Breif

Happiness, future and social network. We were given 3 keys areas for our next and final project, collide. We have been asked to conjoin these 3 areas, making it personal to ourselves. We will finally have to create a final piece prsenting our final idea, whether this be digital, physical, or both! to help me get the best outcome, I will start off by reasearching into what makes me happy, my future and what social media has upon myself and others. Carrying on with 2 concepts and ideas with artist to help ifluence me. Then finally, a final idea with thumbnails and designs and 1 or 2 final pieces.

What is happiness to me and others?

Happiness Happiness is not only very hard to measure, but it is difficult to singularly define. What is happiness? People have agonised over this question for centuries. Happiness is a combination of how satisfied you are with your life and how good you feel on a day-to day basis, if it be through your work, your relationships with family and friends or even heading to your favourite high-street clothing shop and finding that expensive top youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve dreamed about, which is now on sale. Happiness to me is spending time with my family or friends shopping, there is no greater feeling. However, happiness for other people can be simply sat at home, watching their favourite TV box collection. It just isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t easy trying to produce something that is suitable for everybodyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s happiness, so to overcome this, I will produce something that is aimed at what I believe makes a large variety of woman happy.

Although I havent really thought much about my future. My heart is set with graphics and fashion, university being my current obligation right now I am hoping to move abroad at the end and carry on my passion, expieriencing different cultures along the way. Thinking sbout my future makes me excited, I love the thought of not knowing what life will give you, whether good or bad.

What social media and networks mean to me today.

Social Network Social network to me is important. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s a way of staying close to my family and friends, whilst being at university. Sharing photos, videos and memories, it makes me feel a lot closer to them. My top social network I use is Facebook. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s like my own memory box with all my friends who can enjoy it together with me. My second most used network is snapchat. An app that allows you to send photos and messages that only last a short peroid of time (10 seconds tops) with silly filters and stickers. Finally, Pinterest and Depop. These apps are more based around fashin and art, something I love. However, this isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t really a social app where you and your friends can connect together, its more of a personal app to yourself.

A lot of things make me happy, graphic design, my family and friends. However, a very big passion of mine is designing my own clothes and shopping with family and friends.

But how can

I collide these together?

After researching into what exactly makes me happy as a person and my connection between social media, the first thing that popped into my head is Facebook. Facebook is a social network used by thousands of people, everyday. Photos, memories, videos, chats, it connects us to everyone, whether theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re on the other side of the world or simple 5 minutes down the road- The power of social media! Although, this is only one thing that not only keeps me happy but so many others, from just a simple click on your computer or phone. However, I want to focus around something that covers all 3 of the briefs ideas because I feel I can create something that makes and and others happy. I would like to create something that can be seen by everyone, I want to make other people happy, because that makes me happy. So what better way through social media, but what social meda?

I started to think of other forms of social media that base their network on fashion, to help inspire me throughout my work. However, not finding many social networks based around fashion itself, I decided to look at the new most used social medias today. This being one of many YikYak. It’s a ncew app that is based around your location. Simpler to Facenook, you post statuses ‘Yaks’, where people around your area with the app can read and comment. However, the app users are seen as annoymous. Also, a ‘Hot’ pages has been added, so now you can read the hottet yaks around the world, based on your thoughts and different catogaries. I thought this was a great way of connecting people together through social media!

Contextual Reference for my idea

Stylezz

What will i do next then? After looking into all the apps currently used today. I havent really come across anything based around fashion, where people can chat and share with friends and people all around the world. However, I came across an app named Stylezz. This app is a fashion blog, where peoploes outfits are captured, then uploaded into the app with a final discription telling the app users where the items can be purchased from. I really like this idea. However, it doesnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t really connect us together, like Facebook and YikYak etc, which is one of few most known apps today. The more I look into apps, more interest is growing. I have never thought about making an app/website before. It would be out of my comfort zone but I am excited to see what I can come up with. I will carry on with further research then come up with 2 concepts then pick 1 out of the 2 and bring forward.

