Professionals with work experience who wish to obtain a formal qualification can apply for access to the programme based on the RPL process. The RPL process takes into consideration previous qualifications, a minimum of 5 years of administrative or managerial work experience, as well as additional knowledge and skills obtained.

CPUT policy states that all applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements for admission. Applicants who have a 60% aggregate of an appropriate Advanced Diploma, BTech or equivalent qualification as approved by SAQA, will be able to enrol for the Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Information Administration. Students who come from other institutions who might have achieved a high composite score to access the Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Information Administration, but might not have had the requisite subjects or full subject content for certain subjects, would be offered mentorship to support them in their attempts to achieve academic success. CPUT is committed to equality of opportunity, and admission is therefore open to all eligible applicants, in alignment with the institutional enrolment targets.

Applicants should have an aggregate of 60% for the completed qualification of an Advanced Diploma in Business and Information Administration or other preHEQSF BTech in Office Management and Technology comprising a minimum of 120 SAQA credits or any other cognate BTech, Bachelors or Advanced Diploma in Business Administration or Information Management at SAQA Level 7, and preferably have working experience.
