Dear Parents I am sure you will wish to join me in thanking the CPA and their helpers for giving us such a wonderful Picnic in the Paddock last Saturday. On Sunday I was delighted to be presenting the medals to all the winners in the National Catholic Schools Athletics Championships. Our senior boys were outstanding and we won both the U12 and U14 competitions, a remarkable double. The RE department arranged a visit to The Life of Christ at Wintershall. We were also represented at the Good Shepherd Service at Worth Abbey. The Fathers’ Day Breakfast with our Nursery pupils was a great success, so too was their marvellous sing-a-long concert. Today is another milestone to mark our special 50th Anniversary. We shall be delighted to welcome back many former staff, including two of my predecessors. In addition, we are looking forward to welcoming a former Cranmore parent, the Rt Hon Anne Milton MP. We are also celebrating a special Mass this afternoon with Bishop Richard Moth. Yours sincerely Michael Connolly

All children in MP, UP and Form 1 participated in a very warm, but successful Sports Day on Monday. The children showed tremendous skill and determination in their races and events, earning points for their houses. Congratulations to Radford, the winning House. Thank you to parents and grandparents who came along and supported the children.

Athletics A busy few days on the track started on Saturday 16th June with a meet hosted by Donhead. This was an opportunity for our U8’s to U11’s to compete on a full sized stadium track against five other schools. It was a fantastic afternoon of competition from all age groups. There were some great results across the board and we finished 2nd overall. Tonbridge meet followed for our U11’s on a very hot afternoon. There were some good performances in all events with A Sangha taking silver in the shot. The final competition was the National Catholic Prep Schools which took place on Sunday. It was a closely contested competition, against some big schools. Cranmore performed solidly throughout the afternoon in both track and field, winning 7 gold, 16 silver and 4 bronze medals. There were some great individual performances but everyone gave their best, gaining valuable points for the team. At the end of the afternoon, we were 1st in both the U12 and U14 competitions and therefore became overall combined Boys Champions. Well done to everyone a great afternoon’s work. Thank you to all who have competed over the last two weeks, and the parents for all their support. Mrs Attree

Anna from Middle Preps takes a very pro-active approach to environmental issues. After a lesson on deforestation, she chose to write a letter to The Prime Minister in her Golden saying that there should be a law created to make sure all people have to recycle paper to help Save the Rainforests. This week she received a reply from 10 Downing Street! Anna was delighted and the letter explained that her matter had been given to the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for them to take further!

The RE department organised a trip to ‘The Life of Christ’ at Wintershall last week (above) and participated in the Celebration of the Good Shepherd at Worth (right). Pupils said about Wintershall: 'One of the best trips ever; I hope I can come next year.' 'I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot about the life of Jesus.'

Fourth Form Ramble On Friday 22nd June, the Fourth Form went on an 11-mile ramble through the Surrey Hills, raising money ‘For Jimmy’ and ‘Young Minds’. We were lucky to have beautiful weather and wonderful views. We started slowly as one minibus got lost. Once the minibus arrived, we began the long climb of Leith Hill. After reaching the summit, we came to a tower where we sat and had our first break. We went back down Leith Hill and across to Wotton Hatch where Mr Phillips picked up the members of the A cricket team who had a cup match in the afternoon. We carefully crossed the A25 and went up a steep hill towards Ranmore Common, where we had lunch in the shade and admired the view of Dorking shimmering in the afternoon heat. While we were eating, we watched a plane doing flips and loop-the-loops. On the journey in the afternoon, we passed a pupil’s house where he had kindly left a note and sweets on the gate. We finally arrived back at Cranmore the back way and saw that we had done 11 miles! James Trowbridge 4S

What a great week! On Thursday we were very happy to welcome lots of Daddies in for our annual Fathers’ Day breakfast. The children had baked banana muffins the previous day and Mr Walker and his team provided us with delicious croissants, juice and iced coffee. Nursery children had their Sports Morning with the Lower Preps and PreNursery had their own sporting event in the form of their Bug Olympics. All the children loved taking part and receiving a medal. We had our colourful Singalong too. The children looked amazing and sang beautifully. We plan to have a fun-filled and action-packed week to round off the term, and are looking forward to our Summer Holiday Fun sessions which are open to children in Lower Prep too.
