Brief to the judges: The objective of the Asian Print Awards and the Asian Packaging Excellence Awards is “to raise the standard and promote the achievements in excellence of Asian Printing and packaging industires.�

However, there will be occasions where because of the variations in the aspects of (whether) creative, budget or degree of difficulty of the entries within a category, more than one award would be appropriate.

Overview of Asian Packaging Excellence Awards 2019 The packaging industry just keeps growing and expanding across Asia. Companies are buying new equipment at a rate not seen for many years - and we’re talking companies spending millions upon millions of dollars here. With this comes an increase and refinement in packaging quality across all areas and all processes, be it Gravure, Flexo, Converting, Prepress, Finishing, etc. It’s good to see that we are realising good equipment produces good quality jobs and will, in the long run, win you more customers.

With this in mind, we spent four days recently in Singapore sorting and judging hundreds upon hundreds of entries for this year’s competition. They came from every country in the region that the awards are open to, so our reach and penetration here has created an awards competition like no other. Keep this thought in mind…

Gold, versus a Silver. It’s that simple. Therefore, for next year’s competition(the Awards Gala dinner will be held in Vietnam along with the 18th Asian Packaging Conference), I would like to ask each of you to just take a step back and scrutinise your entry one last time before submitting. You really are dealing with professional judges and they, in my view, do not miss a thing. Take nothing for granted, please.

So let’s recap. The judges are true industry professionals, they drill down on the littlest issue.

This is the biggest event to date. The quality has only continued to increase.

The smallest issue can and will mean the difference between Gold Silver and Bronze. Take that extra minute to look at the job/s.

For the record: we are NOT supplier-driven. Any packaging company has the right to enter, no matter the equipment used to produce the work that we judge. It’s the most transparent process. To top this off, our Judges are not suppliers, but industry people who represent all areas of production. You can imagine how truly fascinating the discussion can get as they talk about how this or that job was produced, why one entry should go through the next level, and why another unfortunately did not make the cut.

From 8th to 9th May we are meeting here in New Delhi for the 17th Asian Packaging Conference, SHIFT_019. We follow that with the Asian Packaging Excellence Awards Gala Dinner on the 9th to end the event on a high. To everyone who won an award, whatever colour it is, congratulations, you beat hundreds of others to head up to the stage to collect your award. Let the mind set of “Quality Beats All” be the number 1 driving force for your business. You won’t lose – you will not only win awards but win CUSTOMERS.
