A FOCUS ON THE FUTURE OF OUR OCEANS

It started with a new engine in the early 80’s, and has continued to be a close relationship between the Statsraad Lehmkuhl Foundation and Kongsberg Maritime. Services, parts and innovative equipment has resulted in the world’s most environmentally friendly sailing ship.

Today the ship features power, energy management, navigation and communication systems from Kongsberg. She’s also equipped with a brand-new innovation - a hybrid generator, which works by running the propeller bacwards while the ship is under sail, providing enough power to recharge the 370 kwh battery bank.

This means that the ship can sail for weeks at a time without using engines, significally reducing emissions, energy consumption and noise.

One Ocean expedition - supplying the science

With a purpose to create awareness and knowledge of our oceans, the One Ocean expedition has been equiped with our EK80 scientific echosounder. It quantifies and monitors the underwater echosystems unlocking greater insight. Our meteorological sensors supports their journey with improved weather forecasting at sea.
