The gardens feature vibrant floral borders, impressive old trees and sweeping views over historic parkland, fields and vineyards. Its woodland trails and tree-lined avenues make a perfect backdrop for wedding photos, as do its iconic Tapestry Hall doors. Ceremonies take place in churches and other licensed wedding venues in and around Windsor. A popular choice is for couples to travel into Windsor Great Park and arrive at Cumberland Lodge by horse and carriage. The historic reception rooms offer flexible spaces to cater for celebrations of any size. The two main dining rooms, with their large windows and impressive fireplaces, can open into one larger room to accommodate up to 90 guests for a wedding breakfast or after-dinner dance. Guests retire to the Tapestry Hall, used as one of the backdrops in The King’s Speech (2010), starring Colin Firth. For smaller weddings, the venue can seat up to 16 guests in the elegant Princess Helena Drawing Room, which looks out on to landscaped gardens with expansive views of the Great Park beyond.

nnette and Will met when they belonged to the same rugby club. “We both still attend to this day and it’s a big part of our lives, Annette tells us. “When I first met him, I loved how laid-back Will was (and still is) and we enjoyed shared interests including sport and a love of good food and the great outdoors.” The couple became engaged during a surprise festive proposal. “Will popped the question in December 2017,” Annette explains. “It was a complete surprise – he hid the Tiffany & Co. ring in my advent calendar and I almost missed it! It’s a stunning solitaire diamond set in a platinum band and was so well chosen for me.”
SETTING THE SCENE “We loved the rural setting of Hillfields farm located in the picturesque Chilterns Countryside,” Annette says. “It’s a working stud farm so we were surrounded by horses and donkeys. As two animal lovers, it was perfect.” The couple had 12 round tables centred around the main table at their wedding breakfast so that their guests weren’t seated too far away. Loved ones were served a delicious vintage afternoon tea followed by catering from The Crab Shack by Cornell Catering during the evening. “No one went hungry!” Annette tells us. Anette and Will kept their décor simple with a rustic country theme complete

REAL WEDDINGS
“The mouth-watering afternoon tea and speeches were a highlight for me – I loved my dad’s and Will’s speeches. I read a poem that I had written for Will which was an incredibly emotional part of the day, but one I loved the most.” – Annette with pale green, blush pink and cream touches. “We had crisp white linen tablecloths and chair covers tied with hessian chair sashes,” Annette tells us. “We displayed our table plan on a wooden pallet and decorated it with gypsophila. Our elegant centrepieces were recycled milk bottles wrapped with hessian twine and also filled with gypsophila, which I made, and I also created our place names using brown craft card with calligraphy writing. My cousin, Anne, made our favour cases from craft card and we placed a shot glass in each one inscribed with our names and wedding date. They were a nod to my Polish granddad, Joe, who is no longer with us - we enjoyed plenty of vodka during the toasts!” Annette’s pretty bridal bouquet contained eucalyptus leaves, blush roses and gypsophila. “The roses were a nod to Will’s grandmother, Shirley, whose maiden name was Rose,” Annette tells us. “Our beautiful bridesmaids held posies of gypsophila that were placed around the reception venue after the ceremony to add to the décor”. The couple’s three-tier naked cake was also decorated with gypsophila. “We were so busy dancing during the evening that we forgot to hand it out after cutting it!” Annette says. “We also had bunting strung around the venue along with a selection of wicker and wooden hearts and milk bottles filled with battery-powered fairylights which looked so romantic as it got dark.”
LOOKING THE PART Annette wore a Maggie Sottero vintage-style dress. “I always wanted my shoulders and upper arms to be covered and this gown featured an open back which I loved,” She tells us. “It was simple and I teamed it with a fulllength veil and a pair of kitten heels which quickly got swapped for flip flops. I even performed our first dance in flip flops!” Will wore a three-piece tweed suit teamed with a gold tie and pocket square. “Our groomsmen wore the same suits as Will with sage-green ties and pocket squares to match the full-length bridesmaids’ dresses that had a similar low back to mine,” Annette explains.
TIME TO CELEBRATE “We had the singer Damian Delahunty to perform chill-out tracks throughout the day which created a relaxed vibe and during the evening, we had our friend’s band, Time Won’t Wait . A DJ then played various music for the party and all were huge hits with our guests!” Annette says. 35
“We would like to thank everyone involved in our wedding, from the talented team at the venue, to our wonderful photographer, Annabel, and all of our friends and family who helped us before, during and after to give us the best day possible.” – Annette and Will

