Message from Mrs Conrad This week in assembly we looked at beautiful works of art from across the world. We discussed how much we like to do art – how carefully we plan it and how proud we feel when it is completed. We then reflected on one of the lines from last Sunday’s scripture readings, “You are God’s work of art; you are His masterpiece”. What an amazing thing to know! We all have many gifts and talents, we are unique, we are loved and God is really proud of us. This is such an important message for our girls to remember in a world where they are bombarded with messages and criticism of how they look and behave. So if you are having a bad hair day just remember – you are God’s work of art!

Good Work! Year 4—Sounds In Science this week, we have been investigating amplitude of sounds and even made our own fully functioning string telephones. We also planned and carried out an investigation testing different materials to see what the best material for sound proofing would be. Using this knowledge, the girls then designed their own noise cancelling

Year 1– French This week, Year 1 had fun labeling and learning the names of the parts of their bodies in French.

Year 1—Art This week, the Year 1’s had a look at some paintings created by an Artist called Piet Mondrian. Mondrian was a Dutch artist who enjoyed painting using the primary colours to create abstract pictures. The girls reminded themselves of the primary colours, and had the chance to make their very own Mondrian style collages. They were brilliant!

This Week It is hard for us to imagine what it must have been like for Jesus as he approached the events of Holy Week. When we remember that he experienced all the same emotions and feelings that we have - but without sinning—we can recognise that the anticipation of this final week, and his execution by the authorities, must have filled him with terror. Yet, as was evident, as he hung on the cross, His thoughts were not for himself, but rather for those who were with him. So, at the Last Supper, he gives the words of reassurance, ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house, and I go to prepare a place for you.’ Even at the time of his greatest trial, he wishes to reassure his followers that his actions are for their salvation. And we should recall these words at those times when we face the greatest difficulties and greatest moments of sadness in our lives - yes, even when we face the death of a loved one. Jesus knew the sadness of the death of a friend. In the shortest verse in the Bible (John 11:35) we hear ‘Jesus wept’ when we heard the news. Yet in that sadness, he knew of the power of God to overcome event those moments when we ‘walk through the valley as dark as death. (Psalm 23:4) Indeed, this was the path that Jesus walked as he submitted to death, death on a cross. But by entering in to the very depths of human existence, and confronting that real horror, he overcame death. And through that death, gave us, and our loved ones, the sure hope life with him in those heavenly rooms he has prepared for us.
