It was lovely to see the parents who came to the Father’s Day Breakfast in the Nursery on Thursday and in Reception this morning. I was immensely proud of the incredible performances from the Lower Prep musicians during the Proms in the Paddock. It was a superb event that showcased and celebrated the talented pupils in front of our Cranmore community.
Over the last number of years our school has continued to grow and develop with a surge in pupil numbers. In looking towards the future, earlier this week our Chairs of Governors wrote to you to share that we would be welcoming a new school into our Trust. This change will impact Cranmore very gradually. During the next few years, it will allow us to further adapt our school and tailor the pupil experience which will continue to make Cranmore an exciting and dynamic learning environment.

Proms in the Paddock
On Thursday, the Lower Prep pupils took part in a special Proms in the Paddock to celebrate King Charles’ Coronation. The National Anthem was sung by all followed by the choirs performing ‘Sing for the King’ to commence the concert. The performance continued with two summer-themed songs sung by the Nursery and Pre Nursery children. Reception pupils followed with two lively dance songs.
Year 1 showcased two upbeat tunes on the ‘Boomwhackers’ before an impressive recorder medley by Year 2. Year 3 performed two Rock and Roll songs on the ukulele and all of the Lower Prep pupils then sung ‘Message For The King’ all together for the finale. It was a superb concert celebrating the King’s recent Coronation and we are very proud of all the pupils involved. Thank you to the parents and teachers for your support on this wonderful occasion.

Father’s Day Breakfasts in Nursery and Reception
This week, we were delighted to welcome our parents from across the EYFS for our Father’s Day celebrations. In the Nursery, they enjoyed a continental breakfast in the garden and then all the children sang ‘Frère Jacques’ and ‘He’s Got All Our Love In His Hands’. The fathers of the Reception children enjoyed listening to them tell jokes and share why they love their daddies, before tucking into a delicious breakfast of salmon bagels, pastries and tasty yoghurts. We enjoyed sharing this special occasion with you and hope you enjoyed your morning with us.
Year 6 Trip to Arundel Castle
Year 6 pupils enjoyed a gloriously sunny day out to Arundel Castle last week to support their History work. Here is an account of the day from Year 6 pupil Thomas Y:
Today, I went out with Cranmore Year 6 to visit Arundel castle. The journey took one hour but it was worth it. We got to see the amazing things people did in medieval times. We learned about Roger de Montgomery (Earl of Arundel). We also learned some evil things they did in those times like there was a pit where people forgot about you in the entrance of the castle. We also learned that in 1139 Matilda moved into the castle and we got to visit her room where she once stood. Part of Arundel castle was built in the 19th century to get refurbished, but the castle was built in 1070.

Year 3’s Aztec Sun Stones
Year 3 have enjoyed learning about the Aztec Sun Stone. They have made some replicas in Art using clay.
Year 1 English Lessons
In Year 1 we have been retelling traditional tales in English. The children have been using their knowledge of adjectives and similes to describe The Giant from Jack and The Beanstalk. They had lots of fun creating their character and came up with some excellent ideas!
Reception at Forest School
This week, in Forest School, Reception made ‘Rainbow Toast’ by decorating pieces of bread with food colouring and milk. Their designs were so beautiful - they almost looked too good to eat! Well done, Reception!
Forest School was great fun this week! The children made rainbow toast, by putting coloured milk on their bread and Ellie toasted it on the fire for snack. The children also enjoyed balancing on the slack line and swinging in the hammock. This week has been ‘Artist Week’; we focused on the artist Kandinsky and the children have produced some amazing artwork for the display that will be in the new Science and Technology building.

Reception Visit to St Teresa’s Horses Young Musician Finals
The Young Musician Finals have been taking place this week. All the winners of these Finals will be invited to perform their pieces again in the Winners Concert on Tuesday 4th July. Congratulations to all who took part and in particular our winners.
Well done to the six fine young musicians who performed so brilliantly in the Year 4 Final of the Young Musician Competition. It was decided that Hugo P was the winner.

Sport Update
Athletics - Three pupils qualify for Nationals
It has been a busy week of athletics with four events taking place. Our U8s, U9s, and U10s were in action at Donhead last Saturday. There were some outstanding individual and relay performances. On Tuesday, Cranmore pupils attended the West Surreys at the Guildford Spectrum. We had plenty of podium finishes resulting in three athletes qualifying for the National Championships. Year 6 pupil, Freddie W has qualified in the 1500m. Kobey M won his triple jump with an impressive distance of 10.25m. Daniel B has qualified in both the javelin and shot put. The three athletes will represent West Surrey at the National Championships which takes place at the Pingles Stadium, Nuneaton. Our U14s finished joint 1st at the Claremont Fan Court Athletics meet which had 10 schools competing.
Cricket has been played against Feltonfleet, Cranleigh, Donhead and Parkside. The U11s had a clean sweep against Cranleigh across the year group on Saturday and had a convincing performance against Rokeby on Tuesday. The U11A side played in the Tonbridge tournament on Wednesday and our U9A team played at Downsend today. Tennis matches have been played against Shrewsbury House this week.
Good luck to our U11 swimming relay team who are participating in the English Schools National Finals in Sheffield tomorrow.
