XAI-YI BAO Delightful public clothes drying yard using experience Responsibilities: Layout Design / 3D Modeling
2
Projects
Scenario In Asian countries, most people tend to dry their clothes by hanging on a balcony exposed to sufficient sunlight in four seasons. But people who live in a dorm for school or large scale company that use public laundry space often,
3
they might concern problems like cloth stealing, peeping prevention. Also, low efficient space usage usually caused by forgetting to collect cloth that has been dried.

BAGO Unstressful shopping experience without the hard sell Responsibilities: User Research / Ideation / Video Production
10
Projects
Scenario Shopping is a recreation to many. However, a salesperson that gives the hard sell often stress the customer out.
11
Interview We made 6 interviews to not only customer but also shopkeeper to find out how do they think when it comes to “hard sell”.
Customer
Shopkeeper
“I feel much more pressure if the salesman keeps standing by me.”
“We could tell whether it’s good timing to give a sell to customers based on their behaviour like wearing a headset or a mask.”
12
Projects
“A Fake Phone Call” Our team came up with an idea that we found people won’t be bothered generally if they’re talking on the phone. Such an invisible protection shield might be an effective way to reject a hard sell from a salesman.
13
Street Experiment We want to know whether our device can help those who are too shy to refuse the hard shell escape the awkward situation of being stuck with a salesperson.
When our participant is being given the hard sell, he will send out a SOS message. Then our team will make a call to his cellphone and create a “ protection shield between him and the salesperson.

BAGO “Badge” + “Go” An unapparent badge connected to your phone could let you escape from the hard sell by making a fake phone call.

Talk to the voice which has recorded in advance, make you look like you’re actually chat to someone.
Salesperson leaves, customers could enjoy their shopping
15
Recorded Dialogue Contents When customer is under different circumstance, they could tap BAGO in different times then BAGO will present corresponding dialogue to customer.
“How’s the weather today?” “Do you wanna have dinner with me?” “What are you doing now?”
Tap once Cost low attention, let user decided length of the phone call.
“Did you find that one which I’ve told you yesterday?” “What colour do they have in stock?”
Tap twice Let salesperson feels you come here for your friend.
“I’ve arrived. Meet me downstair now.” “Hurry up! It’s been 10 past minutes late already.”
Tap 3 times
Customer will sound like they need to go meet your friend right now.

Think-Aloud Test, User Statistic, Competitor Analysis In think-aloud interview, we let the user say what was on their mind while they were using the original products. After, our team went to 3C market to compare the difference between Chimei’s product and other companies’.

Based on Chimei’s marketing strategy, the target user prefers Japanese brands with a style called “Zen” such as MUJI and Plus Minus 0 when they purchase a home appliance.
21
We formulated the moodboard of Zen style. Geometric appearance, low colour saturation are featured just like Japanese brands.

CFD Simulation, User Interface Test
Front Shell CFD Simulation Our definition of natural wind:
- the whole human body could be covered by the wind - less wind vortex produced We came up with various kind of front shell idea to improve the sense of wind and also to reduce windcut noise generated on the front shell. After sketch-
ing, we built 3D model and did CFD simulation test to see which could output wind that seems to be closer to our definition of natural wind.
Stepped-Control Pad Test The Stepped-Control Pad was conducted with a panel showed different kinds of button alignment. We assigned several tasks to our subjects then re-
corded the fault rate of operation and duration doing each task.

1 Refinement of Wind Vortex & Column of Wind 55cm wind vortexes laps 1/2

23
We reformed the output range of wind and column of the vortex to produce more comfortable wind to the user. The Coanda Effect is the tendency of a fluid jet to stay attached to a convex surface. It’s applied to the deflector on the front cover to enlarge the volume of wind when the wind passes through the shape of a concentric circle from layers.
121.4cm wind vortexes laps 1/3
2 Noise Reduction of Front Cover To reduce wind-cut noise from the front shell, we take the Chevron design of turbojet on Airbus as reference.
Round sawtooth is applied to deflector on the front shell. Enhance the number of air flows through both sides of the deflector to reduce wind-cut noise.
3 Step-control Panel The alignment of buttons on the control pad is designed for foot-stepped operation. Stand-using is a common way to use the electric fan in lots of responses from the interview.

“The Greatest Food Culture in Taiwan” Culture Experiencing, Eat, Interview
Living in Tainan, an antique city in southern Taiwan, our lives are surrounded by plenty of Taiwanese classic food culture such as beef soup, dried noodle, rice tube pudding etc. We chose a type of traditional Taiwanese gourmet called “Jiu Jia Tsai” as our theme of this project. In the beginning, team members head to one of the most representative Jiu Jia Tsai restaurants in Tainan named A-mei to investigate the cuisine and make access to the staff and the 3rd generation boss of Amei.
27
During the interview with the boss, we learned these Jiu Jia Tsai cuisine had been offered to deliver service for several years already. On the other hand, the boss said it’s a pity that the younger generation didn’t realize the spirit of Jiu Jia Tsai culture.

Set-up of Game Rule
Our team did some literature review through newspapers and web articles about 30-50s in Taiwan before we get started to design the board game. For example, the game rule is referred to as the events happened in those years.

looks like originally, all-white bricks, pipes, the column will be reserved, this idea is also known as industrial chic. Team member began to find enormous examples like this, discuss what’s common between these samples. Then we made a few 3D-modeling to present our ideas to Kevin.
We ideated 4 different floor plans. When it comes to the style of the interior, Kevin wants to keep how it

Other Works
Office I
The sidelong wood structured below rooftop could be considered as extra height view make people fantasize more. We choose white brick which has been constructed originally as the texture of the wall to express industrial style.
The wooden desk beside the brick wall on the left side of this picture could be used for short-term employee or internship. The light bulb is hidden back to the stone-surface cabinets.
Office II
Let’s take a look inside the container office, yellow, let people feel higher motivate and inspired, is chosen as key visual to make staffs feel happier during working all day long especially for art related institution like
39
Charnwood Arts. A large wooden flat surface is still be used to express industrial chic.
Conference Room I
The conference room is surrounded with a whole glass wall which not only could be the most important visual element to attract client at the first glimpse but also enough for daylight to come through the confer-
ence room inside. Don’t worry about the privacy, high percentage of frost glass is used on the height criteria of average human activity.
Conference Room II
In this version, the whole glass surrounding is also be used to maintain enough daylight come inside. Besides, three sides of container built by the large window could make a 270 degrees great view through the whole building. One of the main difference be-
tween other lighting ideas in office and 1st meeting room is that we try to put light bulb to make this conference room more like retro style which is also an important part of industrial chic furniture.
