Letter from the Editor Woof, and Welcome back to another issue of DOGUE! This April we celebrate Easter with Glam, with our Super Model, Bella, and GGCREW jewels! For this issue, we sat down with Tashania Matos, the mamager of Bella, and Shannon Cooper, the designer of GGCREW, to give you the exclusive on dog fashion and jewelry.

We celebrate this Spring Bloom with Easter Puppies, and bring you the latest dog news, including the world famous Dog Food Truck experience that's taking the dog world by storm!

We share the latest Spring collection from Spark Paws, and the DOGUE shop. We also do our first interactive Who Wore It Best Edition of Easter Pastels, and let you vote on your favorite model on @coverdogs!

INGREDIENTS 1/2 Cup of Peanu Bu er 2 Cups of Whole Whea Flower 1 Cup of S eel Cu Oa s 1 Cup of Ho Chicken Bro h 2 Tbsp of Olive Oil 2 Tbsp of Honey

INSTRUCTIONS Prehea oven o 350°. Place s eel cu oa s in blender, food processor, or co ee grinder un il hey are almos a a powder/ our consis ency. Combine peanu bu er, ho chicken bro h, olive oil, and honey. S ir un il dissolved. S ir in ground oa meal and our un il well combined. (I like o use my hands o make sure every hing is comple ely mixed.) Place dough on a powdered surface and roll ou o a 1/4” hickness. Cu ou shapes wi h e shaped cookie cu ers. Place on a parchmen lined cookie shee and bake for 10 minu es. Ice cookies if desired, and place back in oven for 2-3 minu es.

You’ve heard of fast food trucks, but have you ever heard of dog food trucks?

The dog food truck experience is taking the U.S. by storm! This month, we got to experience it for ourselves, and sit down with Ron and Solo, the owners of Woofbowl, to bring you the scoop!

“Woofbowl is all about health and wellness for our pets. We came up with some crazy cool treats, like Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, Nuggets, Ice Cream Donuts, Doggy Beer, and CBD Munchies for our dogs!" explained Ron. Woofbowl, which defines itself as “Fast Food Doggie Style”, was founded in 2017 by a husband and wife team, who wanted to turn their passion for dogs and nutrition into a fun -filled experience.

Solo came up with the idea to serve healthy dog food when she noticed a remarkable change in her dogs, after switching them to a raw food diet.

It led her on a path to studying canine nutrition, and, having fun with it, in the process.

“It started as a passion project. We obviously love dogs, and we are dog parents" explained Ron and Solo who are parents to two French bulldogs, Latto, and Dino. They got Latto as a service dog for Ron after he was diagnosed with PTSD due to military service. Latto is also the face of the company's logo.

“Latto and Dino have changed my life immensely.

They have completely softened me. It’s like my heart is walking around on 8 legs” explains Ron, who’s got thousands of emotional support dogs, these days, as his clients.

The Woofbowl truck tours around the U.S. bringing seasonal dog food menu items such as Doggie Pho, Chicken N’ Waffles, Pupperoni Pizza, Tacos, Cake-Pups, and Pupkin Spice Latte.

But, Woofbowl is not alone! There are a dozen of dog food trucks all over the U.S., including Fido To Go; a flashy yellow truck, based in California, offering the biggest selection of gourmet dog cookies!

There's also Alice’s Gourmet Wonderland, based in Orange County; Bone Apetreat based in Denver; Homegrown Hounds, based in Dallas; Treat Waggin', based in Kansas City; Fetch, based in Birmingham; 4 Paws Pastries, based in Nashville, and Seattle Barkery, just to name a few! waiting list I’m constantly working on. I enjoy creating pieces for fashionistas who give me creative license to make what I want. When I take on a new project I like to get to know the human behind the beautiful pet account. I study their style and create from there.” explained Shannon.

"We have been involved in the dog fashion world since 2021.

My Frenchies began repping many of our favorite brands including Frenchconn, who I eventually started collaborating with on collections. We did a designer inspired collar set in December 2021 which was very successful.

Today, GGCREW is known for her custom Doggy Cu s. She designs cu s for dogs of all breeds, and sizes, including cats.

Some of her dog models include Bronte the Standard Poodle, Biggie the Pug, Cardi the Bulldog, and all the fashion models in the Frenchie world.

I became obsessed with dog cu s after I saw Dali Couture’s ad in the November issue of DOGUE! Her majestic whippet was wearing a beautiful beige coat with a matching velvet cu with a single ruby-colored stone in the middle. It was exactly what the Frenchie pawshionista community was missing! And I was instantly inspired!

I believe that jewelry is everything. I’ve always read in fashion magazines and heard designers and celebrities say, it doesn’t matter if you’re wearing sweats as long as you have a nice handbag, shoes and jewelry. So when I put an outfit together for my dogs’ photoshoots, it’s the same mentality. The clothes are always secondary to the accessories I’ll use." .

Shannon also designed the Chanel inspired necklace and cu s for Bella, that she is wearing on the cover of this issue.

GGCREW the Geweler, and Frenchconn are releasing a new Ti any collab collection launching on May 27th on Frenchconn's Instagram page. And, we've got the first glimpse of that collection!

