NT Jikwa embraces the drama and leads the CPUT Drama Society to national stages
The CPUT Performing Arts Society is an extramural activity that was formed in 2012 by CPUT artistic students that produced trained and disciplined performers within the music, drama, poetry and dance industry. Some of these students not only performed at the National Arts Festival but have also worked in pre-production at the festival and some in the biggest stages like the SAFTAs.
In 2022 we were invited to a festival called Suidoosterfess at the Artscape Theatre for a theatre production called My Society that has been running since October 2021. The show went on to record visuals for The National Arts Festival and the recording has been posted on YouTube under the CPUT Performing Arts Society page for everyone to stream. Independently, I referred a few society members who succeeded in the audition process for a short film by Cumi Media and that is my biggest highlight among many.
It was an honour and great experience for my show to be performed at one of the most epic festivals Cape Town has to offer, Suidoosterfees. My Society has been receiving good comments from the public as some would say “It is very relatable” and the video is aesthetically pleasing to the viewers.
