KNOW THE TEAM Maggie and her husband live in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs with a multitude of pets that keep them on their toes. Maggie has set up a bright, quiet home office in her spare room and has discovered some advantages to working from home, as she explains. “To be frank, the initial idea of working remotely seemed overwhelming. My main concern was being able to continue providing the level of support our clients deserve and come to expect from me.’ “Fortunately, I have found from this experience I have gotten to know my clients on another level. I think when we all go through the same unfortunate circumstances together, we as people tend to come together and relationships are strengthened.’ “Overall, I am grateful that my job allows me to continue working and the transition was smoother than I had anticipated. Justin and his fiancé live in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne with an energetic toddler and pug that are often a highlight of the Crabtrees team weekly Zoom catch ups and make for very entertaining “work colleagues”. Ever the professional and extremely orderly, Justin has set up a quiet space in his home with a triple monitor configuration which he has found to be his saviour with the increased online activities and communication that is required with working from home. “Whilst I do miss the face to face camaraderie with the Crabtrees team, working from home means I get to have lunches with my family and go for walks that I would normally miss out on commuting home from work.’ “I understand how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to continue working, albeit remotely, when I see the frustration firsthand from many Tenants and Landlords trying to navigate uncharted waters, keeping businesses afloat.’ “It is crucial for me as their Property Manager to have my ear to the ground and be as up to date as possible with the latest legislation and restrictions for the different industries. At the end of the day it’s all about reaching an outcome which reasonably supports both Landlords and Tenants until a time when things can return to some form of normal.” JUSTIN MUCHA, PROPERTY MANAGER
KNOW THE TEAM Amanda and her partner recently purchased a home and were fortunate enough to move in between lock downs but that did not come without its own challenges with restricted movement and business activities throughout Melbourne and the need to work from home. But Amanda has embraced this opportunity and has invested quite some time setting herself up a functional home office with a desk, dual screens, monitor mount and dock, which she found has greatly increased her ability to maintain focus, and work both more comfortably and efficiently, though she does miss the office coffee machine and team banter in the communal kitchen. “I’ve found that no two alike businesses are experiencing the same level of impact or indeed are responding the same. This has meant that I’ve had to take this on board when undertaking every aspect of my role; from rent relief to new tenancies, lease renewals and ongoing regulatory compliance.
