Eco Council:
We are extremely proud to announce that St Teresa has just been awarded the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag Award in recognition of the environmental work that has taken place over the course of the past academic year. Climate Change and sustainability is without a doubt the most important issue that our students’ generation will have to face, and we strongly believe that it is our duty to raise awareness of the impact of the climate crisis through our curriculum as well as extra curricular activities.
Year 3—Stone Age Day
The girls had a wonderful time on Wednesday both in the classroom and at Forest School, completing some stone age tasks and team building activities. They made fabulous clay necklaces before lunch in the classrooms and after lunch they had fun completing the Stone Age Day Forest School Carousel. Activities included leaf bandanas, marshmallows, den building and starting a fire using a fire starter and cotton wool. It was a busy afternoon!
To begin their ‘Frozen Kindgom’ topic, Year 6 had a fantastic day investigating life in a polar climate. They learnt about the adaptations of different polar animals and how a layer of blubber can insulate you from the cold. The girls also made their own mountains out of plasticine and used oobleck to demonstrate glacial flow.

I have been talking to the girls about instruments that they are learning and instruments they might like to learn. We encourage all girls to learn an instrument and we do currently have spaces for private lessons, so please let me know if I can help or if you have any queries about instrumental/singing lessons.
Mrs Claire Harris
I have been so impressed with the enthusiasm and energy the girls have brought to the music department this week. It has been wonderful getting to know them and I am looking forward to more music making together.
We celebrate music at St Teresa’s and there will be plenty of performance opportunities for the girls during the year. I will keep in contact with the peripatetic teachers who will let me know about any girls who have are ready to perform. If your daughter learns an instrument out of school, please do let me know if they have any pieces ready it does not matter if they learn inside or outside of school, all girls should have the opportunity to share the results of their hard work!

This Week
This was not the week for which we had prepared. Usually we begin Chapel in the first week of this term with thoughts of the year ahead. Instead, as we observe a week of mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we instead reflected on how and why we mourn and show our sadness at these moments when a loved and much respected person dies. The indications of this period of mourning are all around us. We have seen many making floral tributes. Many events, including sports fixtures, have been cancelled and we are hearing how shops will close out of respect for the Queen. Colour, of course, is important. Even our own school logos have adjusted. Flags are at half mast and many thousands have travelled to personally show express their condolences. Everyone is encouraged, in whatever way they are able, to mark this time of mourning, both for the Queen, and for all those whom we mourn, that they may, as we always pray, Rest In Peace.

The NSEA team have been doing an amazing job over the summer and are already preparing for the 2022 23 competition year!
After a very hot summer, we finally have the classic English weather and a lot of rain! Because of this the grass has grown back really quickly and the horses are loving it!
Lessons run from: Tuesday 20th September to Saturday 15th October
Adhoc / Catch up lessons w/c 12th December
The staff have put in a lot of work to paint the stables and it really shows! Hopefully the ponies won’t get it too dirty before the Open Day where there will be lots of visitors!

Equestrian”
We hope that you all have had a lovely summer holiday and a great week back at school! We have had some changes to our ponies over the summer. Diesel has left the school and found a lovely new home, and Tango is at a loan home and is being his usually cheeky self and having fun! We also had to say goodbye to the amazing Twinkle, he will be dearly missed.
There will be more changes to the ponies over the next few months while we look for new members to join our team. All ponies go through a ‘trial period’ for us to decide whether they will be happy here and whether our rider will like them! Our fingers are crossed that we will have new friends to join us before the new year!
Booking System
The Summer Holidays have been a busy time for the equestrian team! At the start of the holidays the horses had a well deserved holiday while some of the NSEA riders had a riding camp! There were then a lot of Pony Days and riding lessons which is great fun.