K
imberley and Mike met when she was working on an early shift one Saturday morning with the CID and Mike arrived to do a late shift as a special constable (volunteer officer). “Mike introduced himself and we got chatting about the jobs that we had running that day and the conversation kept flowing,” Kimberley tells us. “At the end of my shift, we added each other on Facebook and then started messaging one another and our relationship blossomed from there.” The couple became engaged during a surprise proposal in London. “I thought we were visiting Mike’s parents for the weekend although “Our ceremony was Mike was acting oddly during the live via Zoom so that morning!” Kimberley tells us. “He left the house saying he was popping to more than 100 of our the shops and presented me with an loved ones from across envelope before he left. There were four more envelopes scattered around the world could be a our house containing clues and the part of our day which fourth one directed me outside where made it extra-special one of my best friends, Jen, was waiting for me. We ended up going and very emotional.” to London on a hunt for more clues. In – Kimberley and Mike total, there were 10 with the final one being hidden in Borough Market. Mike had taken one of my dresses which he left with chocolates and an empty ring box for me to find. By this point I knew what was coming and, at 7 pm as I made my way to champagne bar Vertigo 42, I was being sent video messages pre-recorded from my friends. As I arrived, Mike was looking nervous as he got down on one knee and popped the question!”
SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose the luxury Berkshire hotel Oakley Court to get married in. “We looked at various venues but when we spotted a photograph of the building of Oakley Court we both loved it,” Kimberley tells us. “As soon as we visited it, we knew that it was the perfect place to host our wedding. The staff were friendly, the menu choices were delicious and it was easy for our guests to get to and from, with accommodation provided on-site. Mike’s dad was also able to bring his boat Louisa along with him which provided a special touch and transported a few of our guests!” 45
“Because we couldn’t have much entertainment due to the restrictions in place, we hired a harpist play for most of the day which sounded magical.” – Kimberley and Mike The couple chose a blue and silver theme for their special day. “Our florist, Felicity, is a family friend and works with seasonal flowers but managed to source blue and purple varieties to match our theme,” Kimberley says. She created some amazing floral arrangements including a decorative archway and lanterns filled with flowers. Our table centrepieces saw the blooms displayed in Martini glasses placed on round mirrors and surrounded by blue candles which looked effective.” The couple named their tables after the roads where stations that they had worked at were situated and their place names were displayed in elegant cardholders sourced from the British Heart Foundation. “Our table plan had to be altered numerous times because of the restrictions that were in place because of the pandemic,” Kimberley says. The couple gave their guests pink and blue lollipops as favours along with a scented candle in either blue, purple or cream, and a small potted succulent. “I made, and decorated, our cake,” Kimberley tells us. “It was painted with blue flowers and we ordered an Iron Man topper because Mike is a big fan!”
LOOKING THE PART Kimberley chose an elegant dress with a bow on the back that she teamed with a veil and a faux-fur shawl. “I tried on a few dresses but loved how simple and elegant this style was,” she tells us. “It also had pockets which was a bonus! My necklace was my something borrowed-and-blue from Mike’s Auntie Kate and my earrings were a birthday present from one of my bridesmaids.” Mike wore his traditional family tartan while his groomsmen all wore tailcoat suits with blue cravats and matching accessories that tied in with our colour theme. “Our man-of-honour wore the same suit as the groomsmen but had a bowtie and pocket square to match the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses which were multiway styles in different shades of blue,” Kimberley says. 46

