Summer Term

29th April 2022

Message from Mrs Conrad This week, our new library was installed with new bespoke shelving and seating. The new design was a culmination of creative ideas from our library design company and the girls' feedback through the School Council. The sophisticated final outcome is in a colourway of teals and greens and has been greeted with many "oohs" and "aahs" over the last few days. Please do feel free to drop by when you are next in school. Yesterday, many of our string players had the incredible experience of attending a string workshop led by the world famous violinist, Nicola Benedetti. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity really inspired the girls and has hopefully given them great aspirations for the future. Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Easter. May the peace and joy of the risen Christ be with us all as we journey together through the next few months.

This Week It was a joy this week to join together, after the long 40 days of Lent and the recent holiday, to celebrate the great feast of Easter as we sang the great hymn of praise ‘Alleluia!’ This word, more than any other, encapsulates the joyful expression of the message of the Good News of the Resurrection. Over the coming weeks we will reflect on four individuals who experienced that joy face to face - four individuals who actually met with the Risen Christ. This week we recalled the experience of Mary of Magdala (John 20). Mary, one of the most devout followers of Jesus, had been one of the few who had stayed with him throughout Good Friday and stood at the foot of the cross as he was so cruelly put to death, and who saw him buried in the rock tomb. We can only imagine how she had felt when she arrived at the tomb in the early hours of the morning while it was still dark to find the stone rolled away and the tomb empty, only to then to meet Jesus risen from the dead. While there is much to fascinate us from this passage, perhaps we can remember three things in particular. It was when Mary was at her lowest point that God intervened. We too should remember that it is often at those times in our lives, when we most need help, that God steps unexpectedly into the scene of our lives and transforms it. Mary, in the darkness of her doubt and fear, recognised Jesus when he called her name. We too should remember that God similarly calls us, his beloved children, by our names. God knows us, loves us, and wants nothing but the best for us. And then, as is always the case after being called, Mary is then sent, to be the apostle to the apostles, sharing with them the good news of the resurrection. We then, in our turn, find the greatest joy and peace when we, like Mary, respond to God’s call in our lives and respond, generously, to that call.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a lovely Easter break! My name is Libby C. As you might know I am the new Equestrian Ambassador for Years 7, 8 and 9, and I am really thrilled to be able to fulfil this role. I hope I can bring you lots of exciting updates! There have been lots of things going on at STE in the holidays. There were loads of pony and training days which everyone and the horses really enjoyed! Other big news is that the school has bought Bobby and Red! This pony of the week this week is… Mickey!

NSEA Competition Reports We have received an image of Jackson B from when he competed in the Just for Schools Competition at the David Broome Centre in Wales. Overall, he came 7th in the individual 70 Championship and had placings in the other classes! On Wednesday 13th April, two riders headed to Bury Farm to compete in the Grassroots Show Jumping. Pernille A and Jessica R did brilliantly but unfortunately missed out on the placings. Well done girls!
