Dear Parents I was delighted to see so many of you attend our recent Reception Evenings which gave my colleagues the opportunity to set out key themes. In particular, we recognise the importance of communication and we trust that you now have a clearer understanding of how we intend to support and develop our pupils across the year groups throughout the year ahead. We know that the strongest possible endorsement of what we do here comes from current parents. With that in mind, I would urge you to support us by promoting our Open Mornings which will be held on Friday and Saturday of next week. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

News from Cranmore Nursery What a brilliant summer we have just had! Cranmore Holiday Fun sessions (for children aged 2 ½ - 5 ½ years) have taken place every day, with many different fun activities. Each week the children have been out on the minibus, taking a picnic lunch. We visited Box Hill, Newlands Corner, picked sweetcorn and fed the animals at the Merrist Wood farm and went on the river in Guildford. We also enjoyed the cooler temperatures at Forest School during the heatwave, where the children built dens, climbed trees and engaged in natural crafts. Term has now started and we are already very busy painting, sticking and making our playrooms look beautiful. Toddler Group resumed last Friday and we welcome anyone with young children to come along and see what we have to offer on term-time Fridays from 2-3.15pm. Our Open Mornings are next Friday and Saturday, 9.30-11am, and we look forward to welcoming many visitors.

LP Starting School! Lower Preps have had a very busy few days settling into Cranmore. We’ve enjoyed making new friends in our classrooms and exploring our outside area. We’ve all had a visit from Madame Buckle and learnt some words in French!

Sixth Former Max received a framed scorecard of his century for Cranmore against Thomas’s Clapham last season. Well done Max – hopefully the first of many! U11 Tournament at Shrewsbury House On Saturday 8th Sept, the U11A team travelled to Shrewsbury House for their annual tournament. In a tough group, the side finished second to set up a quarter final against Danes Hill. In a closely fought match, the team won 1-0. This led to a semi-final against a strong Northcote Lodge. This time the team played their best football on a wider pitch to secure a 2- 0 victory and set up a final against the hosts. Unfortunately, Shrewsbury House proved too strong and the U11’s ended the day as Runners- Up. Congratulations on a very successful day. Mr O’Neill
