Message from the Headmaster
In our first Chronicle of the new academic year, I would like to acknowledge some notable achievements by Cranmore pupils over the summer break. Our pupil Eco Council was awarded an Eco Schools Green Flag for their impact and vision for the school; there were some superb results in LAMDA examinations; and we received news that one of our pupils was successful in qualifying from the regional to the global round of the World Scholar's Cup competition.
I am delighted to have everyone back at school and was impressed watching pupils taking part in pre-season training this week. In our first assembly, Danny Care, from the England rugby team based at the World Cup in France, was kind enough to send a personalised message to Cranmore pupils. We wish Danny and the England team the very best of luck in the remainder of the tournament, that is of course until they meet Ireland in the knock-out stages of the competition!
Pupils have settled back in quickly at school. The refurbished dining room had a superb impact as they enjoyed the modern look and feel of the space at lunchtime. Pupils have had several team building activities with extracurricular clubs also commencing. They include in excess of twenty choral and music ensembles per week. In sport, there are a similar number of weekly training sessions and fixtures underway in Biathlon, Football, Golf and Rugby. Congratulations to our U11 and U13 football teams who have successfully navigated their way through the first round of the football Surrey Cup.
It was fantastic to see so many of you at the Information Evenings this week and I know we are all looking forward to the exciting term ahead at Cranmore.

Miss Freeman and Mrs SinclairTeam Building Sessions for Years 3 to 6
Team building sessions have been taking place this week for pupils in Years 3 to 6. The Happy Puzzle Company provided very entertaining and engaging sessions, ensuring that both new and existing pupils had fun working together and forging new friendships.
Year 2 learnt about the Creation in Religious Education this week and then, working in pairs, came up with actions to represent each of the seven days.
Jasper H and Hugo B in Year 6 took part in the Children’s Business Fair in Guildford over the summer holidays. Jasper and Hugo created a treasure trail around Guildford which they sold from a stall on Guildford High Street during the business fair. They needed to work hard for every sale, getting the attention of passers-by and explaining what their product involved. Overall they made £157, with profits of £131. Congratulations to Jasper and Hugo for showing creativity and
In addition, Hugo came up with a charity fundraiser challenge with a friend from his hockey team to jointly score 1000 penalty flicks against goalies to raise £1000 for Hockey for Heroes, Hockey Flyerz and Woking HC Juniors. So far they have raised nearly £1200 and donations are still coming in. Well done to Hugo and his brother Basty (Year 4)!
Drama: LAMDA Results
Congratulations to all the pupils who worked hard this year to achieve some amazing LAMDA results.

The Nursery children had their first visit to Forest School this week. They enjoyed searching for the furry animals, playing in the mud kitchen and learning the rules of Forest School.
