covenant family

July is the time for hot weather, vacations, and Covenant’s annual medical open enrollment. Open enrollment is the time for everyone to renew or revise their coverage options for medical, dental, vision, and other health benefits. Most health insurance premiums continue to rise throughout the US, and Covenant is no exception to these challenges. We have evaluated many options to keep costs down while also maintaining the current level of coverage. I want to suggest 5 ways you can help minimize rising healthcare costs: 1. See your doctor – preventative care, such as your annual physical, is an effortless way to ensure you maintain good overall health. All employees and family members should visit their family doctor at least once per year for an annual checkup. 2. Take care of yourself now – we value our employees and families and want everyone to live a long and healthy life. Maintaining good health includes eating well, exercising, and keeping regular visits with your doctor as well as help you save money on prescription drugs and doctor visits due to ongoing illnesses. 3. Limit Emergency Room visits – Consider visiting a clinic at your local pharmacy for treatment of strep throat, joint sprains or infections. Another alternative is your local urgent care facility for after-hours care. These options are less expensive and faster than a trip to the ER. 4. Practice safety – at Covenant, we always stress safety in our work environment. In addition, we encourage our employees to maintain this mindset while at home or on vacation. 5. Listen to your body – if you feel out of sorts, trust that your body is telling you something. Keep track of your symptoms and schedule a doctor appointment. Don’t wait 3, 6, or 12 months before the situation deteriorates. I hope some of the above suggestions will help keep you healthy and save you money. Thank you! CH R I STI A N B ELL, CFO

FOR DEDICATION TO SAFE WORK PRACTICES AND PERSONIFICATION OF COVENANT’S CORE VALUES

NELDA MARTIN

Administrative Assistant, Southern Division - Texas

The South Texas office would like to recognize Nelda Martin. Nelda is our Administrative Assistant in Pleasanton. To say she’s an important presence in the office is an understatement. She isn’t afraid to stay late or lend a hand to others, and Nelda is always ready to help with whatever is needed. She is a high-performance person, and we are grateful to have her on our team. Thank you Nelda for all of your hard work!

JOSHUA STINSON & BRANDON BALDWIN

Torque and Test Hands, Southern Division - Louisiana

These men wear many hats here in Sibley. Josh & Brandon are titled as Torque & Test hands but they also willfully rig up and rig down jobs in the field and work in the shop when they’re not busy in the field. When there is a problem with one of our valves in the field, these two guys take the call, day and night, and go fix the issue. They are on call 24/7 365 and don’t complain. They always have a can-do attitude. Recently they went above and beyond to help us get a number of jobs rigged up and down, working day and night, exemplifying hard work, dedication and selflessness. Thank you guys for all you do!

DOING GOOD WORK

IN WICKETT! AT A RECENT CAMARADERIE LUNCH IN WICKETT, WE FOUND THAT #COVENANTSTRONG IS NOT JUST A SLOGAN ON A T-SHIRT, BUT IT IS A WAY OF LIFE AND WORK. OUR TEAM THERE IS DOING A GREAT JOB RECEIVING EQUIPMENT FROM RIGGED DOWN JOBS, AND MAKING IT READY (OFTEN ON SHORT NOTICE) IN A TIMELY MANNER FOR THE NEXT JOB. THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR GREAT WORK IN WEST TEXAS! YOU ARE MAKING A BIG DIFFERENCE!

Amy Pacheco

I am a Colorado Native, with the love of all 4 beautiful seasons and mountains. I enjoy being with my family, traveling, cooking and gardening. I also enjoy entertaining. My Husband, Rudy, and I have a blended family; 3 children; Amanda who is 29, Shelby 26, Roman 16 and a beautiful 2 year old Granddaughter, Logan Grace. My family is my life! A fun fact about me is that I lived in Washington State for 10 years and because of that my Senior Prom was at the Space Needle in Seattle. I love that my job brings me many joys and challenges and nothing is the same day-to-day. I love the Team I work with and the Company I work for. The Northern Division is like my family. While I struggle with work life balance, I love coming to work every single day.

Beyond the Benefits

- HOW TO GET THE BEST TREATMENT AND THE BEST PRICE FOR YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR VISITS

There’s never a good time to get sick, but it always seems like you need a doctor when you’re either out of town, your regular doctor is not available, or it’s the middle of the night. It wasn’t that long ago that the only other option was the Emergency Room, but today that’s not the case. There are a lot of different options you can use (through your Covenant Benefits) to quickly get to a doctor.

MD LIVE

Our insurance includes access to MD Live which is a doctor that you can call or video chat with right away. These doctors can diagnose you or your family and even issue a prescription without ever leaving your home.

Urgent Care Clinic

Urgent Care Clinics are available in most local communities and do not require appointments. They are first come, first serve, and they have great facilities. The average wait time is 30 minutes, and they are capable of treating minor to serious illnesses and conditions. Most urgent care clinics offer extended hours and are open 7 days a week. Urgent care medical professionals are equipped to respond quickly to a variety of non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, such as: • • • • • • • •

Fever Ear pain Painful urination Persistent diarrhea Sore throat Vomiting Mild asthma Minor burns

• • • • • • •

Rashes and other skin irritations Animal bites Dehydration Lacerations Infections Simple fractures and sprains Nose bleeds

Emergency Room

Emergency rooms are the best option in cases where conditions are life-threatening and may require advanced treatment, such as immediate surgery. These medical facilities are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offer quick access to a range of specialists. This high level of care typically increases the cost of an emergency room visit and causes wait time on average of more than 2 hours. Medical problems that may require emergency room attention include: • • • • • • •

Confusion Head injury Coughing blood Severe chest pain Shortness of breath Abdominal pain Sudden vision changes

• • • • • •

Spinal injuries Uncontrollable bleeding Severe vomiting and/or diarrhea Seizures Drug overdoses Severe burns

QUALITY - HEALTH - SAFETY - ENVIRONMENT

- BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are roughly 3,000,000 occupational injuries every year. It is common for those injuries to include exposure to blood which means possible exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. Bloodborne Pathogens are infectious microorganisms in human blood that can cause diseases in humans. Major bloodborne pathogens include hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Be sure to catch the safety blast emails and social media posts every Monday and Friday for some practical ways to stay safe in and out of the field.
