SIXTH FORM NEWS
Hello all! I absolutely cannot believe that we have already reached the last week of the school year - it feels like only yesterday that we started back!
This week, the usual chaos and business of the last few weeks of term continued, starting with the recording of the last Intellect Dissect podcast for the academic year, last Friday. I hosted this Values Week themed episode, with the brilliant Q (Senior Prefect Values) and Sophie R (Senior Prefect Pastoral) as the special guests for this episode. We discussed the events of Values Week and the meaning behind the event itself. We had a lot of fun and cannot wait to share the link with you soon!
This Wednesday, eight Year 12s were excited to have the opportunity to attend a Mental Health First Aid conference, run by our Pastoral Head, Mrs Cawley. Our magnificent Mental Health and Wellbeing Prefect, Aleisha A, spoke about the conference: “We were educated on what contributes to mental ill health and common mental health disorders, such as depression and psychosis. We also learnt what we can do in our roles as first aiders by not diagnosing, but implementing, action plans to help those in need of assistance. We took part in plenty of interactive activities, including standing blindfolded with balloons in our mouths, with the looming threat of any one of the balloons being suddenly popped - this exercise was carried out to stimulate an anxious response to allow us to explore the symptoms of anxiety. The talk was so incredibly informative and relevant and we all really enjoyed being educated further on such important topics.”

Our wonderful Sixth Form Prefect, Poppy M, organised a lovely Sixth Form survival party for us: “On Wednesday lunchtime, the Year 12s had an end of year celebration for completing their first year of A Levels. The Sixth Form courtyard was decorated beautifully with everyone enjoying music and ice cream after Gary and his team gave us an amazing barbecue.”

And that’s it for the year!
I hope you all have a fantastic summer break, with plenty of rest, fun and sun and I look forward to writing to you again in the new school year!

This Week
As we come to the end of this academic year, we remembered God’s promise that in all we do, He will accompany us, support us and guide us in the way that will always lead to happiness and peace. God has a plan for each of us, his beloved children, a plan full of hope for our future (Jeremiah 29:11). We close our year with this beautiful reminder:
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. "Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You

We have had a fantastic year! From introducing a couple of new ponies and staff to our team, to the amazing results from the NSEA team! We are looking forward to a great fun-filled summer to come back enthused and refreshed for September!
If we do not see you over the summer holidays for any activities, then we look forward to seeing you in September when the school is back. Have a lovely Summer!
The NSEA riders did really well at the Championships last Friday!
The STE ponies will be having a week off after school finishes as their well deserved break! Over the holidays there will be Pony Days and lessons which will be fun. Have a good holiday! The horse of the week is… Red!

The day started very early for our Juniors with a 7.30am start in the Preliminary round. Great rounds from Amber B and Antonia S for four faults each. Claudia B jumped a confident round for eight faults. Last to go for the team was Jess R who jumped a brilliant clear round which gave her qualification for the International Arena later that afternoon. Lottie B was jumping as an Individual on her lovely new horse and after a miscommunication at the first fence then jumped a fab clear! Unfortunately, the team missed out on qualification for the main arena by 1 place but still finished in the top 50%!
The Senior team (U18s) were by far the youngest and on the smallest ponies, with three of our four riders still eligible for the Junior section but wanting to jump the bigger height. This didn't put them off, with some incredibly mature riding way beyond their years. Inde W and Izzy L both jumped great rounds with just a couple of small mistakes. Pernille A showed experience beyond her years and retired before the last line when her pony was full of confidence. Chloe B jumped the most beautiful round other than a miscommunication at one fence for 4 faults. So, no qualification for any of the senior team this year but they will have learnt so much and excitingly it was just their first try!
In the International Arena, Jess R was one of 6 clear rounds in the Individual section out of 30 in the first round of jumping. An unfortunate 4 faults in the jump off left her just out of the placings but it was a fantastic performance from Jess and Mandy who are still a very new combination - I think we will be seeing lots of great results from them in the future!
Very proud of how well they all rode - well done everyone!

On Friday, we had a really exciting day as 9 NSEA riders were lucky enough to head to The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead for the prestigious Hurst School Show Jumping Championships.