Ring-a-ding-ding County Wedding Magazines editor Melissa Barker shares her wedding planning journey
L
ike many of you, I’m currently trying to plan my wedding during a global pandemic – there’s a sentence I never thought I’d say! My partner Dave and I have been together just under three years, and we’d talked about getting engaged a few times over the course of our relationship. My work colleagues were also giddy every time we went away thinking he would propose; after a fantastic trip to the Northern Lights and coming back ring-free none of us had any idea when it would be – but I kind of liked it that way! He had planned to propose last July but, due to COVID-19, his dreams of a romantic trip abroad were quashed. He had several backup
plans, all of which were ruined by lockdowns and restrictions, so in the end, he asked me in front of my family (virtually) on Christmas Day. It was a lovely moment, and we were both really excited and couldn’t wait to start planning.
PLAN, PLAN, PLAN! Having worked in the wedding industry for the last few years, I had a rough idea of where to start with the planning process. I’m highly organised and a big fan of making lists – there isn’t a folder in our house that isn’t colour coded, so the first thing I did was purchase a wedding planner to keep track of everything. I also looked through local wedding magazines, made a Pinterest board and joined a few Facebook groups, which are full of community spirit. Next, Dave and I sat down and made a list of the people we wanted to come to our wedding. A great rule we followed was to only invite people that we’d spoken to in the last six months. It might sound harsh, but we both have large extended families and were concerned it may quickly turn in to a big list of people who we don’t really know! We narrowed it down to 40 day guests and an additional 40 in the evening. Once we had the list, we were able to start focusing on the dreaded budget, which has been one of my least favourite parts of the process so far. We looked through guides online and overbudgeted for everything to ensure we don’t have any nasty surprises further down the line.
THE PERFECT SETTING After we had decided on our rough numbers and budget, we began the exciting part – looking 58
at venues. Due to the restrictions, this was a bit unconventional, with many properties only offering virtual viewings or only communicating via e-mail. Luckily, we managed to view our favourite venue in person the day before lockdown 3.0 began, and I’m so glad we did! We fell in love with it right away, and the staff have been amazing throughout the initial planning process. They were more than happy to answer all of our questions, in particular the dreaded COVID-19 related ones, and quickly set our minds at ease. It was exactly what we wanted with a gorgeous outdoor ceremony space and a barn area for the reception, perfect for our desired summer nuptials. We’re so excited to visit again, and for my mum, who is in full planning mode, to finally see it. Based on our venue’s advice we reserved the date, checked that our local council had a registrar available and once that was confirmed, we paid our deposit – yipee! I’ve since seen online a few brides who have booked their wedding but have been unable to secure a celebrant or registrar for their date. I’m thankful we followed the advice and checked first, it’s meant we have had a drama-free start to the wedding planning and are excited to see our plans unfold! Next issue, hear all about our plans for the food – my favourite bit – and finding our photographer!

BRIDE’S DIARY
Dave and I want quite a simple cake that’s full of delicious chocolate – yum! I love the idea of incorporating log slices throughout the day to add a rustic touch.
Here’s my moodboard to help give you heaps of inspiration.
I adore macrame and have been learning how to do it in my spare time. We’re planning to make an arch to place behind us when we get married.
Our plan is to hire long wooden tables mixed with a few round versions.
Hanging lights are a popular trend that we’re thinking of using in our venue’s grounds.
We’ve decided on a sage green and blush pink colour scheme and want to incorporate lots of foliage.
Gold or rose gold cutlery is a must have!
This elegant envelope is exactly what we’re looking for. 59

TOPIC Our experts answer your questions
DIAMONDS ARE A GIRL’S BEST FRIEND Please can you give me some ideas for my bridal jewellery? Should my bridesmaids wear matching items? How about my mum? Meet the expert: Alison Cooper is the co-founder of Alicia J Diamonds offering fine jewellery for life’s special moments. Alison says: Choosing jewellery for your wedding is exciting but what works best? For brides, the pieces will be treasured for a lifetime, so it needs some careful consideration. Diamonds are a popular choice for this reason because it’s the stone that famously represents forever. Picking jewellery that complements your wedding dress, rather than competes with it, is the best idea. Bear in mind the design of the gown, for example, off-the-shoulder dresses look wonderful teamed with a pair of statement or drop earrings whereas simple studs tend to compliment high-neck designs. Wrist jewellery can distract from the ring, so a simple timeless tennis bracelet or delicate bangle paired with a classic pair of studs or diamond drop earrings can work well. Aquamarine gemstones are another option, thought to bring happiness
to marriages and good fortune to the woman who wears them. They were traditionally considered as a gift for the groom to give to his bride on the morning of their wedding. The pale blue colour of an aquamarine gemstone is subtle enough that it won’t distract from the wedding dress. An aquamarine pendant, ring or pair of earrings also add that special something blue. Bridesmaids Thank your bride tribe with personalised jewellery engraved with a message. Remember to tailor designs to complement their dresses and tastes, and to complement their dresses. You could choose precious gemstone jewellery to match the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses. Consider gifting your bridesmaids the same piece so that they match, or opt for similar styles based on a theme. Our delicate butterfly rings are perfect for bridesmaids and can be customised with each of your best girls’ birthstones. This creates a uniform look that they can all wear on the special day but one that is still unique and personal to them. Mother-of-the-bride A wedding isn’t just a monumental day for the couple, it’s also a hugely special day in a mother’s life. We suggest for mothers to steer clear of colourful statement jewellery and instead opt for classic, elegant pieces like a tailor-made diamond pendant necklace or a delicate toggle bracelet. 0333 987 4985 | www.aliciajdiamonds.com www.facebook.com/aliciajdiamonds www.instagram.com/aliciajdiamonds

