Before using any AI for your learning, and consider the following: STOP

Am I allowed to use AI in class?

What does my subject guide say?

I can use AI if

My lecturer allows it and it’s explained in the subject guide

AI will enhance my learning experience

I can identify the appropriate AI tool or platform for this purpose

I fully understand and follow the “PROMPT’ and ‘EDIT’ guidelines

I know how to reference the AI output

I am willing to show the prompt that I used to generate my output

I can validate the AI output with established knowledge

I should NOT use AI if

My lecturer does not allow its use for this class

I want AI to write an assignment for me

I am not yet comfortable writing effective prompts using the ‘PROMPTS’ and ‘EDIT’ guidelines

I do not yet know how to reference the AI output

I have not read CPUT’s Plagiarism Policy

I cannot identify misinformation and fabricated AI output

I am not prepared to show the prompts I used