Concept one My first idea is to create a website with my own handmade clothes. Me and my sister have currently made a new logo name, following on the 2 years we have been designing and selling clothes online, through different social medias online. However, I want to make this a little more personal to the buyer. As I stated above, the things that make me happy are designing, making clothes for others etc. So, I thought about maybe creating a website that lets the buyer personalise their clothes to how they want them. I would create my own patterns and clothing designs, giving the buyer 3 options of personalising their clothes. The top, the bottoms and finally the fabric. Not only would this be an ideal idea for people like me, who are very picky when buying clothes but this will make the buyers chosen outfit unique to them!

I will recreate a quick photoshop file, showing my idea. I already have a logo, but I will play around with different styles of font because Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m looking for a simple, sophisticated design. The colours I have chosen are a baby blue and a soft pink and black, I feel all these colours fit my criteria.

Concept two My next idea is to recreate an app, like shezz but more personal to the user. I want this app to have the same concept as YikYak and shezz. An app where girls can come together and share their clothes online with others. The app will be simple to use. I want to create a worldwide page named hot, this will show the hottest outfits around the world voted by the users. It will give the option for girls to comment and chat on the post, to find where the outfit is from. Next, I want an area navigation. This will be based on your area only, like YikYak! But you can only view peoples clothes etc. I want the radius to be quite large. For example, using the app from Huddersfield you can view peoples post from the current location to Manchester. This will give a larger variety of posts and clothes. The idea of this is so girls can finally ask girls where theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve got their outfit from if its simple for a party or a meeting at work, without looking silly. I want everyone to be anonymous when posting but have their own handle, which will be shown on their posts. I think this is a great idea for us girls because Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve always found theres nothing more embarrassing running down the street asking some girl where he got her black frill top from.

First I will come up with a name and type. If I am happy with the outcomes I will bring forward this idea, as I feel this concept fits all criteria to my brief, happiness, my future and finally social media.

Development

After creating a selection of thumbnails for my app icon. I decided to bring forward this idea as more ideas came to me for the app. I have recreated the icons on photoshop, using the colours I have chosen above. I also came across this free marble effect from shutterstock. I have used this in the background because I feel it fits with the sophisticated look I am going for. So credit to shutterstock.

After bringing forward my app designs, I have finally chosen one ut of all 8. I asked around using acebook getting peoples opinions and the most liked is this one. I have used Basic Font becauseits simple and easily remembered. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve kept with the colour sheme and added the marble effect to give the app that regignition. Now that I have my app icon. I will start to think about what I want my app to look like.

Thumbnails for advert Here I will start to think about what I want my advert to look like. I will take into account the colours I have used and the typography used throughout my progression. Although I alredy had a firm idea to what the app is to look like, I started off drawing a few siple outlines of what teh layout of the app would look like. I want to keep the pages pretty similar to one another, keeping them simple and easy to use, but also appealing to teh eye. I want to create navigational buttons at the bottom, which gives the user options to view the worlds hottest trends voted by everyone on the app, or simply scroll through the latest posts posted in her area on â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Areaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; and finally the last two that gives the user an account setting, which shows off the posts she has repost and her own outfits she has uploaded onto the app. Finally, the last being a camera, this allows the user to take their own photo to upload, without haveing to go off the app.

// I have chosen photos that look as natural and fashionable as possible. I gathered these images off Pinterest because I wanted a wide range of photos, just so when the App is launched, people have a feel and understand that the App is worldwide not just based on your location. The pictures I have chosen will be used on the App as an advertisement, so the public get a small taste. I also added a few of my own photos of my friends because I want this App to be useable for everybody.

Final advert outcome Here, I have completed my app layout. I have kept with the colour scheme using soft pink, blue and the marble effect. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve kept the navagational bar located at the bottom, big and bold, so its more easy to use for the user. I have also added a map location, so the user knows exactly where their radius is showing the clothes.