SILKY SMOOTH
I’d heard about the wonderous effects of silk on hair, but was slightly sceptical until I discovered British brand, This Is Silk. I can tell you I haven’t looked back since. If, like me, you’re growing concerned about the increasing knot of hair wrapped around your hair band, check out the silk skinnies. Made from 22 momme mulberry silk, they protect your hair from friction, kinks and damage, offering strong hold without the unwanted effects of a standard elastic hair band. No longer do I pull a clump of hair out of my head whenever I take my hair down and it already looks in much better condition overall. The bunny skinnies are my super-cute personal favourites, worth every penny. Head over to https://thisissilk.com, you won’t regret it!

Wedding wellness
The last year’s been tough – take some time out for self-care and focus on your wellbeing #HYDRATIONISKEY
We all know by now that hydration is imperative to good health and a key part of any beauty regime. And if you haven’t been told by now that it’s the key to your wedding skin prep – you will be! However, switching that second cup of coffee for tap water isn’t necessarily the easiest change to swallow. What if we told you there was something that hydrated you faster than ordinary water, tasted better and provided an energising alternative to that acidic cuppa? It’s time to say “hello” to alkaline water. Actiph Water is the UK’s first alkaline ionised water. Purified from Shropshire with added electrolytes and minerals it hydrates you fast and helps to give your skin it’s glow back. Find out more at https://actiphwater.com
#FRESHSTART Bored with hot water and lemon in the morning? Then maybe it’s time for a Fresh Start with Pukka’s newest caffeine-free organic tea. Expertly blended with sustainablysourced organic herbs, delicious zesty organic lemon and warming aromatic fennel seeds, it gently awakens your body and mind to a new day helping you feel your brightest self. What’s more, this stimulating yet soothing blend helps to strengthen the digestive system to support optimum metabolism. Priced at £2.99 for 20 sachets, it’s available at https://uk.pukkaherbs.com, and from health food stores and supermarkets across the land.
#FindYourInnerCalm Designed to accompany ESPA’s sensorial collection of Signature Blends, the Aromatic Essential Oil Diffuser, £85, harnesses the harmonising power of aromatherapy to nurture your wellbeing. Find it at www.espaskincare.com 84
#ThePowerOfSleep Given the trials of the last year, looking after ourselves at home has never been more important, so to help with this endeavour, The Somerset Toiletry Company has created a collection of gifts to promote self-care and wellness and we’re all about its Sleepeze range. After all, the importance of sleep when it comes to ultimate wellbeing can never be underestimated, it’s crucial for body and mind. The Sleepeze Calming Gift Set, £9.95, includes a silky eye mask, pillow mist, and essential oil-based rollerball. Then there’s the Calming Sleep Stones, £11.95 – 200g of volcanic rock infused with essential oils to enhance your night-time routine. Finally, in the collection is the Calming Bath Salts, £4.95, perfect for washing away that build up of daily stress before bed. Treat yourself at www.thesomersettoiletryco.co.uk
#SCREENEYES Modern life means we spend more and more time on our devices and computers, and since you blink six to eight times less when you look at a screen, it’s no wonder that many of us are ending the day with tired and heavy eyes. Dry eye syndrome is a condition that affects around 80 per cent of us – a sobering thought considering screen use has increased by 187 per cent over the last three lockdowns. To combat this problem, modern eyecare brand Peep Club has launched its new Relief Eye Spray, £15, which hydrates eyes from the inside out with a clever combo of vegan-friendly, organic and wild-harvested ingredients. It’s suitable for even the most sensitive of peepers, as well as being safe for contact lens wearers and can be used over make-up. Check out www.peepclub.com

