BOARDING NEWS
This Saturday the boarders enjoyed their final trip of the term in Guildford. One last opportunity for the girls to finish off some festive shopping before they head home for Christmas and to see in the New Year!
On Saturday evening the girls were delighted to be surprised with a Silent Disco Christmas Party! Along with a takeaway pizza dinner, the girls danced up a storm and belted out their favourite songs. It was the perfect opportunity to celebrate an amazing start to the year in Boarding with many giggles shared and memories made by all!
On Sunday, after a lovely Advent Mass at the local church, the girls were overcome with excitement as we watched the first sprinkling of snow settle across the school grounds. Even in the freezing temperatures the girls managed to have an absolute blast in the snow, with even one or two snow fights.
All of the Boarding Team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the St Teresa’s community a safe and wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2023, Happy Holidays!
Mrs Zoe Wragg Head of BoardingGOODBYE GAP STUDENTS
As the end of our gap year approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to thank St Teresa’s for providing us with such an amazing opportunity. It has been a privilege to work in the Boarding House this year and watch the girls blossom into such beautiful young women. We would also like to thank the entire Boarding Team who have been instrumental in making this year so memorable, you really all have gone above and beyond in creating a home away from home for us. We would particularly like to extend our gratitude to Mrs Zoe Wragg who has been not only a phenomenal Head of Boarding and Gap Supervisor but has become a cherished friend and we simply cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for us.
We both couldn’t recommend taking a gap year enough. We have been lucky enough to travel to so much of Europe this year, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
While we are so sad to close this chapter, we are so thankful for everything we are taking away from our time here and we are both so excited for our futures ahead back home in Sydney.
YEAR 9 BIOLOGY
Over the last half term Year 9s have been learning about reproduction. In order to display everything they have learned, they comprised a play in their groups to depict 'The Great Sperm Race'. They demonstrated the hostile environments sperm have to go through and how fertilisation of the egg takes place. There were prizes for the winning group but overall it was a superb effort. The girls all went above and beyond with fun and innovative ideas and they all demonstrated their key understanding of the topic. Well done Year 9!! Ms Willis

PODIUM FINISH IN ‘TOP OF THE BENCH’ CHEMISTRY COMPETION
On the evening of Tuesday 13th December, a team of enthusiastic chemists from St. Teresa’s came third in a regional heat of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench competition.
Eight other schools brought teams to Farlington School to undertake a series of practical challenges and theory problems. The combined scores of the St Teresa’s team enabled the team of Alice P, Lucie B, Gabriella DPG and Isabel C to come third in the competition. The Top of the Bench competition enthuses and excites children with chemistry and encourages them to consider further education and careers in chemistry.

YEAR 13 HISTORY TRIP TO HAMPTON COURT PALACE
I am very excited to be writing to you about a trip I am organising in the New Year to Hampton Court Palace for the Year 13 historians.
We will be exploring the palace and its grounds in order to understand the architecture of the building and Henry VIII’s intentions behind using it as his main seat of power. We will also have an opportunity to explore the kitchens of Henry VIII and how the palace was modified throughout the Georgian period.
The trip will take place on Wednesday 18th January with drop off and pick up times remaining the same. We will be returning to school in time for lunch, but the girls may wish to bring a snack with them, or money for the café in the Palace.
The total cost will be no more than £20 and will be added onto the end of term bill. If you would like your daughter to participate in this event, please click and complete the Google form below by 9am on Monday 9th January at the very latest.

However, Miss Buckett will continue to be part of St Teresa's Year 10 pastoral team going forward and will continue to support your daughter.

We hope that you have an amazing end to the term and are looking forward to the Christmas Holidays!
We’d like to wish Inde W the best of luck as she is riding at the London International Horse Show at London Excel over the next week and is sponsored by St Teresa’s School! If you are attending the event, do keep an eye out for her at the Shetland Grand National, she will be in the red colours with a white star.
If we will not be seeing you over the holidays, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and will see you in 2023 for the Spring Term!
I’m sure that you noticed it snowed this week! Temperatures went down to -4 degrees and it got a bit chilly, but the ponies have been wrapped up in their rugs to help keep them warm. Unfortunately, the weather meant that the lessons at STE were cancelled and the NSEA competition last weekend was also cancelled.
The equestrian team have been getting ready for Christmas by decorating their office, and it looks really nice!
Merry Christmas!

Libby CNSEA News
