As part of our Cranmore 50th celebrations a local artist, Nathalie Beauvillain Scott, has been commissioned to paint a mural of our school on a playground wall. Work is in progress‌..here is a sneak preview.

Dear Parents I hope you had a good Easter holiday. I know the pupils who participated in our various trips - Cricket in Barbados, Skiing in Italy and Rowing in Ghent – had a marvellous time. Much has been done at Cranmore too. Whilst the Nursery Holiday Fun was in operation, we had a major refurbishment of the bridge, the installation of the Carnival of the Animals murals, the installation of new, bright lockers and further work on the large mural adjacent to the playground. I must congratulate all our pupils who did so well in the recent music exams: a detailed list is published here. We are hosting another Open Morning next Friday so please do recommend us to families that might be interested in Cranmore School. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

As we were having work done on the bridge during the holidays, including installing an anti-slip surface, it was a good opportunity to add a ‘Cranmore School’ sign—here you can see it being put in place.

Barbados Adventure Cranmore enjoyed another successful cricket tour of Barbados over the Easter holidays. The team played well throughout all of their matches, winning one and narrowly losing two. In between the cricket we had the opportunity to enjoy a catamaran cruise around the island, snorkelling with turtles and a visit to the Kensington Oval for a day-night fixture. It was a truly amazing tour with many new friendships made. My thanks to the players, supporting parents and staff for making it so memorable.

Animal Magic Everyone in the Junior Department had a big surprise this week. On Tuesday, as the children entered the building, they were greeted by our magnificent and breath-taking art installation adorning the walls in the Junior Department. The artwork is of ‘Carnival of the Animals’ by Saint-Saëns. Cranmore commissioned this artwork to add colour, creativity and flair to the department whilst acknowledging and promoting the music and arts at Cranmore. Music is at the heart of Cranmore life and this art installation is a way of demonstrating this, whilst fostering a love of music to stay with our pupils for life. Mrs Fiona Nicholson, Head of the Junior Department

Family Ski Holiday to Italy Snow, snow , snow and more snow! That was the story of our annual family ski holiday to Italy. With incredible snow everyone made great progress and enjoyed some of the challenging and exciting red and black runs. After a hard day’s skiing we relaxed with tenpin bowling, tubing and exploring Aosta in search of real Italian ice cream and a popular all-you-can-eat pizza restaurant. Mr B Martin

Holiday Fun Activities We had some very busy action-filled Holiday Fun days during the Cranmore School Easter holidays. Despite some very mixed (cold, wet and muddy) days we managed to get out and about most days. Highlights of our Holiday Fun weeks are always the trips out on the minibus, and this time we visited Hatchlands Park and Wisley Gardens. Due to the work being completed on the bridge across to the Henderson Field, our Forest School Activity Days also included a trip by minibus as it was the only way to get there! We enjoyed Easter crafts, playing with the chicks, a ‘Ready Steady Cook’ day and lots more besides; we had a record number of parents signing up their children. Booking forms for the half-term break will be out soon- do book early to save disappointment!

Open House Week Parents of those pupils who take individual instrumental or singing lessons at Cranmore are very welcome to attend their child’s lesson during the week commencing Monday 30 April. Interested parents should sign in on the sheet located in the entrance hall of the Auditorium and then go to the sign posted room. This was a very popular event with parents last year and particularly useful for those parents who may not previously have met their child’s teacher in person. A Pupil’s Guide to the Orchestra – Middle Prep only Most children start to learn an instrument at Cranmore by the time they reach the Upper Prep year group, but the question of which instrument to choose is always a tricky one. With this in mind, I will be introducing the Middle Prep children to the instruments of the Orchestra in the Auditorium on Friday 11 May at 1.30pm – 2pm. The excellent musicians in Senior Orchestra will play to the Middle Prep children, will talk about their instruments, take questions and be available at the end of the session to allow the younger pupils to hold and try their instrument. All Middle Prep parents are warmly invited to attend this session.