EXPERT ADVICE
Beauty Q&A
BLUSHING BRIDE Meet the expert: Sadie May is a professional hair and make-up artist based in Reading.
These talented hair and make-up artists reveal all about summer weddings
Please can you tell me what colours are best for bridal make-up this summer, and what styles are best suited for long hair at an outdoor wedding?
YOU GLOW, GIRL
Sadie says: After months of uncertainty, it doesn’t feel real that couples can now start planning the finishing touches for a wedding day, large or small! When it comes to bridal make-up choices, you should embrace the natural earthy tones found in shimmering rose, golden brown and matte cream cosmetics. My go-to product this summer is the Quad Eyeshadow pallet in Mojave by Nars. The shades in this palette will create a soft contrast for fair skin and complement the richness of darker skin tones. Match your lip colour with your personality and consider using a matte texture for a sophisticated polished look. Hairdos for brides getting married outdoors can be tricky with the potential for sun and heat, wind and rain, and humidity. Control any frizz using Aveda’s Smooth Infusion hair care range that will protect your locks for up to 12 hours. With long hair, you have a slight advantage because there are so many styles that you can choose from. The popular ones at the moment are relaxed waves, a braided halo and my number one favourite, a volume-packed ponytail with a few strands left framing your face for a relaxed, bohemian look.
Meet the expert: Jennifer Fogerty is a professional hair and make-up artist based in Windsor. Now that restrictions have lifted and we can start putting the finishing touches to our late-summer wedding, please can you tell me what colours and ideas are trending for bridal make-up? I need some inspiration! Jennifer says: The beauty look trending for weddings this year is the ‘no make-up’ illusion. Brides want to look like themselves on a really good day. Natural tones are key for this with subtle shades applied on the eyes and individual lashes to define and enhance them. Warm matte bronzers without any shimmer will sculpt cheekbones in a flattering way and pink tones in cream blush will add a flush of colour. I recommend Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush in Kokei 08 by Shiseido as an ideal shade for darker skin tones and Cloud Paint in Spark by Glossier is a great pick for fair skin. It’s essential to choose a lip colour that enhances your natural shade, or something that works in harmony with the blusher that you’ll be wearing. The Matte Lipstick by M.A.C in Velvet Teddy is a great product that works well with all skin tones while the Lustre Lipstick in Raspberry Ripple by Cosmetics à la Carte offers a richer feel.

MAKING
waves
Kelly Andrews talks to bridal hair specialist Heather Dapaah about her top big-day looks
86
INTERVIEW If you could choose any celebrity to work with, who would it be and why? Can I give two? Michelle Obama and Dina Asher-Smith. They’re very different but both stand for excellence and class. They’re extremely down-to-earth, hard workers and I really admire them both. What’s hot in bridal hair at the moment? Definitely the more relaxed hair styles that look romantic and sultry. So, it makes sense that romantic waves, maybe with the sides pinned up, are popular at the minute.
A
ward-winning hair stylist Heather Dapaah opened her London-based salon, Her Definition at 23 and since then doors have continued to open on her career, working on TV sets, music videos, and getting celebs eventready. To name drop a few, Heather’s clients have included reality stars Kaz Crossley and Priscilla Anyabu, athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton, and British RnB artists Ray BLK, Miraa May and Dolapo. She’s known for her signature Hollywood waves and says, “I love to help women understand their true hair type and learn how they can achieve their hair goals.” Heather is highly sought after for her wide range of hair knowledge, having worked with all hair types and textures, so CWM beauty editor Kelly Andrews was delighted that she was able to take some time out to chat to her about their mutual passion – bridal hair.
I would say, start with the neckline of your desired dress because that will determine how much space we have to play around with. Obviously, face shape is really important too. In general, most people know what hairstyles suit them best, but you want to push the boundaries a little and come out of your comfort zone for your big day. Finally, the style of dress: whether it’s A-line, ballgown, fishtail and so on. Ultimately, you want a well-balanced silhouette. So, if you have an A-line that’s quite slim at the bottom, you can get away with bigger, wow-factor up dos.
If you could impart just one piece of essential advice to brides about their big-day, what would it be? Please take in the moment. Stop thinking of how people will view the day, the reception or indeed, you. Just think of the blessing of marriage and take in every moment.
What’s the biggest pitfall brides should take care to avoid when it comes to their wedding hair? Make sure you have a trial with the hair stylist if you haven’t already seen them do the look you have in mind. It’s also important to practice your wedding hair style as what you think you want might not look or feel right for your day.
Are there any red-carpet celebrity styles that you’ve created that would translate to a bridal look? I’d have to say Gatsby-themed Hollywood waves and vintage waves. No matter what the latest hair trend is you always see these looks on red carpets everywhere.
How can brides ensure their hair is in its best condition for the big day? Do exactly as your wedding hair stylist recommends! This is the only time I would say don’t listen to your hairdresser, because your bridal specialist knows and understands the look you have envisioned together.
What hair products or tools can’t you live without? For bridal hairstyling it’s my one-inch curling tong, liquid hairspray by L’Oréal Studio Line, hair pins and my tail comb.
What’s next for you? Well, after the detrimental effects of this pandemic, it’s definitely to get back to my beloved brides. I’d love to work on some celebrity weddings too.
How can a bride set about deciding the right style for her on her wedding day?
For further information, check out www.herdefinition.co.uk
What’s your main ethos when it comes to creating wedding hair? No matter what the look is I always try to create statement hair that’s timeless, classy and stylish. What’s your signature look? My clients always want my signature Hollywood waves, which instantly add glamour and volume to lustrous locks. It’s a timeless look that’s more than a trend, enhancing any wedding style. What’s been the highlight of your career so far? I’ve been super fortunate in my career so far, especially on a global-scale as I get to meet lots of people. I’d have to say the highlight is the recognition I’ve received for the elegance of my bridal hairstyling. 87

