Message from Mrs Conrad

Last Saturday, we welcomed over 250 people to St Teresa’s for our annual September Open Morning. There was a wonderful buzz across the site and visitors were hugely impressed with the exciting lessons they saw; many signed up for places straight away! A special thank you must go to our Year 6 tour guides who were superb ambassadors for the school and to FOST who served refreshments and spoke about the school from a parental perspective. Our Value of ‘Community’ was very much in evidence and we look forward to celebrating all that is special about our school at our Feast Day Mass next Friday. All are welcome!

Year 4—The Dot

Year 4 have read a book called The Dot this term. The story is all about the idea that what we achieve may look different to others, but it is an achievement none the less. Following Vashti's example in the story, the girls all began with a simple 'dot' on their paper, and let their creativity take over!

Year 3—Stone Age Virtual Reality

Year 3 had an exciting time visiting the Stone Age period using Virtual Reality headsets. Amongst others, the girls saw Avery Long Barrow, The Ring of Brodgar a hand axe and had a virtual tour of Stonehenge narrated by the historian, Dan Snow. The girls thoroughly enjoyed their experience and were amazed by the sheer size of some of the henges and many questions followed the lesson!

Year 5—Science

The girls in Year 5 are learning about air resistance in Science. They made parachutes of varying sizes and used stop watches to time them falling from the balcony. They discovered that the larger parachutes descended more slowly and therefore have the most air resistance.

This Week

As the new year begins, we are used to teachers setting out their expectations for the year and explaining what is most important in their area. And in Chapel this week we thought about the same idea for our lives. What are the most important things to remember?

No one likes being asked a trick question yet that is exactly what happened to Jesus (Matthew 22:34 When asked what is the greatest commandment, Jesus accurately answers with the TWO great commandments firstly, to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength” and then, no less important, to “love your neighbour as yourself.”

It is no wonder that love of God is so central. The God, who is love, lavishes his blessings upon us through the beauty of creation, through the gifts and talents we have been given, through our family and school, and in countless other ways. Every experience of genuine love is an experience of God, and we are hardwired to love in return.

Yet that love can never exist in isolation. Once we have experienced love, we are compelled to share that love with others, to reach out to those around us and to share that love with them. In the first instance this would be to our family, but in time we realise that we are compelled to share all the graces and blessings that we have received with those we meet, to be the face of God to others and to recognise in them the presence of God.

And perhaps we should also remember that none of this depends on how we feel about ourselves. Whatever we think, whatever we think about ourselves, whatever we have done, we are precious in the eyes of God. Nothing that we or anyone else does to us can ever stop God loving us and reaching out to us in love. Have a good year!!

We are so pleased to have started our riding lessons for the term! We hope that you have all had as good a week as we have!

As the weather is so variable at the moment, please make sure that you come with a jumper (no hoodies!) and/or a coat to where when it’s chilly out. As we are on top of a hill, we get a bit of a cold wind when riding in the arena!

A reminder that if you wish to cancel a lesson, we do require 48hrs notice or more in order to offer credit. Any later and we are unable to fill the slot with a rider for a catch up lesson or off the waitlist.
