23rd November 2020
Message from Mrs Conrad I trust that you are all keeping well during this challenging time. The staff and girls at St Teresa’s continue to display great positivity and resilience in this ever changing climate and I am immensely grateful to them for carrying on with business as usual, always with a smile on their faces. Unfortunately, we were required to close the Year 6 bubble yesterday which was a great disappointment to us all but we look forward to welcoming them back in December for all the Christmas festivities we have planned – they certainly won’t miss out! Speaking of not missing out, FOST have been hard at work to ensure that we can all experience the School Christmas Fair, albeit virtually. There are wonderful raffle prizes and shopping experiences and the children can enjoy the usual fun and games, brought to life via the Virtual Advent Calendar. FOST have also kindly organised a little gift for each of the girls. These will be given out next week and Year 6 will receive theirs when they are back in school. In a week where the news of a vaccine has filled us with hope for a brighter tomorrow, I am reminded of the words of Pope Francis who says: Life is often a desert, it is difficult to walk, but if we trust in God, it can become beautiful and wide as a highway Never lose hope; continue to believe, always, in spite of everything. Hope opens new horizons, making us capable of dreaming what is not even imaginable. Let us keep the Pope’s words in mind as we look beyond the desert and lift our eyes to the horizon.
Message For Year 6 Parents If you wish to accept the place for your daughter to join the Senior School in September 2021 please return your completed Form of Acceptance to Mrs Charles as soon as possible, but no later than Monday 7th December 2020 in order to guarantee the place.
Gentle Reminder Please could we gently remind all families not to meet up or organise parties and playdates, even within your daughter’s bubble. This is because additional family members are not within this bubble and it increases the risk of infection and subsequent bubble closures. Thank you for working in partnership with us to keep the school as safe as possible.
Christmas Jumpers—Friday 11th December We would like to invite the children to wear a ‘Christmas jumper’ with their school uniforms (if they would like to) on Friday 11th December. This is the last day of term, so it should help us all to get into the festive spirit!
Christmas Post Box We will be running a Christmas post service for the children from 1st December. If they would like to send cards to their friends please may this be within their bubbles only. They should write the name of the recipient clearly on the front of the envelope. The post boxes will be in the girls’ classrooms.
Years 3 to 6 Carol Service Invitation—10th December The Headteacher, staff and pupils have great pleasure in inviting you to our virtual Carol Service on Thursday 10th December at 2.15pm. We will record the service for any parents who are unable to watch at this time.

Inspirational Sports Woman of the Week by Tabby Herman This weeks inspirational woman is athlete called Katrina Johnsen Thompson. Her main events are the heptathlon, the pentathlon and high jump. She won a gold medal at the world championships 2019 for the heptathlon. Her mother was a former dancer from Liverpool. As a child, she went to Saint Mark’s Catholic Primary School where she decided she wanted to become an athlete. One of her quotes is “ everything happens for a reason, I am a believer of that for sure”.
Pupil News Layla (Year 5) has been working hard on her dance routine and was able to send us a video of her dance. Well done Layla. Guildford City Swimming Club ran club awards and Emily (Year 6) received an award for Top Swimmer in Junior County. Well done Emily!
This Week In Chapel this week we reflected on the virtues of those who will be given a place in God’s heavenly kingdom. Jesus makes it simple:
As a school we are responding to this challenge through out Advent Project, supporting, once again, Operation Christmas Child. This wonderful project delivers Christmas gifts to children around the world who would otherwise have none. We are particularly pleased that this project is being organised for our school by Pip and Leah in Year 12 who were determined to get it off the ground and who have spoken to the whole school this week, inspiring them to get involved. We are aware that we must maintain our Covid prevention strategies, so we are suggesting that the items for the box be added to your weekly shopping list. Details of how to fill your box are available here. Specific suggestions are also available here. We are encouraging the girls to pack a box for their own age group. Please send your completed box, with the ÂŁ5 donation or the packing code to school by Wednesday, 9th December. Thank you for your support!

On Thursday 12th November we received another update from our governing bodies to state that riding schools cannot deliver lessons unless these form part of the core curriculum of formal education. Unfortunately this means that we have had to cancel the lessons that are not included as part of a GCSE or A-Level curriculum. We look forward to seeing everyone again in December for any ad hoc lessons or during the Christmas holidays.
For those who are not able to ride, we have a list of all their missed lessons during this time which can be used towards bookings made in December and/or will be credited towards the Spring Term riding fees.
Christmas Pony Afternoons For those who have booked in, or are thinking about booking in for the Christmas Holidays, please bring your own hat and boots to ride in as we are not lending out equipment until it is deemed safe to do so.
Reminder on dates! Adhoc lessons: w/c Monday 7th December Spring Term Riding starts on: Monday 11th January
NSEA Reports Unfortunately all competitions have been cancelled for the duration of the lockdown. We look forward to seeing the team back out in action in December!
