6.1. Types of lines Continuous thick line Edge of the object
Continuous thin line Dimensions of the object
Dashed line
Dash-dot line
Hidden edges
Axis of an object
6.2. Dimensions
Acotaci贸n
To dimension is to indicate the long measurements of an object.
The measurement are placed around the drawing, so we can read them easily.
How to draw the dimensions 1. Draw the auxiliary line that indicates the edge that we want to measure.
2. Draw parallels to the edges of the figure. The end of this line will be an arrow.
3. Write dimension: Number shows the real measurement
Elements to dimension Auxiliary dimension line It shows the measurements from one line to the other.
Dimension line A line parallel to the edge we want to measure
Dimension
Number that shows the real measurement of the object
Symbols at the edge of the dimension line Arrows, sloping lines or dots

Rules to dimension 1
Dimension lines must be parallel to the edge we want to measure
2 Dimension lines must be placed outside the drawing (separate 8 mm )
3
Dimension lines should never be cut
4
5
Dimension lines can not coincide with other lines
Don´t repeat dimensions
6.a Dimensions (numbers) are placed above the dimension line, if it is horizontal
6.b Numbers are placed to the right of the dimension line and rotated 90Âş , if it is vertical
