Fund Raising for Cancer Research

Hi, My name is Darcy, I'm 9. My Grandma lives in Cartmel in the Lake District but as I live in Surrey I don't get to see her as much as I would like. My Grandma has a rare cancer which is a Neuroendocrine tumour and she is hoping for treatment at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. I am raising funds for Cancer Research by having my hair coloured and if you sponsor me, you get a vote to choose the colour. Teresa from Teresa Weller Hair Art will be colouring my hair in June, depending on the colour most voted for! www.justgiving.com/page/darcy-blue-rowsell-1683709248917

Explore Lectures

As you are aware, we are celebrating the value of Intellect this year. When we speak of ‘Intellect’, we strive to explore different spheres and topics beyond the curriculum

Under this guise, we have organised a fabulous series of lectures on a vast and diverse range of topics to run throughout the rest of the academic year. Our eminent and exciting speakers will aim to stimulate curiosity and encourage us all (parents, friends, family and staff) to explore something new.

The final lecture will take place on Tuesday 14th June in the Sixth Form Lecture Theatre. Nibbles and drinks will be served from 5:30pm for a 6pm start and a 7pm finish.

Year 6—FrenchTrip

The Year 6 girls had a fabulous in France before half term. The weather was glorious and the week was action packed! After a visit to the market on Tuesday, where the girls were able to practise their French while enjoying some traditional crêpes, they headed off to a Chocolate Factory, where we could see the process of creating hand made chocolates from cacao bean to chocolate ganache. Our knowledgeable coach driver, Alan, also took us to a local beach for some seal spotting and a walk along the sand. Our focus for Wednesday was The Battle of the Somme. Following our visit to the Albert Museum, we went on a tour of key sites, including the Lochnagar Crater and Thiepval War Memorial. Before heading back to dear old Blighty on Friday, we spent the day on some outdoor and adventurous activities, including paddle boarding and canoeing! The girls were fabulous ambassadors for St. Teresa's, often complimented by staff and members of the public on their excellent behaviour and good manners. It was a pleasure to take you to France, girls and we are very proud of you.

Year 4

As part of their new topic, Year 4 have been scaling great heights and learning about the tallest mountains in the world. In teams, they have created scale versions of the different peaks and placed them beside our very own Ben Nevis and Snowdon. We have even had volunteers decide that they would like to climb Everest. Best of luck intrepid explorers!

Our Year 3 ballet dancers treated us to a very special performance in assembly this week. The girls have been learning with Miss Tash from Inspire Academy of Dance as an extra-curricular activity and they delighted girls and parents alike with their enthusiasm and poise.

This Week

A week after the great feast of Pentecost, celebrated during half-term, we have the feast of the Blessed Trinity. The truth is that many people shy away from discussing, or even thinking about, the Trinity as they fear that it can tie themselves and others up in impenetrable intellectual knots.. It can be easier so way what the Trinity is rather than enter into an explanation peppered with errors.

We often call the Trinity a ‘mystery’ and we need to remember that this means, ‘something that is revealed bit by bit’ - that is, not something that remains hidden for ever. So perhaps it is worth remembering that the Trinity, was first and foremost something that God has revealed to us. For example, at Jesus’ own baptism we hear the voice of the Father, revealing Jesus as his beloved Son, with the physical manifestation of that love descending from heaven to earth with the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove.

Jesus himself declared, ‘Father, into your hands I commend my Spirit.’ Again, the Trinity there before our eyes. Indeed, Jesus final command was to ‘Go make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.’

Jesus revealed to us the very essence of God as a community of love, for that, as St John reminds us, is what God is, ‘God is love!’ St Augustine reminds us that for this to be true there must be one who loves, that is, the Father, one who is beloved, that is, the Son, and the love that they share, that is, the Spirit.

In perhaps the most famous depiction of the Trinity, the icon writer Rublev presents the Trinity seated around the sides of the table. This, of course, leaves one place free. We are invited to enter into that community of love. Perhaps, each time we begin our prayer with the Sign of the Cross, we can remember this invitation.

Please make sure that your child puts on sun cream for riding and a top that covers the shoulders. It has been very warm in the afternoons and evenings recently, and it feels even hotter when riding in the arena!

If there are any school trips or events that your daughter will be doing instead of riding, then please let the office know by phone or by email. As if you wish to cancel a lesson, we do require 48hrs notice or more in order to offer credit. Any later and we are unable to fill the slot with a rider for a catch up lesson or off the waitlist.