Contextual Reference Now that I know what I am aiming for. I started to look up different fashion advertisements that currently exist. There werenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t many that really shone out to me. However, although this advert isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t linked to apps etc, it is based on fashion. I picked this advert as a reference because I like the use of effects used in the video. Although the effects are rather simple, they work really well. The photos are shown through stop frame animation. This gives off a magazine, stylish effect, something that young woman (like me) enjoy to see. This video really inspired me to get creative with my own advert. I want it to look fresh and simple, but fashionable as well. I will start off with creating quick thumbnails on photoshop, exploring different layouts for my advert, whcih I will then bring forward again and create my own advert using after effects.

Start of my App. Adding all the photos I have chosen from my photos and Pinterest. I wanting to achieve the look my contetual artist achieved. A flash of images. Adding all the photos as their own layers, one after another I had them fashing after each other. Adding colours from my colour scheme. At the end of this shot I used the camera tool, to zoom into the photos, which then exploded into the apps icon, she, which then zoomed back out again.

Next, I used the stroke tool on top of the text I added in After effects. This gave of the effect as if someone was writing â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;where did get that?â&#x20AC;&#x2122; I kept the she from the previous shot, so the logo is remembered through the advert.

My next shot, I brought forward my illustration files of the iphone. This next shows how to use the app and what it has to offer. I changed the opacity so it gives off the effect that someone is clicking onto the app. Next, changing the position of the posts, adding keyframes every second movng it up and down so it gives off that effect that the app is currently in use. I changed the scale of the ihpone also, to give it that advanced, proffesional look.

For my next scene, I changed the camera again so it zooms into the text. I then added another effect onto the text called typewritter. This is then added over t he text layer on after effects, this is a shorted way of giving that written effect. I did this so the advert shows that peopl can comment and like the posts on the app.

Next, I added the a camera button that flashes, as if someone has clicked onto the app, which then takes you to the camera.

I added the photos as their own layers, creating a stop frame effect, then finally using the camera tool I adjusted the camera to zoom into the app logo at the end.

Poster idea

To help promote this app, I want to really get this app out there using different forms of advertisement, that are suitable for the target audience. I already have an advertisment. So I thought a poster would be a final advertisement for this app. I will locate these posters, around town and in shop windows as this is where most people who loves clothes will be. I want to keep this poster simple but regignisable. To do so, I will create a small selection of thumbnails, showing my different ideas. However, the main problem is how will this poster advertise this app, if the app is currently avilable yet. To overcome this, I created a QR can using qrgenerator.com. Adding my advert to YouTube because this is a social media most people know about, I added the address to the generator and created my own first qr for my advertisement! I will use this on the poster as the main aspect so people can scan the qr and watch the advert

Final Poster

After creating a few thumbnails and bringing forward 3. I have got a final oster with a working QR to my advert. I kept the poster simple with little discription, so it leaves the public questioning what the poster is all about I kept the colour scheme the same and added the app logo, so the audience know that whatever this is, its useable for your iphone.

Final outcome conclusion. I have completed my final outcomes. An app, advert and finally a poster with a QR. I believe I have fit the briefs needs, which is to combine the 3 chosen key words, happiness, social media and finally, future. As I explained above, making me happy is creating clothes and shopping. I love designing anything linked to fashion. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve made this app idea because I and other girls are always questioning or too embarressed to ask someone on the street where thwir outfit from. This app gives gives the confidence to chat and browse outfit in ther area and all around the world. How is this linked with my future? My future I hope to be a graphic designer, focusing on fashion companies and products, so creating this app was a lot of fun. Finally, I greated a whole new app idea (social media), which hasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t been done before. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve tried relating the app to successful apps that are very well known to the younger generation. Overall, I am happy with my final outcome. I believe I followed the briefs requirements, making the project personal to me. However, if I had enough time on the project, I would liek to learn how to create this app, as I feel it will be something myself would like to use.