Easter This month, we wanted to create a Glamurous Easter, and we knew that no one could do it better than Bella. Bella’s glamour caught our eye since the beginning, when we started @coverdogs. She’s actually one of the first models that we ever featured on our page. So we reached out to Bella’s mom, Tashania, who is also the designer of Guccella, and Shannon, the GGCREW GERWELER, to create a one of a kind Easter Glam look with Bella. We also sat down with Tashania to learn more about her dog model, and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that Bella actually came into her life during Easter!

Why Shih Tzu? "When I was a teen, I remember going to my aunt’s house, and meeting her Shih Tzu. Everyone was sitting around the living room and the pup was looking for a spot to sit, and ended up sitting right by me which was a very special moment. Ever since then, I fell in love with Shih Tzus; their little flat faces, big round eyes and nose reminds me of Gizmo."

How did Bella come into your life?

“Bella actually came into our lives unexpectedly when we visited my sister in Georgia for Easter. We went to a flea market and saw her there. It was love at first sight, for me, but we were hesitant to get her, at first, only because our building didn’t allow pets. So, after careful consideration, my husband and I decided to get her, anyway, even if it meant hiding her from the landlord, for about a year. It was well worth the risk!”

Puppies What inspired you to start an Instagram page for Bella?

“I started her Instagram in 2015. I realized that Instagram was a very dog friendly community, with lots of people who love to spoil, and dress their fur babies. And, I was definately one of those people! I started sharing photos of Bella, and my sister’s fur babies, hence the name Furry Cousins”.

When did you start Guccella and what inspired the decision to start your own brand?

"Becoming a fashion designer was always my dream! I started sewing around the age of 8 with a hand needle using the fabric scraps my mom would give me. I would create outfits for my 4” tall doll that I still have. In my teens, I was making clothes for myself, my sister, and friends.

And, then Bella inspired me to create clothes for her. “Guccella” is the name that combines my first 2 fur babies: Bella, and Gucci."

Today, Bella is someone we would consider a Super Model. She has been featured on DOGUE several times, and was also our very first Bazbark Cover! Bella is not only the face of Guccella and House of Pawshion, she's also an ambassador to many brands, including "The Dogs of Instagram". She has been called to promote the “Best in Doge” award show, hosted by Jane Lynch, and was featured on Buzzfeed in their “36 Dogs from Instagram that are living their best lives”. Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend [Gentlemen Prefer Blondes]

The Custom Styles of GUCCELLA Our Cover Girl, Bella, is not only a fashion model, she is also the inspiration behind the custom dog brand: Guccella. We sat down with Tashania Matos to learn more about her passion project.

How Did Guccella get started?

"Becoming a fashion designer has always been my dream. I started sewing at a young age, with a hand needle, using the fabric scraps that my mom would give me. When I got Bella, I began designing custom outfits for her, and others started noticing. I remember one of my IG friends, Missy @fluffpuffcrew, asked me where I was getting my clothes from, and that’s when I decided to start my own shop."

Why Guccella?

"When it came down to the name, I wanted something that would combine Bella’s and Gucci’s names. This was before Versace joined our family.

My sister was actually the one who came up with the name Guccella which I love."

From Hair Bows to Custom Outfits "At first, I started by creating simple hair bows and headpieces to match Bella’s outfits. And, then, another one of my IG friends @1996barncoco commissioned a bunch of custom bows for her project “the Magic Gardens of Mr B”. Those bows were sent to many different dog models, all over the world, which helped create a new awareness for my brand. Shortly after that, I got my first order for a full outfit, which included a cupcake purse!"

"I remember thinking: I can’t do that! I was just learning how to make dog clothes, at the time, and all I knew were the basics. I was about to say “no” when my husband came to the rescue. He told me that I should never limit myself, and that I shouldn’t say no without trying it, first. So, I did try, and eventually I figured it out!

This mentality is something I kept ever since, which allowed me to create things that I never thought I could.

I basically went from creating simple hair bows to creating full on outfits, and costumes. And, it’s been a learn as you go process, ever since."

What is your bigger mission?

"I want everyone to have that perfect outfit because I know exactly how special it feels. My mom would design custom outfits for me, which created memories that I will always cherish. It makes me happy to create custom pieces for my clients, and give them that special memory with their fur babies. I guess, you can even say that I’m living out my dream! I never thought that I’d be creating fashion for pets, but here I am, and I love it!"

Breed Highlight: Shi Tz 76

The History of Lion Dogs They say that when you own a Shih Tzu, you own a little bit of Chinese history, and that's because the breed was developed centuries ago, by the breeders in the palace of the Chinese emperor.

Shih Tzu means the “lion dog” but there’s nothing fierce about this dog breed. It is a cross between two older Sino-Tibetan breeds: the Lhaso Apso and the Pekingese.

For hundreds of years, Shih Tzu lived the life of royal lap warmers and were pampered by emperors and their families. The breed remained hidden behind palace walls, virtually unknown to the outside world, until the 1930s.

First classified as Apsos, it eventually becoming a breed of its own with the formation of the Shih Tzu Kennel Club of England in 1935. The breed clubs in Peking and England further refined the breed, and in 1969 the Shih Tzu officially entered the AKC Stud Book. Since then, the Shih Tzu has been one of the most popular toy dogs in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

Shih Tzus are not only charming, they also treat their owners like royalty. In recent years, pet parents have started taking Shih Tzus off their laps and into dog sports, training them for obedience, rally, and agility competitions.

Owners as diverse as Queen Elizabeth II and Miley Cyrus have succumbed to the Shih Tzu’s exotic charms. And, can you blame them?