HONEYMOON
Retreat to ty the ci Hannah Faulder visits The Marylebone, and finds out that it offers the best of both worlds for a minimoon in the capital
A
s the country prepared for Lockdown Part II, my husband and I managed to sneak in a last-minute escape to the city to enjoy a much-needed retreat at The Marylebone. Nestled in the hotel’s super-trendy namesake neighbourhood, between the Georgian Welbeck Street and the part-pedestrianised Marylebone Lane, you’re just a short walk from London’s most famous Monopoly locations, from Bond Street to Mayfair. Stepping out for a stroll from the hotel, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re in a bustling Cotswolds village – that is until you happen upon Oxford Street. But this is what makes it such a wonderful destination for a minimoon or post-wedding break: it’s close to the action, but it provides a tranquil retreat from it too.
STAY Cross the threshold, and you’ll find a neutral palette offsets the pops of colour and modern paintings on the walls perfectly. Look carefully, and you’ll notice a subtle design scheme reflecting the four seasons as you walk through the hotel. Following an extensive refurbishment, the striking decor extends throughout, and no luxurious touch has been spared. Classic timber flooring, marble-topped counters and wood panelling blend seamlessly with curated artwork and designer furniture. There’s a whole host of event spaces too for weddings and celebrations with real character; I particularly loved the verdant Palm Room and the sociable
al fresco terraces. Our corner suite was chic and fresh, its spacious circular layout houses a small kitchen area, complete with Nespresso machine, a sumptuous living area, dining table and huge marshmallowy bed. “We could live here,” my husband and I kept saying to each other. We sat, champagne in hand, and gazed out of the window over the pretty streets of Marylebone with the city lights glittering in the distance; it had a distinct Mary Poppins vibe. The striking marble bathroom boasted a huge bath, walk-in shower and trendy Malin+Goetz toiletries. The welcome pack with COVID-safe goodies like hand sanitiser was gratefully received, and the hotel clearly states all the measures it has taken to look after guests’ wellbeing. Looking to really treat yourself and your loved one? The super-stylish Marylebone Suite has a showstopping cedar-clad terrace, with a retractable roof, awesome vistas and an outdoor TV and fireplace – it’s certainly memorable! While you’re here, why not treat yourself to some R&R in the Third Space Health Club, with its gym and 18m pool.
EAT We dragged ourselves away from the champagne and fluffy robes long enough to enjoy the hotel’s restaurant, 108 Brasserie. This is not a typical hotel restaurant, more a fabulous eatery for locals and tourists alike that just happens to be attached. Set on the cobbles of Marylebone Lane, the outdoor seating with patio heaters makes it look so inviting. Inside, you’ll find traditional style with a modern edge, from rich upholstery and parquet flooring to antique mirrors and decadent florals. The meals
on the globally inspired menu feature fresh ingredients with a focus on seasonality. Yummy burrata, salads and decadent desserts were the order of the day, making the restaurant a mustvisit for guests.
EXPLORE The next morning, we treated ourselves to a full English breakfast (one vegetarian) in bed, with hearty portions served under silver cloches, before heading out on foot to explore the neighbourhood. This soon turned into a wonderful day strolling through the nearby Royal Parks, spotting parrots and pelicans before ducking into a café for a takeaway coffee as we meandered up The Mall to take in Buckingham Palace. Next up was a stroll through Hyde Park and into the shopping mecca that is Oxford Street before heading back for a quiet drink at the hotel’s bar – perfection! If you don’t get the best weather, though, the capital’s attractions are within easy reach on public transport – or you could just hunker down in your room and luxuriate in your newly wedded bliss.
