Dear Registrar THE CENTRAL APPLICATION CLEARING HOUSE 2023 This letter serves to inform the Registrars, that the Central Application Clearing House (CACH) signup service, known as CACH2023 will run from 25 January 2023, - five days after the release of NSC results (20 January 2023) until the end of April 2023. CACH 2023 will continue to operate as a referral system for unsuccessful applicants. Furthermore, Registrars are kindly requested to assist in ensuring that CACH2023 is effectively implemented. CACH 2023 will provide unsuccessful applicants with referral to career development services and where possible, an opportunity to access spaces still available within the PSET system at universities, TVET colleges or in SETA learnerships, without having to travel to institutions to try and find a space. It also works to ensure that students do not become victims of bogus institutions. The CACH service presents the opportunity to simplify the process to take advantage of available opportunities in the PSET sector. By using the CACH service, students will avoid crowding at institutions. During 2023 the CACH service requires that all unsuccessful applicants from schools not participating in the CAS pilot to sign up (register and capture their details including the field of study and programme choice) and accept or reject offers on the CACH system. The unsuccessful applicants participating in the CAS Pilot are automatically loaded on the CACH system. All institutions are also requested to inform unsuccessful applicants that they should sign-up with CACH for referral services to increase their chances of finding a space at an alternate PSET institution or receiving a referral to career advice. CACH will only refer unsuccessful applicants to other PSET institutions once they have signed up. The unsuccessful applicants should sign up online at cach.cas.ac.za. As in the past years, all Universities and Colleges, as well as SETAs for the purposes of Workplace Based Learning will be given direct access to the CACH database via the website (self-service portal). Applicant information drawn from the CACH must be treated with the same level of confidentiality as that of your direct applicants. The Registrar is responsible for ensuring that all staff entrusted with access to the system respects this requirement. We kindly request each institution to nominate an individual who will act as a direct liaison officer between the Department and the Institution as well as a superuser of the system. The details of the nominee must be completed on the attached system access form and forwarded to mpahlwa.n@dhet.gov.za on or before 15th December 2022. This person will be given the credentials (login name and password for self-service) to be used to access the CACH portal to retrieve the application information. The Department is keen to monitor the effectiveness of the Clearing House, and at the end of the placement, will assess the impact of CACH through total offers and successful placements.
