the entire range.”

HEMP, HEMP HOORAY!

Only around three per cent of polypropylene plastic, the material synthetic eyelashes are made from, can be recycled and takes 20 to 30 years to decompose. Using plant-based innovation, Velour’s 100 per cent vegan and cruelty-free plant fibre lash collection, thought to be the first of its kind, is derived entirely from hemp.

Blending beautifully with natural lashes, Velour Plant Fibre Lashes have been handmade for a fine, fluttery and wispy hair-like texture with a natural matte finish, ideal for enhancing bridal make-up looks. They sit on a lightweight thin black full-length cotton band for all-day comfort. The brand’s founder and perfumer Romano Ricci says of the new scent, “It would take me more than a lifetime to explore the complexity of women! Sometimes femme fatale, sometimes romantic, sometimes boyish, Ego Straits embraces all those contradictions while blurring the lines.”

SUN-KISSED GLOW

I’m looking for a natural spray tan that won’t make me orange or rub off on to my wedding dress. How do I avoid this?

An experienced spray tan artist will use a professional spray tanning solution and have the knowledge to tailor the tan to your natural skin tone and avoid the orange looking tan that nobody wants.

I recommend booking a trial tan at least two weeks before your wedding so you have time to decide whether the colour is just perfect or you would like to go darker or lighter.

You should book your actual bridal spray tan for two days before your wedding. This will allow enough time for the guide bronzer from the solution to be fully washed off by showering on the day before and day of your wedding, so there is no bronzer remaining to rub off onto your dress.

Pay special attention under your arms when showering by guiding any bronzer off with your hands. Having your spray tan two days before also allows time for the colour to settle for the perfect natural glow!

Q&A Fashion and Beauty

Find the answers to your wedding worries

ON-TREND STYLES

What will be the bridesmaid dress trends of 2023 which I can be inspired by for my own big day?

Colour

The greens from 2022 are still proving really popular rolling into 2023 weddings, but the blue and lavender colour palettes are on track to be a key colour for bridesmaids this year.

Style

Bridesmaids are daring to be different this year; they want to look individual and stand out. Bridesmaids are mixing up their dress choices with different straps: halter neck, one-shoulder and off-the-shoulder styles are really starting to pick up in popularity. Plunge necklines and slits are set to make an appearance too.

Fabric

Satin dresses are due to make a return in 2023, with them combining comfort with femininity. Satin is the perfect fabric to emphasise the female silhouette, looking effortlessly chic.

Our local experts answer your questions

VIP – VERY IMPORTANT PET

What top tips and advice do you have for having our dog involved on our wedding day?

Firstly, is your dog right for the job? Some dogs require more training than others to prepare them for your big day, this could mean months of planned training, so book early and plan well in advance of your big day.

Decide how you would like your dog to be involved in your big day. This could be walking down the aisle to deliver your rings, joining you at the drinks reception, or just simply for the photographs.

It might be that you can’t have your dog at your wedding but you would like to have he/she visit you or be nearby for your evenings or down time days. This could mean booking a licenced ‘Home-from-home’ boarding service with pet taxi provisions. This would mean your best friend would get a great holiday and be at hand to provide your much needed support when you require it.

Other considerations for the welfare of your pet, your guests and your venue:

1. Your pet will be very happy in its normal surroundings at home

CHANGE OF THE TIMES

How has photography changed over the years, what are 2023 couples looking for from their big-day photographer?

Up until around 15 years ago, wedding photography was mostly about recording the day and the traditional shots. The introduction of smartphones in to everyday life has seen a resurgence in everyone’s interest in photography and, more than that, creativity. From a photographer’s point of view, it’s fantastic that couples are so much more invested in their wedding photography and are excited about working with their photographer to create the most stunning images of their perfect day, rather than just record it. Our couples book us because, as full time, qualified Master Photographers, they know they can trust us to realise their dream photographs of their big day.

Eternity

however, bringing them in to an environment that is unfamiliar could be quite stressful for them. Hiring a professional trainer and behaviourist ensures that all measures are put in place for desensitisation, habituation, and familiarity as well as a positive process for training behaviours that ensure for a happy pet and that all your guests are safe, and your day goes well.

2. It can be quite overwhelming to be on the go in this new environment, where will your pet be taken to rest, sleep, chill, eat, drink and ‘be normal’? Don’t underestimate the importance of a break for your pet.

3. Insurance. Does the venue have provisions that cover your pet attending your wedding? As well as the chaperone professional having sufficient insurance and expertise.

4. DBS checks. It’s vital that your pet professional is criminal disclosure checked to give you, your venue, your pet and your guests confidence in your chosen service provider.

5. Gain references or check reviews on your chosen provider’s services before confirming your chosen professional.

THEMED TRANSPORT

With TV shows and films influencing wedding themes, think: The Crown, Bridgerton and James Bond. What cars do you suggest would work for different genres?

One of the most popular TV series to become a fashionable wedding theme is Peaky Blinders

Set in the early 1900s the fashion is timeless, lending to the bride dressed in sophistication and the grooms party in tweed suits and flat caps.

Our 1920s-style Landaulette and Beauford Roadster have graced many weddings channelling this theme; not only used for the transportation but also providing a fabulous backdrop for the wedding photography.

MATCHMADE IN HEAVEN

We’re completely unsure of what cake design to go for, we like so many on Instagram/Pinterest it can feel quite overwhelming. If you were given completely free rein on a cake design, what would you opt for, we’re looking for some inspiration! If I was given free rein for a wedding cake, I would go for a natural more muted colour background, with a range of beautiful handmade flowers to give that pop of colour and focus point. I think its lovely when the flowers on the cake tie in with the bride’s bouquet.

SUSTAINABLE CHOICES

With the increased awareness of sustainability and choosing wedding suppliers with good policies. How do we ensure our wedding flowers are as eco-friendly as possible? We can all do our bit to help climate change and protect our environment by choosing to be more mindful of our choices and choosing eco-friendly and sustainable.

I’m starting to get more and more enquiries from people who want to use seasonal and British flowers for their weddings.

It’s extremely important not to use floral foam as it contains micro plastics that get in to the water and don’t break down over time. Florists are starting to use moss and chicken wire in place of the traditional floral foam – the RHS has now banned all use of floral foam in its shows!

To be more eco-friendly is to choose locally grown flowers to cut down on land or air miles. A quick internet search, or by using Flowers From The Farm website – an organisation which promotes British Flowers – can help couples find a local grower. These local growers generally use sustainable and regenerative methods. A couple can rest assured that when they put their face into a bouquet of roses it’s only the perfume they inhale and not a cocktail of chemicals which are all too readily used in imported flowers.

If someone wants a rose in a winter bouquet, it’s a florist’s responsibility to educate their customers to what else is available seasonally that isn’t flown in from Africa or South America. Offering blooms that are just as beautiful but grown in the UK and don’t cost the earth both literally and figuratively.
